De metro van Guangzhou is een van de meest geavanceerde stedelijke metrosystemen van China. Het netwerk telt inmiddels 17 lijnen, beslaat meer dan 700 kilometer en bedient ruim 300 stations. Het netwerk bestrijkt 11 districten in de hele stad, waardoor het een handige en betrouwbare manier is om te reizen voor zowel de lokale bevolking als bezoekers.
Lijnen 1 tot en met 6 vormen de verbinding tussen de belangrijkste zakendistricten en grote vervoersknooppunten. De voorstadslijnen, zoals lijn 7 en lijn 14, reiken tot in de nabijgelegen districten, waaronder Panyu en Conghua. Lijn 3 brengt je in noordelijke richting naar de internationale luchthaven Baiyun, terwijl lijn 2, lijn 7 en lijn 22 je verbinden met het treinstation Guangzhou South, een belangrijk knooppunt voor hogesnelheidstreinen. De metro biedt bovendien een gemakkelijke toegang tot de Canton Fair via lijn 8, die stopt bij station Pazhou, de belangrijkste locatie van de beurs.
Verschillende metrolijnen brengen je bovendien in een handomdraai bij de populairste bezienswaardigheden. Zo bereik je de Canton Tower via lijn 3, Shamian via lijn 6 en Chimelong met lijn 3 of 7. Metrokaartjes in Guangzhou kopen
De metro van Guangzhou maakt betalen nu een stuk makkelijker voor internationale bezoekers. Alle stations, inclusief de APM-lijn, ondersteunen de vier grote buitenlandse bankkaarten (Visa, Mastercard, JCB en Discover). Je kunt simpelweg je kaart tegen de lezer houden bij elk poortje met het kaartlogo om in en uit te checken.
Je kunt ook een Single Journey Ticket (het groene plastic muntje 🟢) kopen bij de kaartautomaten op het station met contant geld of mobiele betaling. Regelmatige reizigers kunnen de officiële Guangzhou Metro-app of de WeChat- of Alipay-miniprogramma's gebruiken om een QR-code ticket te genereren voor een snelle toegang. Bezoekers kunnen bij de servicebalie ook een Yang Cheng Tong-kaart met opgeslagen waarde kopen, met een restitueerbare borg van 20 RMB, die je ook kunt gebruiken voor bussen en veerboten. Alle kaartautomaten en apps bieden een Engelse interface, waardoor het systeem voor iedereen gemakkelijk te gebruiken is. Laten we elke optie en de werking ervan eens nader bekijken.

Sinds 12 oktober 2025 ondersteunt de metro van Guangzhou contactloos betalen met buitenlandse bankpassen. Reizigers kunnen hun pas nu direct bij het poortje scannen voor een snelle en gemakkelijke toegang.

Je hoeft geen ticket te kopen of een app te downloaden. Houd simpelweg je betaalpas tegen de lezer met de kaartlogo's bij het metrostation om in of uit te checken.

Verkrijgbaar bij alle metrostations in Guangzhou. De poortjes zijn duidelijk gemarkeerd met kaartlogo's en veel stations hebben borden in zowel het Engels als het Chinees om internationale reizigers wegwijs te maken, zeker tijdens grote evenementen zoals de Canton Fair.

Traveling to Guangzhou this time, I brought a friend along and we stayed at the Jianguo Hotel Guangzhou – it was definitely the right choice! The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient for getting around. It's close to the East Railway Station, which makes sightseeing or transferring transportation hassle-free. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the overall environment is quiet, and the staff are warm, polite, and responsive to any issues. As for the hotel's dining, you absolutely must try the handmade dim sum at the restaurant on the fourth floor. It's authentic Cantonese flavor, freshly made by hand, and tastes great. Sitting there with friends, slowly sipping tea and chatting, creates a wonderful atmosphere. The buffet at the Western restaurant on the second floor also exceeded expectations – a rich variety of dishes, fresh ingredients, and excellent taste.
Everything from dining to accommodation can be conveniently arranged at the hotel. I would choose this place again whether for a business trip or a vacation. If you're visiting near Guangzhou East Railway Station and want to experience authentic Cantonese morning tea, I sincerely recommend this hotel!Van€ 53

