4-Starhotels in Datong

The best stay I’ve ever had in my entire life — and trust me, I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and B&Bs. ;) The rooms are gorgeous, spotless, and super comfortable, with great attention to detail — everything I could possibly need (and more!) was provided. The bathroom even had a Dyson hair dryer, a Kohler heated automatic toilet, and a Hansgrohe faucet! If you’re not familiar with these brands, just know they’re the best you can get. The location is convenient for reaching downtown Datong and various points of interest… but honestly, these technical aspects — which alone would already deserve a 10-star rating — pale in comparison to the warmth and kindness we received from the B&B owners. My friends and I truly felt at home, pampered by Ben, the guy who runs the place with such care and attention to his guests that I’ve never experienced anywhere else (not even in 5-star hotels!). He and his sister picked us up at the station — both speak excellent English (which is not something you can take for granted in China) — and they recommended amazing local restaurants, must-see attractions, and even welcomed us with a lovely gift package of local specialties. For breakfast, Ben’s mother prepared a rich and delicious traditional meal, and for our train trip she even packed homemade bread for us to take along! Datong is a charming city, and if you visit, you absolutely have to stay here!!!

We took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. My husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

Ik kan Tangfang Courtyard niet hoger beoordelen. Ik wil bijna geen recensie schrijven en het aan meer reizigers laten zien! Mijn zoon spreekt vloeiend Mandarijn, maar ik spreek nog geen woord, ze wilde me 's ochtends graag helpen met het maken van mijn zuivelvrije koffie, regelde snel een geweldige, redelijk geprijsde chauffeur en comfortabele auto voor ons om de volgende dag naar het hangende klooster en de grotten te gaan. Dit is uniek omdat het in een authentiek gebouw is, elegant, maar toch gezellige familiesfeer met een keuken/eetkamer waar alle gasten aan dezelfde tafel eten. De laatste inspanning die Yezi en haar collega's deden, was om mij op het laatste moment een aantal van de zeer opvallende azijnpotten te bezorgen die uniek zijn voor Datong, op de ochtend dat we vertrokken. Ik zal hier zeker weer verblijven als ik de volgende keer in Datong ben en zal het van harte aanbevelen aan mijn vrienden. Five-star review! Mercure, an Accor hotel, definitely did not disappoint. You can tell the style right from the moment you step into the lobby—French elegance, and the public areas are clean and fresh. The room has great natural light, impeccable cleanliness with no strange odors, and the mattress and pillows are very comfortable. Soundproofing is solid, making for a very quiet night. The room is fully equipped with stable high-speed WiFi, a separate wet and dry bathroom, and complete toiletries. The hotel facilities are comprehensive: a self-service laundry room with a dryer, and a gym—essential needs for business travel. The breakfast offers a wide variety and tastes great. The front desk service is attentive and prompt with responses. The location is excellent and transportation is very convenient. Overall, the quality and service are consistently top-notch. Highly recommended for both business trips and short getaways!

The hot spring hotel has been awesome. The room is very big, super clean and bright enough in areas like the bathroom. It is warm enough even in winter due to the underfloor heating,, so I have to turn off the room air con heating. The hotel front desk team is even more awesome. They are always ready to help with all kinds of queries and needs. When we were leaving, they even gave us a bottle of local vinegar as a gift. The hot spring is not located inside the hotel like the Japanese onsen. It is a couple of hundred meters away, but the hotel provided an electric buggy to ferry you to and fro. The hot spring area itself has a changing room, where you can out on the bathrobe before you step out in the open and into the hot spring. So even in winter, it is still manageable and you should not catch a cold. Some regular hot spring users even put on their down feather jacket over the bathrobe, and that surely is more effective. There are even security personnel at the hot spring to make sure there is help if you get into difficulties. Breakfast is also good. The hotel also uses the buggy to fetch you to a posh looking restaurant in the hotel vicinity. Food is good, and not too expensive. There is also a small retail outlet next to the restaurant. The prices there are very reasonable.

Prima locatie en lage prijs voor een grote kamer met ruime douche en gratis flesjes water. Echter, de airco werkte niet.
