Overzicht van de metro van Beijing
De metro van Peking is een van de grootste metrosystemen ter wereld. Het netwerk telt 29 lijnen (inclusief 2 tramlijnen), beslaat 879 km (≈ 546,19 mijl) en heeft 523 stations. Daarnaast zijn er 99 overstapstations die de verschillende lijnen met elkaar verbinden. Op dit moment zijn er acht nieuwe lijnen in aanbouw om het metronetwerk nog verder uit te breiden.
In 2024 maakten ongeveer 3,6 miljard passagiers gebruik van de metro – dat zijn bijna 1 miljoen mensen per dag. Sinds april 2025 staat het record voor het hoogste dagelijkse aantal passagiers van de metro van Peking op 13,7538 miljoen (op 12 juli 2019). Metroticketprijzen in Beijing
De metro van Peking hanteert een tariefsysteem op basis van afstand, waarbij de prijs voor standaardritten oploopt naarmate je verder reist. Voor de twee luchthavenlijnen (Capital en Daxing) geldt echter een vast tarief in plaats van een prijs per afstand. Regelmatige reizigers profiteren van automatische maandelijkse kortingen die oplopen bij intensiever gebruik. Let er wel op dat er voor alle passagiers extra kosten in rekening worden gebracht als je langer dan 4 uur in het metronetwerk verblijft. De specifieke regels zijn als volgt:

Metrokaartjes in Beijing kopen
De metro van Peking biedt passagiers diverse betaalmethoden. Je kunt een ticket voor een enkele reis kopen bij de kaartautomaten of loketten op het station met contant geld, mobiele QR-codes (Alipay/WeChat Pay) of via contactloos betalen met buitenlandse creditcards (UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, JCB of American Express).
Voor frequente ritten is de Yikatong-kaart (fysieke kaart of mobiele NFC-versie) het handigst; deze is verkrijgbaar op stations en op te waarderen via de app of bij kiosken. Veel toeristen geven de voorkeur aan mobiele betaalapps zoals Alipay of Yitongxing, waarmee je QR-codes bij de poortjes kunt scannen zonder dat je fysieke kaartjes hoeft te kopen.
Internationale bezoekers kunnen ook direct bij het poortje inchecken met hun in het buitenland uitgegeven Visa-, Mastercard-, JCB-, American Express- of UnionPay-kaart (China) voor contactloze betaling – je hoeft dus geen apart ticket te kopen. Kan ik mijn buitenlandse creditcard gebruiken in de metro van Beijing?

Ja, de metro van Peking accepteert buitenlandse creditcards voor contactloze betalingen. Sinds 15 juni 2025 worden ook JCB- en American Express-kaarten ondersteund, naast de al bestaande UnionPay-, Mastercard- en Visa-kaarten. Hiermee is het het eerste metrosysteem ter wereld dat alle vijf de grote kaartnetwerken volledig heeft geïntegreerd. De service is beschikbaar op alle 29 lijnen en 523 stations (inclusief de Airport Express en de S2-voorstadslijn) en werkt 24/7 bij elk poortje.
Om een buitenlandse betaalkaart te gebruiken, houd je deze simpelweg bij het in- en uitchecken tegen de contactloze lezer op het poortje. Registratie of een mobiele app is niet nodig; houd je kaart gewoon even tegen de lezer totdat het poortje opent. Het systeem berekent automatisch het tarief op basis van de afgelegde afstand. Zorg er wel voor dat je kaart voorzien is van een contactloos-symbool en dat er voldoende saldo op staat voordat je op reis gaat.

Werkt je kaart niet? Het stationspersoneel helpt je graag bij het oplossen van problemen. Let op: het systeem accepteert alleen internationaal uitgegeven kaarten van Mastercard, Visa, JCB en American Express. Kaarten van deze merken die binnen China zijn uitgegeven, worden niet ondersteund. Voor sommige buitenlandse kaarten moet je mogelijk vooraf internationale transacties inschakelen. Dankzij dit systeem kunnen toeristen eenvoudig met hun eigen creditcard door de metro van Peking reizen, waardoor je reis makkelijker is dan ooit tevoren.

The mattress and bedding are high quality, and they offer two types of down pillows (soft and firm). The central air conditioning maintains a very precise temperature, so it's never too hot or too cold. Plus, there's ample parking. The overall facilities are mature and reliable, built with solid materials. Both the in-room amenities and the public recreational facilities far exceed those of other hotels in the same price range and location. Service: I booked a week in advance and requested a high-floor room with the front desk. When I checked in early, there wasn't an available room yet, so I left my luggage there. When I checked in later that afternoon, the front desk provided service with a smile throughout. We were three people, and I had booked two breakfasts, but the front desk kindly gave us an extra one.
Surroundings: It's about a seven-minute walk from Sanyuanqiao Metro Station, so transportation is convenient.

