4-Starhotels in Osaka Prefecture, Japan

We chose this hotel for our trip to Universal Studios, and it's conveniently located not far from the park entrance, making coming and going very easy. There are plenty of dining options nearby, as well as Universal Studios merchandise stores. The day we arrived happened to be a Japanese holiday, so it was incredibly crowded. Check-in started at 3 PM, and we had to wait in line for a long time. The hotel is quite large and even has a Family Mart convenience store inside, which was great since we didn't book breakfast. We booked a city view room, but the front desk gave us a room on the 4th floor, so there was basically no view outside the window. For Japan, the room was quite spacious. Overall, it was convenient for accessing Universal Studios.

What we found especially charming was that all the amenities were displayed in the lobby and were free for guests to take. They had everything you could possibly need—even face masks, which was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere felt more like a modern student accommodation than a traditional hotel, which we really enjoyed. The staff were friendly, the rooftop bar was fantastic, and bike rentals were available. They also had a cafeteria-style common area with a coffee machine, microwaves, and water dispensers, making it the perfect place to enjoy food from the convenience store. Overall, it was a 10/10 stay, and we'd happily stay here again.

This is the largest, most scenic, and most convenient hotel I've stayed at in all my trips to Japan. From the second floor, turn left and walk 20 meters to the subway 🚇, or walk straight for 100 meters to the outlet mall. There are plenty of places to eat and shop 🛍️ nearby, which is super convenient! The hotel also offers free luggage storage. I booked a family room, which had separate inner and outer sections. It came with two 1.4-meter beds and a sofa bed that was about 1.5 meters wide. My family of four loved our stay! We were on the 21st floor, and the 180-degree night view of Osaka from our window was absolutely stunning!

Location: If you're coming from Kansai Airport, taking the Nankai Rapid Express to Namba and then dragging your luggage to the hotel is a bit of a trek, about 1km I'd say? I heard taking the bus is better. But the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. Just 100 meters outside, you're in the busiest area of Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi. Every day after exploring, you can just step downstairs and enjoy all sorts of delicious food. Room: The room isn't huge, but I could half-open my 28-inch suitcase. Although it's a bit older, it's very clean! The only issue is that the curtains don't block out the light completely, so I was woken up by the sunlight in the morning. I should have worn an eye mask. Breakfast: It's alright, enough to fill you up. If you're rushing out to explore every day, it's worth booking. The restaurant isn't very big and can get crowded sometimes. A big plus is that children under 12 eat for free! Service: My room was right opposite the linen room, but I stayed for 3 nights and didn't hear a single sound from the staff, which was impressive! I couldn't use WeChat Pay for the washing machine, so I called the front desk to complain. To my surprise, a staff member proactively came to my room to help me operate it. When it still didn't work, they went back and forth to help me resolve the issue. Surroundings: Many reviews mentioned the red-light district at night. I also brought my 12-year-old daughter, and we came back very late every night, but we found it to be fine. This area is very lively; there are still many people out and about at midnight. You can find places like a century-old oden stand and the popular white chicken broth ramen, as well as convenience stores and Don Quijote. I'm very satisfied! Downside: There are too few washing machines.

The location is fantastic, right outside the JR station and a 5-minute walk from Universal Studios Japan's entrance. There's a convenience store and shops downstairs – a perfect choice. We even went back to the hotel to rest when it got too hot at Universal Studios, then re-entered in the evening to continue the fun. After a long day of walking, a relaxing bath and soak at the top floor spa in the evening was exactly what we needed to unwind. Everything was perfect, except for the crowds – too many people at breakfast and in the showers.

The sheets and duvet covers caused an allergic reaction and itchiness. During my 5-night stay, the garbage bags and towels were replaced, and the sign indicated bathroom cleaning would be done, but it wasn't. For 5 nights, the bathroom wasn't cleaned, and the hair on the floor was quite unpleasant. If you're tired from sightseeing and sleep past 11 AM the next day, the trash and towels won't be changed, but you can leave dirty ones outside, and they will be replaced. The location is decent, but the nearest subway isn't convenient for getting to Shinsaibashi and Umeda. People who say it's a short walk to Shinsaibashi must be serious hikers; for normal people, especially with kids, it's very tiring, particularly when returning at night. We mostly took taxis, which cost less than 2000 JPY, which was acceptable. The upside is the good restaurants nearby; I recommend the yakitori place. I don't recommend the Western restaurant; the female staff were awful – they provided obsequious, smiling service to Japanese guests but were rude to others. The hotel doesn't provide bottled water, but it's available at the 18th-floor reception, along with freshly ground coffee and vending machines. Luggage storage is on the 1st floor. The first time I had an issue and went to the front desk, they knew they needed to go downstairs to swipe my card but didn't, instead telling me to scan an IC card with my phone. That didn't work, so I went up a second time, and another young lady instinctively took the card downstairs and swiped it for me, and it worked. This aspect of the experience was not great.