I've stayed at this apartment hotel several times now. Why do I love staying here when I'm in Guangzhou? Purely because the room has a washing machine! Guangzhou is so humid and hot; I just can't feel comfortable if I don't wash my clothes daily, haha. The only downside is that they only provide two bottles of water, which is far too little. My stay at the Marriott Zhengjia Plaza was absolutely perfect! The hotel's location is excellent, directly connected to Zhengjia Plaza, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. The concierge proactively helped with luggage, and these thoughtful details made me feel very welcome. From the moment I stepped through the doors of Baiyun Hotel, I knew this was going to be a special stay. Everything—from the service to the room to the food—was flawless. I honestly cannot find a single thing to complain about.
First Impressions:
The lobby is stunning—elegant, warm, and beautifully lit, with a subtle signature scent that made the whole place feel luxurious. A staff member greeted me by name before I even reached the front desk. Check-in took less than five minutes, and I was offered a welcome drink and a cold towel while I waited.
The Room:
I was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite, and it was incredible. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a separate living area, a huge comfortable bed, and a marble bathroom featuring both a rain shower and a deep soaking tub. The amenities were top-tier, and the turndown service included a small local dessert and a handwritten note. The view from my window was spectacular, especially at sunset.
The Food:
Breakfast was a feast—an extensive buffet with everything from fresh sushi to made-to-order waffles, plus a barista who made a perfect flat white. I also had dinner at the hotel's restaurant, and it was genuinely one of the best meals of my trip. The chef even came out to check on the guests, which was a lovely touch.
The Service:
This is where Baiyun Hotel truly shines. Every single staff member I encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about my experience. The concierge arranged last-minute tickets for me, the housekeeping team remembered I preferred extra pillows, and the front desk followed up to make sure everything was perfect. Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich is in a fantastic location, only a ten-minute taxi ride away, making travel very convenient. The room was very clean and quiet overall, and the front desk staff, Mia and Rachel, provided attentive service. There are many great restaurants nearby, making sightseeing effortless. Our stay was wonderful, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Guangzhou! The kids absolutely loved this hotel; we were truly amazed by it 🥰.

I arrived at 7:30 PM and was warmly greeted by a middle-aged (actually quite young) lady in a black suit uniform, Ms. [0573 Hu Baodi]! Other restaurant staff informed me that hotel guests receive a 10% discount on dining, and on Teachers' Day, September 10th, teachers with relevant identification would also receive a discount.
After dinner, I suddenly had a craving for mooncakes... I saw that mooncakes were on the menu... After inquiring with the staff, I learned that mooncakes were selling fast, in high demand, and some varieties were already out of stock... The restaurant manager, upon learning of this, quickly provided a solution – to check the inventory records in the warehouse and help me find the relevant products... It was already 9:15 PM, only 15 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM. The restaurant manager could have easily brushed me off with excuses like ”out of stock” or ”sold out”... However, this manager did not! Instead, she responsibly handled the issue and tried her best to meet the customer's needs! She personally plated the mooncakes, brought cutlery, and thoughtfully said, ”Closing time is 9:30 PM, but we can extend it by 10-15 minutes if needed!” I couldn't help but ask, ”Why is your restaurant service so good?! Won't this delay your off-duty time?” She replied, ”15 minutes is definitely not enough to eat mooncakes... that would be too rushed...” This manager also enthusiastically helped us change to a fresh pot of tea! When she learned that we were hotel guests, the manager said, ”Then you should enjoy your meals and drinks even more at the hotel restaurant!”... ”Coming to the restaurant is like coming home for a meal!” I never expected such a broad mind and high-level perspective from this restaurant manager! This service philosophy of ”leaving convenience for guests and trouble for oneself” is truly touching! What's more, I never expected a hotel restaurant manager to treat hotel guests like family! I believe this restaurant is not only dedicated to serving in-house guests but also provides a ”home away from home” experience for every customer who dines there!