The location is very convenient, just a few minutes' walk from Wangfujing. There are many snack shops, restaurants and a few hair salons next to and in front of the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, assisting us with hailing a taxi and showing us how to get to the various attractions. The hotel even provided a small map to guide us on foot to and from the Palace Museum.
Very special is this hotel very family friendly, the have connecting room for the family to stay in, for us, we can take care of our girls without open the door and go to another room.
The daily housekeeping was very thorough. The female housekeeper responsible for our rooms 715 and 716 was particularly friendly, attentive, and responsible. My daughter accidentally spilled soy milk on the carpet and bed; I informed her, and she promised to handle it. When we returned to the room that evening, the carpet and bed were spotless, without any smell or stains. We were very satisfied with the hotel's service. We will stay in this hotel again when we go to Beijing again.Van€ 66

Staying at the Orange Crystal Hotel in Wangfujing for my Beijing Forbidden City photoshoot was the perfect choice! The location is unbeatable, right on Wangfujing Street, with direct walking access to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It's also super close to the Wangfu Century Ancient Style Makeup Studio, so after getting my Qing or Ming dynasty look done, I could head straight into the park for photos – everything flowed incredibly smoothly. The hotel was exceptionally generous with complimentary bottled water; I've stayed in countless hotels and never seen so much provided, so I didn't need to bring any of my own. The lobby amenities were thoughtful and complete, with a 24-hour self-service coffee machine and even building blocks for kids. It really maximized comfort for traveling with elderly family members and children. This is definitely my top choice for travel and photography trips!Van€ 86

The hotel's location is fantastic, right in the New World Department Store building, with Chongmun Station on Subway Line 5 just downstairs. There are numerous large shopping malls nearby, lots of great restaurants, and it's convenient to get anywhere. The room's cleanliness was also very good. I particularly liked their hairdryer; it's very powerful, which is great for people with long hair. The only thing I was unhappy with was their internet 🛜 – it's really bad and often disconnects, especially in the bathroom. As soon as you enter, the Wi-Fi drops. I hope they can switch to a better network provider. Everything else deserves five stars!Van€ 77

The hotel's front desk service was incredibly attentive, without feeling at all perfunctory. Check-in was quick upon arrival, and they proactively informed me about all the hotel's amenities. The staff had excellent professionalism, being friendly without being overly intrusive. The check-out process was simple and efficient. When I accidentally left a small item behind, they called me immediately and even helped mail it to me. Their handling of the situation was thorough and thoughtful, showing great care in the details. My entire stay was particularly comfortable. They could even help receive express deliveries for luggage and deliver them to the room, which saved a lot of hassle and time and effort. Extremely satisfied with the excellent service. I couldn't find any laundry detergent in my room, and a staff member passing by immediately got some from another empty room for me to use. After checking out and storing my luggage, I realized I'd left my yogurt in the fridge. The staff kindly kept it for me until I picked up my luggage in the evening. The hotel's location is its biggest advantage, situated right in the heart of the Guomao CBD, making it incredibly convenient for business travelers. However, I'm not sure what event Mercedes-Benz was hosting, but the lobby area on the first floor was swarming with their staff, making it impossible to find a seat on the sofas. It was very crowded and made waiting for a taxi a terrible experience.
The guest rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy, with soft bedding and good soundproofing. The hotel also boasts a well-equipped gym, a heated swimming pool, and even a kids' play area, offering a wide range of recreational facilities. This was my first time staying at the Park Plaza. We came because my child had an exam at the Academy of Arts and Design's attached high school. When we arrived, I didn't even realize there was a hotel next door. What drew us in was the parking lot we spotted as we drove by, and it was indeed very close to the school. The security guard at the entrance confirmed there was plenty of parking, and we were impressed to find both above-ground and underground spaces. So, we decided to book a room. The price was reasonable, not expensive at all, and the hotel had everything: a restaurant, breakfast, and a gym.
Stepping into the lobby, it was bright, and a pleasant aroma filled the air, immediately giving us a holiday vibe and easing our nerves. The young lady at the front desk was incredibly warm and thorough during check-in. She double-checked our late checkout request multiple times to ensure it was fine. Knowing we were there for our child's exam, she even extended our checkout to 3 PM, which was a very rare and thoughtful gesture. Despite many students and parents checking in, it never felt crowded. The elevators were fast, room service was prompt, and the little robot delivering items was adorable and busy.
The room itself was spacious and clean. The first night, the hot water in the bathroom wasn't very hot, possibly due to a high number of guests, but the bathtub was very comfortable, and the bedding was cozy. There was a slight creak when turning over, but it was acceptable. Staff were quick to respond to any extra requests. Parking was free after registering at the front desk.
Overall, the value for money is good. I recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay.Van€ 67

This is our third time staying at Marriott Beijing Changping, and this time we opted for the 'Flying House' themed family room. The room features a bunk bed with a slide, which completely captivated our child, keeping them entertained for a long time. The room is well-equipped with children's amenities, including a baby toilet seat, a step stool, toiletries, and bathrobes. The only downsides are some safety concerns: the stone edges of the indoor hot tub are very sharp and lack corner protectors, and the upper bunk's guardrail is quite low, requiring parents to closely supervise their children. The hot spring area offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pools, all clean, with different depths, slides, and ball pits. The water temperature is perfect for kids, satisfying their desire to play in the water. The indoor kids' play area feels a bit old, with many damaged soft mats on the floor. There were no staff members supervising or assisting during playtime, so parents with young children should definitely accompany and watch them closely. The hotel is conveniently located next to Wanda Plaza, which has plenty of dining options and children's entertainment.Van€ 89

