This is the third time my family and I have visited Datong. The first two times we stayed in hotels, but this time we wanted to try a guesthouse. After checking reviews on Dazhong Dianping, we chose Bo.Yuan Guesthouse (Huayan Temple Branch) because of the traveler comments and its 4.9 high rating. The experience was excellent, so I wanted to share my review. The day before our trip, the guesthouse manager proactively called us to discuss our itinerary in Datong and our mode of transportation. She also offered a pick-up service, so we provided our travel details. Before we arrived at Datong South Station, a lady called to confirm the pick-up time and location, and informed us of her arrival time. When we got to the waiting area, we waited for about two minutes. The guesthouse lady called again, repeatedly apologizing for being two minutes late. She reconfirmed our waiting spot and described what she was wearing so we wouldn't miss her. When we met her, she didn't look like a typical pick-up driver, but rather a very elegant and young lady. She greeted my family and me warmly, saying, ”I'm so sorry for being two minutes late. The hotel is quite busy today, and the regular pick-up driver couldn't make it. After they told me, I rushed over to pick you up myself. Our hotel values integrity, and since we promised a pick-up service, even if there was no available car, I couldn't use a ride-hailing app. So, I truly apologize for being a few minutes late.” From this conversation, we learned that she was the female owner of the guesthouse. Throughout the journey, she was very talkative and friendly, making us feel completely at ease. She introduced us to the guesthouse and the unique features of Datong, and soon we arrived at the guesthouse. We chatted a lot with her during the short half-hour drive—perhaps it was fate. **1. Guesthouse Environment and Service:** Upon arriving at the guesthouse courtyard, we found it to be a very distinctive Siheyuan (quadrangle courtyard). The staff were all very enthusiastic, proactively helping us with our luggage and offering us tea. Since we arrived before check-in time, our room was still being cleaned. To minimize our waiting time, the owner personally urged the cleaning staff to finish quickly. She also used the waiting time to introduce us to the guesthouse's room features and restaurant. Once the room was ready, our room was on the second floor. The staff proactively helped us take our luggage up and turned on the air conditioning. Inside the room, it felt wonderful. Although the room retained the ancient charm of a Siheyuan, the infrastructure was very modern and high-tech, featuring central air conditioning, button-controlled panels, a projector instead of a TV, and an electric toilet. The hotel amenities also catered thoughtfully to modern women, such as essential oils in the toiletries, and provided toilet seat covers, disinfectant wipes, and wet wipes. Additionally, the welcome fruit quality was excellent; the owner mentioned she personally selected and purchased everything herself. The room was very quiet. I usually have trouble sleeping, but this time, I didn't experience insomnia due to changing locations. Instead, I slept exceptionally well because of the tranquil courtyard. **2. Guesthouse Breakfast:** From the room to the restaurant, every staff member we encountered greeted us warmly. In the restaurant, the staff proactively introduced the breakfast options and asked if we needed any help. The breakfast selection was very rich, combining Western and Chinese dishes to satisfy every guest's palate. There was vegetable salad, fruit platters, coffee, milk, yogurt, sausages, grilled chicken wings, stir-fried baby cabbage, bread, sweet potatoes, corn, purple rice paste, knife-cut noodles, wontons, and dumplings. The ingredients for these dishes were all personally selected and purchased by the owner, ensuring their freshness. All dishes were freshly prepared by the chef and tasted excellent. Although the restaurant might not be as large or offer as many varieties as four or five-star hotels, the quality of ingredients and taste were certainly on par with their culinary standards. Escaping the hustle and bustle of the big city for a weekend in Datong, our short two-day trip is coming to an end. The cultural heritage of Datong, its unique cuisine, and our stay at Bo.Yuan Guesthouse have all left a wonderful impression on me. Next time I visit Datong, I will definitely choose Bo.Yuan Guesthouse again. I wish the owner great success in her business! See you next time, Datong!

I had an amazing stay at Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard in Datong! This hidden gem offers a traditional Chinese courtyard experience with a cozy and authentic vibe. The location is ideal—just a short walk from Huayan Temple and Nine Dragon Wall. The rooms were immaculately clean, making it easy to relax, especially after staying at a larger hotel that wasn’t as spotless. The bathroom amenities were incredible—featuring a wooden comb, two electric toothbrushes, Sensodyne toothpaste, a high-quality nail clipping set, a shoehorn, Listerine, and lingerie soap, all beautifully packed in an embroidered red pouch, free of charge. Breakfast was delicious, with a carefully prepared set menu. The thousand-year congee was unbelievably good! The hotel even has a small exhibition room, adding to its charm. There's no complaint on anything here. It's all perfect to me! Overall, Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard is a fantastic blend of tradition, comfort, and thoughtful hospitality—highly recommend it!