This stay at the Garden Hotel in Guangzhou, a long-standing platinum five-star hotel in China, truly exceeded expectations. It's been 40 years since its opening, and its enduring charm is evident.
Two days before my arrival, a butler contacted me via phone and WeChat, even proactively booking a table for me at the Lingxuan Pavilion buffet on my check-in day. This proactive service was incredibly thoughtful.
To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive before checking in. Given its long history, I was concerned about outdated facilities and had braced myself for it. However, the reality was far beyond my expectations. The hotel's maintenance is impeccable; both the lobby and the guest rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy, with no hint of wear or age. The front desk staff was exceptionally attentive, confirming my preferred view, orientation, and floor. They also kindly warned me about ongoing subway construction nearby and helped me choose a quieter room, ultimately upgrading my room – a truly delightful surprise.
Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately awestruck by its grand and magnificent space. Two colossal murals adorn the walls: one depicting the Twelve Beauties of Jinling from 'Dream of the Red Chamber' in gilded marble, and the other showcasing Lingnan folk customs. Above, a massive 'Golden Dragon Playing with Pearls' caisson ceiling, crafted from tens of thousands of gold foils, creates a powerful visual impact and serves as the hotel's most iconic Lingnan artistic symbol. The hotel also boasts a 21,000 square meter private garden, featuring dual waterfalls, a red bridge over flowing water, a koi pond, and traditional pavilions – a quintessential Lingnan garden. Walking in, the temperature felt noticeably cooler, and sitting quietly for a while was incredibly serene. The Waterfall Restaurant, nestled by the garden, offers stunning water views from its floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a perfect ambiance for an evening drink or afternoon tea.
The renovated guest rooms feature a classical Lingnan Chinese style, with exquisite details. As it was Mid-Autumn Festival during my stay, the room thoughtfully included mooncakes. The hotel also offers free historical guided tours, where a guide takes you through the hotel's historical corners, recounting its stories. The guide was very friendly and even provided individual recaps for guests who arrived late – a huge plus. Lingnan artistic elements are abundant throughout the hotel, making it a joy to explore. I noticed many international guests, indicating its high global recognition.
Dining had both highs and lows. Lingxuan Pavilion boasts a stunning environment and a high-class interior. The food selection is extensive, and the chef's selected à la carte dishes were of outstanding quality. My only minor disappointment was an incorrect gender on the personalized card; it was also mistaken during a previous phone call, and I was surprised it was still incorrect on the card. However, this is a small detail that doesn't detract from the overall experience. The Liwan Pavilion has a charming Xiguan-style ambiance, but the food quality was average and prices were a bit high. The hotel's lounge offers decent food and an acceptable atmosphere, but the space is a bit small with no views, and the service was quite unnoticeable, making that experience somewhat ordinary.
I've previously stayed at Guangzhou's other two major long-standing hotels: White Swan Hotel and China Hotel. Compared horizontally, while the Garden Hotel's dining might be slightly less refined than the White Swan, its overall experience is superior, especially considering the price point, making it excellent value for money. Its location is also a major advantage, situated in the old city, making it very convenient for exploring local eateries, with the renowned Lai Heen restaurant right next door.
If you're planning a visit to Guangzhou's old city and want to immerse yourself in Lingnan history, culture, and the legacy of a classic five-star hotel, the Garden Hotel comes highly recommended.Van€ 131