I frequently stay at this hotel, but this time was a huge disappointment. The front desk staff who checked me in made the whole experience very unpleasant. First, parking costs money, up to 80 yuan. Second, they still require a deposit – seriously, who still does that these days? Third, you have to go down to pick up your own food deliveries. Fourth, there wasn't enough hot water. My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing was absolutely perfect, earning a full five-star review! I experienced both the main building and the traditional courtyard rooms. The location is superb, right next to Wangfujing and within walking distance to the Forbidden City, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel's design is truly unique and thoughtful. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the amenities are high-quality and smell wonderful – every detail shows great care. Our butler, Willow, provided attentive and thoughtful service; she was warm, polite, and perfectly balanced, never being intrusive. The breakfast spread was extensive, featuring both authentic Beijing specialties and delicious Western options. The afternoon tea was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. As a star-rated hotel, the sense of luxury is absolutely top-notch, and the experience was fantastic.
The location truly deserves praise; it's incredibly convenient for getting anywhere. You can walk to Metro Lines 5 and 1, making travel completely effortless. Just 50 meters to the left from the hotel entrance, there's a shopping mall with so many shopping and dining options that it's hard to choose. All your shopping and eating needs are easily met~
The room was an even bigger surprise. It was exceptionally spacious, bright, and well-lit. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an excellent view; lying down and admiring the scenery was incredibly comfortable. The facilities were also comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable. I slept like a baby, straight through till morning – the relaxation was first-class.
Breakfast is also worth mentioning. There was a rich variety of both Chinese and Western dishes, with plenty of choices, making every morning meal very satisfying.
The staff were consistently warm and polite, always thinking of the guests, and their service was incredibly thoughtful. They definitely deserve a big thumbs up!

I stayed at the Kempinski for a local getaway, and overall it was a great experience. On the day I checked in, the male manager at the front desk even upgraded my room! The in-room facilities are quite new, apparently recently renovated. For its location in Beijing, it offers excellent value for money. The bed was also a super king-size, 2 meters wide, and very comfortable to sleep on. The next day, I came back late after running errands, and the hotel was kind enough to extend my check-out time. The hotel also has a brewery and a very famous bakery. If you pay a deposit upon check-in, you can enjoy discounts there. I ate a lot of bread and cakes over these two days, and it was also very pleasant to have a drink at the brewery in the evening! The overall experience was fantastic. I had the chance to experience this 'classic' renowned hotel, and I found it quite good. Although it's a bit old and some of the facilities are dated, especially in the apartment rooms, the cleanliness is commendable and the service is excellent. The apartment rooms, despite their traditional decor and older equipment, are spacious and well-suited for families. The standard rooms have been renovated with a more modern style and contemporary amenities. While smaller, they are very comfortable to stay in. I specifically requested a high floor for a better view! I also sampled the food at 'Changan One' and 'Tea Source,' ordered a birthday cake from 'Su Yuan,' and tried the breakfast buffet. All were very satisfying. The Kung Pao Chicken at Changan One was particularly unique, and the fried chicken wings at Tea Source were similar to spicy fried chicken. The breakfast offered a rich variety, and the freshly prepared dishes were great. I was especially pleased with the gym and particularly the swimming pool. I went for a swim in the morning when it was less crowded. The pool is very large, making for a pleasant swim, and there's also a massage pool, dry sauna, and wet sauna, perfect for relaxation. I started staying at the Four Seasons about seven or eight years ago, purely by chance. Since then, whenever I go to Beijing, unless I'm specifically looking to try a different hotel, I usually choose the Four Seasons. The lotus flowers along the Liangma River are in bloom and look beautiful. I appreciate the upgrade; the room was so comfortable that even if I paid a bit more, it still felt like a great deal. The breakfast isn't as good as it used to be, but all the Four Seasons restaurants are generally excellent. I'll probably choose the Four Seasons again the next time I'm in Beijing.Van€ 196

Title: Great Location, But Triple Occupancy Details Missed the Mark
Body: We brought our child to Beijing for the summer holiday in early July and booked the Jinglun Hotel. What attracted us was its excellent location – close to Guomao (CBD) and the subway station, making it convenient to get anywhere. After staying there, the location indeed lived up to expectations, and the room was more spacious than we imagined.
However, one small detail was a bit uncomfortable: We checked in as three people, but upon entering the room, we found only two sets of toothbrushes. We had to call the front desk to get the third set. Summer holidays are peak season for family travel, so triple rooms or family rooms should, by default, be equipped with three sets of toiletries. Having guests ask for them feels a bit reactive.
Other aspects were fine. The bedding was clean, and the air conditioning cooled down quickly, which was important since Beijing was already quite hot in early July. The front desk staff was pleasant during check-out, but I hope these small details can be paid attention to in the future. Overall, it was decent, but points were deducted due to these oversights.Van€ 62