Right next to the busiest tourist area in Osaka and with access to large number of facilities., Spaworld is surely a top choice to stay. But actually, the day ticket only costs 1500 yen and overnight staying fee is 1300 yen, which means you don't really need to stay in the hotel to use everything and stay for a night, kind of like a SPA net cafe. The plus for using the hotel is that you allow yourself to enter anytime you want.

Staying at Hotel Granvia Osaka was such a pleasant experience! The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of Osaka, with shopping, restaurants and eateries all around, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city. What I loved most is how central it is for travelling beyond Osaka too. With Osaka Station right there, it’s so easy to head out to places like Kyoto, Kobe and Kurashiki without wasting time getting across the city. A special shout-out to Don at the hotel, whose service was truly top-notch. He spoke excellent English, was incredibly accommodating and made me feel very well taken care of. The hotel even upgraded my room for free, which was such a lovely surprise! And for Pokémon fans — this is a bonus I absolutely loved! 😍 The Pokémon Center is just on the 13th floor, so you can literally pop down whenever you feel like browsing or shopping. Overall, a fantastic base for an Osaka trip — excellent location, wonderful service, comfortable stay and plenty of shopping and dining right at your doorstep. Would definitely stay here again!

If you love exploring towns on foot, this place is a perfect fit for you. I had already visited Osaka Castle and the Dotonbori River before, so this time I wanted to explore a new area. The Tennoji area, which is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, has many attractions. For example, there's Tsutenkaku (a tower with an observation deck), and the Shinsekai area, which is full of local shops and gives you the feeling of stepping back in time to 40 or 50 years ago. Right next to these areas, there’s a large park that includes a zoo, a museum, and a historical mansion built in the Edo period. Shrines and temples can be found all around as well. The hotel is in a convenient location for walking around these spots. Since the hotel has a Buddhist theme, the interior isn’t luxurious, but it’s neat and clean. The room I stayed in (a superior single) had everything I needed. If you’re traveling with a large suitcase for a week-long trip, you might find it a bit tight to open it fully in the room, but it's spacious enough for 2–3 days' worth of luggage. It was also quiet at night. They provide many free amenities in the room, such as sandals for areas outside the tatami(green in the room photoes) space, a pair of socks, tea bags, a bottle of water, a toothbrush, and more. If you go out at night, note that the entrance door closes at 11 p.m., but you can still enter by tapping your room key on the reader next to the door. However, there is no front desk staff available late at night. I actually wanted to ask about a machine in the room (maybe an air purifier or humidifier) around 11 p.m., and tried calling the front desk, but no one answered. I hope they consider having at least one night staff member available. That was the only point I thought could be improved. As I didn’t add the (vegetarian) breakfast option, I bought some food near Ebisucho Station and kept it in the fridge in my room. There are many restaurants, convenience stores, and delis that stay open late, so you won’t have any trouble finding food. After checking out in the morning, I left my luggage at the hotel and walked to a café about 10 minutes away. I planned to explore the area afterward. I expected cooler weather because it was cloudy, so I wore a long-sleeved shirt, but it got warmer than expected. I decided to go back to the hotel to change clothes. The front desk staff was very kind and showed me to a large restroom where I could take off my shoes and put stuffs— very helpful! Overall, it was a very comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends when they visit Osaka.

Hotel is the most convenient stay near Osaka Station: it sits directly above JR Osaka Station’s Central Gate, so you step off the train and into the lobby without dragging luggage outside. Rooms are compact by Western standards but clean, quiet, and well‑equipped, with comfortable beds, city or courtyard views, and reliable free Wi‑Fi. The hotel’s real strength is location and service—staff are consistently praised as helpful and efficient, and you’re minutes from Umeda’s department stores, restaurants, and subway lines. On‑site dining ranges from casual cafes to higher‑end Japanese and Western options, plus a lounge bar; breakfast offers Japanese and Western choices. Ideal for transit‑heavy itineraries (Shinkansen at Shin‑Osaka, Kansai Airport via Haruka) and travelers who value time over large rooms.