This trip, I stayed at the Hilton with my mother for her birthday celebration in Guangzhou. The hotel's location is excellent; it's very quick to get to Beijing Road, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Canton Tower, and there are many local delicacies to enjoy nearby.
The hotel manager thoughtfully arranged birthday decorations for us! Since I had informed the hotel in advance that I was bringing a baby, they also prepared a crib, a separate small pillow, and a blanket for us, which was very heartwarming 🫶. The room was also very quiet, and the high-floor view was fantastic. The room amenities were complete. I especially want to thank the cleaning staff that day; because the little one needed formula, she thoughtfully prepared a lot of purified water. Thank you very, very much!!
The hotel is fully equipped with a pool and gym, both of which I tried out. The pool water was very clean, located on the 8th floor, with separate shallow and deep sections. The view was expansive, and it was very comfortable to swim in the morning. There were also lifeguards on site, and separate spacious and well-equipped changing rooms for men and women.
The gym was on the same floor, and the basic equipment was quite comprehensive. Working out while looking at the city view outside the window was very refreshing.
The hotel's spa experience was also excellent. I chose a 90-minute essential oil massage. The environment was quiet, the masseuse was professional, and I felt very relaxed afterward. This hotel was perfect for attending Chen Chusheng's concert. It's just one subway stop from University Town, so getting back to the hotel quickly after the show was a breeze. A big shout-out to Guangzhou's excellent management; the order was fantastic! The hotel's location deserves full marks – it's right by subway exit A, super close! 😁 The higher floor offered great views, and the room was spacious. The breakfast had delicious bread and waffles 🧇, tasty freshly made rice noodles, and plenty of fruit. We enjoyed the views while we ate. Both the floor staff and the ground floor attendants were very friendly. If you have time, you can also walk along the greenway on the island. I booked a standard room and checked in at a room on the 8th floor, but the bathroom had a water leak, so a delivery robot brought a new room card. I was upgraded to a family room with one large and one twin bed, which was spacious and came with a Kung Fu tea set. However, the door was a bit warped from age, making it difficult to engage the safety lock; I had to lift the door frame firmly to align it with the latch. The mattress was on the firmer side, and there was practically no strange odor in the room. As someone with poor sleep quality, I felt I slept okay. I checked out at 12:00 PM, but didn't realize I left a charger behind until 3:30 PM. Since I was in a rush, I contacted the hotel via WeChat and told them to keep it for someone who might need it. My family always used to book Hilton for me, but this time they told me to try something new, so I only booked one core hotel, and it turned out to be a Wyndham. Hilton's quality is consistently good; the Hilton in this area even has more spacious rooms than others, and the service is quite good. However, Wyndham's quality really varies. The Wyndham I stayed at in Qingyuan, Lianzhu, was excellent, but the one in Panyu felt pretty average. Next time, I'll stick with Hilton. In the luxury hotel landscape of Guangzhou, Jumeirah has always been a understated player. It doesn't perch atop Guangzhou like Rosewood or Four Seasons, dominating with commanding tower views, nor does it possess the trending ambiance or master designs of Park Hyatt or Mandarin Oriental. Yet, without vying for attention, it consistently garners many excellent reviews.
I found its overall appeal to be comprehensive, warm, and attentive. I booked a unique duplex suite, but upon arrival at 4 PM, no room was immediately available. Instead of making me wait, the front desk immediately offered an upgrade to a two-level higher, Guangzhou Tower View Executive Suite. This initial upgrade was a pleasant surprise. James from the hotel explained their service philosophy to me, and I truly felt that sense of care and service dedication towards guests.
My 03-ending tower view suite was very spacious and well-laid out. The tower view was glimpsed through the gaps of the APM building, offering a somewhat veiled, 'pipa half-hidden' charm compared to a direct view of the Canton Tower. While the room's design isn't as distinct as MO or Rosewood, it prioritizes comfort, featuring wood, lattice, and orange accents that are still very appealing and comfortable.
The service was a highlight. From the doormen, lobby staff, front desk, to housekeeping, everyone was polite and smiling. Guest relations added me on WeChat and responded quickly. When I asked the gym front desk staff about the outdoor pool, they didn't just point the way; they enthusiastically escorted me, taking the elevator, changing floors, and walking through an entire floor to the apartment's outdoor pool.
The harp performance during breakfast was indeed delightful, and while the food variety wasn't extensive, it was exquisite.