Een fantastische reiservaring! De kamer was nieuw en schoon, in een moderne Chinese stijl, met uitstekende verwarming en een comfortabel kingsize bed. Zelfs buiten het hoogseizoen boden de eigenaren 24/7 service, waren ze ongelooflijk gastvrij en altijd bereid om te helpen, waardoor we ons meteen thuis voelden. Op onze laatste dag, na het uitchecken en wachten op onze trein, lieten ze ons ontspannen in de theekamer, waar we gezellig konden kletsen en thee drinken – we hebben het heerlijk gehad (P4, 5). Ze hielpen ons ook aan een even vriendelijke chauffeur en gaven ons tips over bezienswaardigheden (P6, 7, 8) en lokale specialiteiten (P3). Het ontbijt, met lokale specialiteiten, wordt vóór 9 uur 's ochtends geserveerd (P1, 2). Ik zou hier zeker nog eens verblijven en ik zou het van harte aanbevelen aan vrienden en familie die Datong bezoeken! Ik wens de eigenaren veel succes met hun zaak!

We were warmly greeted by friendly staff upon arrival, making us feel welcome right away. The check-in process was quick and smooth, and the team went the extra mile to help us register on their app as we are foreigners, ensuring we could easily access Wi-Fi and contact them if needed. We had called ahead to request a humidifier and air purifier, and were pleased to find them already prepared in our room when we checked in. The room itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the inclusion of an electric toilet with a heated seat was a thoughtful touch, especially during the winter season. Throughout our stay, every staff member we encountered was genuinely helpful and sincere in their service, always making sure we were well taken care of. We initially planned to stay from 6/12/24 to 8/12/24 but felt so at home that we decided to extend our stay for an additional two days. A big thank you to the team at Mecure Hotel for their exceptional service and attention to detail. Me and my Husband had agreed this is best hotel in our 17 days China trip. We had a fantastic stay and look forward to returning in the future. Great job!

If we could design a perfect stay for us, this would be it. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel has a beautiful warm feel to it, our room was charming, very comfortable, soft bed, lovely linen and pillows, plenty of room for our luggage, places to sit, great tv and even a warm loo seat and great shower. Plus a magnificent breakfast spread and laundry facilities too. They even have their own special tea. Great location - close to the wall entrance across the road and not far to walk to good restaurants. Close to public transport also. Thanks for having us. We won't hesitate to recommend to our family and friends.

I booked two rooms for 4, and we were given rooms beside each other. We arrived late at night around 9.30pm and check in went smoothly. Rooms were very comfortable and were equipped with SMART tech with voice activation! We were also able to check out a little later upon request since our train left later in the afternoon. I also had packages delivered to the reception and had no issues. Location was great and easy to explore the ancient city and also to see the main wall itself. One thing to note is that there isn't a formal drop off point but you can definitely get dropped off and picked up along the side of the road. The room layout was slightly different than the images on Trip.com (I booked a Double bedroom with courtyard view with a stay voucher), but the room was good too although I would have preferred the toilet configuration in the photos. Overall, a great place to stay and I'd definitely stay here again if I get to come back to Datong. They also have a bakery at the lobby and it gets sold out pretty quickly!

Nicet location and amenities (self-service laundry). Nearby eateries and shopping centres. Walking distance to city gate.

Een zeer bevredigend verblijf. Parkeren is handig en vlak voor het hotel. De receptie is warm en vriendelijk. De kamer is schoon, netjes, elegant, warm en comfortabel van het inchecken De volgende ochtend waren de bergen aan de overkant bedekt met wolken en mist, en het prachtige landschap was panoramisch. Het ontbijt was goed en rijk aan variatie, maar de melk was niet bevredigend en er leek veel water aan toegevoegd. De geluidsisolatie van de kamer was niet erg goed, en ik was gefrustreerd door het luide gezang naast de deur na 7 uur. Afgezien van deze twee kleine spijt was de rest geweldig.

Prima locatie en lage prijs voor een grote kamer met ruime douche en gratis flesjes water. Echter, de airco werkte niet. We moesten het raam open laten staan en hoorden de halve nacht een hond blaffen. Ook matig was het bed met een veel te harde matras. Wat schandalig was is dat we een uitgerookte kamer kregen terwijl we niet roken hadden geboekt. Niemand van het personeel spreekt een woord engels.

Voordelen: 1.De geografische locatie is echt goed, ik kom dicht bij de weg van de oude stad! Ga naar alle attracties is zeer handig! 2.De sanitaire voorzieningen zijn ook goed, warme wind en warm water zijn zeer krachtig! Onvoldoende: Het is niet zo lachwekkend dat de gasten van de receptie langer op de dag blijven. Hoewel het niet makkelijk is om te overuren, is het goed om de dienstenindustrie weer een lange tijd te hebben! Ik zie ze morgenochtend een lange video van de oude gasten maken, ik wil echt zeggen: kan deze houding niet tegenover gasten die op de dag blijven!