Our whole family recently stayed at your hotel, and we had an exceptionally good experience overall. I'm writing this letter specifically to commend your employee, Katrina Lu, and also to sincerely praise the hotel's outstanding performance in all aspects.
The hotel's location is truly exceptional, situated in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around, dining, and shopping. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bedding is comfortable, and the soundproofing is good, ensuring a restful stay. The hotel's cuisine is rich and delicious; both breakfast and other meals were very much to our liking. The overall service was professional and courteous, and we felt meticulous care everywhere.
I especially want to thank Katrina Lu! We were traveling with elderly family members who are a bit slow-moving. After she understood our situation, she was very considerate and proactively helped us apply for a late check-out, so we didn't have to rush and could fully accommodate the seniors' energy levels. She was also very enthusiastic and patiently and thoroughly introduced us to nearby attractions, authentic local cuisine, and transportation routes. The information was practical and down-to-earth, greatly assisting our trip.
Her service wasn't just a mechanical process; it came from a genuine desire to consider the guests' needs, fully demonstrating China Hotel's excellent management standards and staff qualities. Such a dedicated and good employee deserves strong recognition! I kindly request the General Manager to commend Katrina Lu, and if conditions permit, I hope she can be given a bonus as encouragement.

Breakfast is diverse and delicious. Rooms are clean. There is a fridge, bathroom robes, umbrella, tea and coffee. There is even suger and sweetener as well. Interesting: glass wall between room and bathroom, it can be covered by a curtain if necessary. Positive: very quiet despite its proximity to the airport, swimming pool for the guests, shuttle bus starts airport transfer at 5 a.m, breakfast starts at 5:30 a.m. Negative: too few electrical sockets, one of two beds had no sockets at all (!), absence of Type C sockets at all.Van€ 83

I came here because it's widely regarded as one of the top luxury hotels in Guangzhou, but I ended up quite disappointed. The views are undeniably stunning—perched high above the city—the room decor was lovely, and the Executive Lounge had a decent selection. Unfortunately, everything else was problematic.
First, elevators in modern high-rise hotels are usually very fast, but Four Seasons Guangzhou has the slowest ones I’ve ever experienced. It takes about a second per floor, meaning over a minute just to reach the lobby, which made picking up food deliveries a real hassle.
Second, the service awareness was mediocre at best. Staff rarely responded when I thanked them multiple times. Turndown service didn't arrive until almost 9:00 PM, which is unusually late compared to other hotels. At the time, I was playing mobile games on the toilet with the bathroom door open. I explicitly told the attendant I was using the restroom, yet he walked right into the bathroom anyway, which was extremely awkward. On top of that, the turndown service itself was lackluster—the bed wasn't properly turned down, and the curtains weren't drawn (in the end, I couldn't even figure out how to close them myself). Only the doormen showed decent hospitality.
Third, the bathroom design here has to be the worst I've encountered in any domestic luxury hotel. There’s no power outlet for the hairdryer by the vanity, no trash can in the toilet stall, and the smart toilet kept opening and closing randomly on its own. The bottom of the bathtub was damaged, and there are far too many unlabeled knobs and switches, turning everything into a guessing game. The worst part was the shower: one knob was extremely loose while the other was jammed tight. Even as a grown man using considerable force, I couldn't budge it to turn on the water. In the middle of the night, I had to call an attendant, who had to muscle it open with brute force—no ordinary guest would risk forcing it like that. The drainage was also faulty; soapy water wouldn't drain, making the marble floor dangerously slippery and a major safety hazard. It was a truly dreadful shower experience.
Fourth, the room has an overwhelming number of switches. The master switch only turns off the bedroom lights, so you still have to get out of bed to switch off the walk-in closet and bathroom lights. I couldn't find the curtain controls either, unless they're strictly manual. The wall sockets were loose, the bedside rotary light switches were inconvenient, and the hardware overall is definitely showing its age.
For a hotel that charges 4,000 RMB a night even during the off-season, this bathroom experience is utterly unacceptable. I have never had such a terrible bathroom experience at any five-star hotel in China. I truly hope management takes these issues seriously.Van€ 321
