Overzicht van de metro van Beijing
De metro van Peking is een van de grootste metrosystemen ter wereld. Het netwerk telt 29 lijnen (inclusief 2 tramlijnen), beslaat 879 km (≈ 546,19 mijl) en heeft 523 stations. Daarnaast zijn er 99 overstapstations die de verschillende lijnen met elkaar verbinden. Op dit moment zijn er acht nieuwe lijnen in aanbouw om het metronetwerk nog verder uit te breiden.
In 2024 maakten ongeveer 3,6 miljard passagiers gebruik van de metro – dat zijn bijna 1 miljoen mensen per dag. Metroticketprijzen in Beijing
De metro van Peking hanteert een tariefsysteem op basis van afstand, waarbij de prijs voor standaardritten oploopt naarmate je verder reist. Voor de twee luchthavenlijnen (Capital en Daxing) geldt echter een vast tarief in plaats van een prijs per afstand. Regelmatige reizigers profiteren van automatische maandelijkse kortingen die oplopen bij intensiever gebruik. Let er wel op dat er voor alle passagiers extra kosten in rekening worden gebracht als je langer dan 4 uur in het metronetwerk verblijft. De specifieke regels zijn als volgt:

Metrokaartjes in Beijing kopen
De metro van Peking biedt passagiers diverse betaalmethoden. Je kunt een ticket voor een enkele reis kopen bij de kaartautomaten of loketten op het station met contant geld, mobiele QR-codes (Alipay/WeChat Pay) of via contactloos betalen met buitenlandse creditcards (UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, JCB of American Express).
Voor frequente ritten is de Yikatong-kaart (fysieke kaart of mobiele NFC-versie) het handigst; deze is verkrijgbaar op stations en op te waarderen via de app of bij kiosken. Veel toeristen geven de voorkeur aan mobiele betaalapps zoals Alipay of Yitongxing, waarmee je QR-codes bij de poortjes kunt scannen zonder dat je fysieke kaartjes hoeft te kopen.
Internationale bezoekers kunnen ook direct bij het poortje inchecken met hun in het buitenland uitgegeven Visa-, Mastercard-, JCB-, American Express- of UnionPay-kaart (China) voor contactloze betaling – je hoeft dus geen apart ticket te kopen. Kan ik mijn buitenlandse creditcard gebruiken in de metro van Beijing?

Ja, de metro van Peking accepteert buitenlandse creditcards voor contactloze betalingen. Sinds 15 juni 2025 worden ook JCB- en American Express-kaarten ondersteund, naast de al bestaande UnionPay-, Mastercard- en Visa-kaarten. Hiermee is het het eerste metrosysteem ter wereld dat alle vijf de grote kaartnetwerken volledig heeft geïntegreerd. De service is beschikbaar op alle 29 lijnen en 523 stations (inclusief de Airport Express en de S2-voorstadslijn) en werkt 24/7 bij elk poortje.
Om een buitenlandse betaalkaart te gebruiken, houd je deze simpelweg bij het in- en uitchecken tegen de contactloze lezer op het poortje. Registratie of een mobiele app is niet nodig; houd je kaart gewoon even tegen de lezer totdat het poortje opent. Het systeem berekent automatisch het tarief op basis van de afgelegde afstand. Zorg er wel voor dat je kaart voorzien is van een contactloos-symbool en dat er voldoende saldo op staat voordat je op reis gaat.

Werkt je kaart niet? Het stationspersoneel helpt je graag bij het oplossen van problemen. Let op: het systeem accepteert alleen internationaal uitgegeven kaarten van Mastercard, Visa, JCB en American Express. Kaarten van deze merken die binnen China zijn uitgegeven, worden niet ondersteund. Voor sommige buitenlandse kaarten moet je mogelijk vooraf internationale transacties inschakelen. Dankzij dit systeem kunnen toeristen eenvoudig met hun eigen creditcard door de metro van Peking reizen, waardoor je reis makkelijker is dan ooit tevoren.

As an InterContinental Platinum member, I used to stay at the Regent, but now I've switched to the Legendale. The location is excellent, it offers great value for money, and I was pleasantly surprised with a suite upgrade.
The amenities in the room are high quality, no expense spared, giving off a vibe of upward mobility. The breakfast fruit was delicious, and the room itself was very well-maintained.

Here I am again, after less than a month! This time I even braved a heavy downpour to get here. My flight circled over Beijing for an hour before landing, so I didn't get to the hotel until after midnight. It was another one of those check-in and check-out on the same day trips.
I was already feeling pretty groggy, but thankfully, Bella at the front desk was incredibly warm and enthusiastic. She handled everything super quickly and thoughtfully, getting me checked in no time. Once I got to the room, I even bothered the staff to open and close the window for me. They made two trips late at night – I'm really grateful, though I regret not catching their names.
This time, my room had an even better view! When I woke up in the morning, the sun was even out, and my mood instantly brightened, just like the weather.
I got back late from lunch, but luckily, they extended my check-out time. By the way, I once again ran into the ever-elegant Ms. Rose Xiao. She checked out my room card for me at the very last minute.

The biggest highlight of the Xinqiao Hotel is its extremely convenient location – directly opposite Chongwenmen Subway Station (where Lines 2 and 5 intersect). It's incredibly easy to get to Wangfujing, Tiananmen Square, and Beijing Railway Station by subway or bus. Plus, there are malls like New World nearby.
However, the facilities are indeed quite dated. After all, it's an old hotel that opened in 1954, and some rooms have dim lighting. Some room types are windowless, which can feel a bit stuffy if you haven't confirmed beforehand. I personally recommend getting a room with a window.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, assisting us with hailing a taxi and showing us how to get to the various attractions. The hotel even provided a small map to guide us on foot to and from the Palace Museum.
Very special is this hotel very family friendly, the have connecting room for the family to stay in, for us, we can take care of our girls without open the door and go to another room.
The daily housekeeping was very thorough. The female housekeeper responsible for our rooms 715 and 716 was particularly friendly, attentive, and responsible. My daughter accidentally spilled soy milk on the carpet and bed; I informed her, and she promised to handle it. When we returned to the room that evening, the carpet and bed were spotless, without any smell or stains. We were very satisfied with the hotel's service. While there was an initial misunderstanding due to a hygiene concern which caused distress on our first night stay that I had to escalate the matter through Trip.com, the hotel manager turned the experience around. The night before check-out, we had a genuine and positive conversation at the lobby. She was humble and openly acknowledged her shortcomings and appreciated for helping her learn and grow as a leader. Good to know that a manager willing to take accountability and desire to improve. Every hotel staff we have interacted with are professional and friendly.
Aside from the good service recovery, we loved the hotel's convenience:
1. Siji Minfu Peking Roast Duck Restaurant (四季民福) is next to the hotel along with other food options in the same stretch.
2. The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street (shopping and food).
3. The fun robot that delivers food right to our doorstep!

Overall, a five-star review – I really love this hotel. I'm a foreign tourist and I've traveled to over thirty provinces and ninety cities across China. I've stayed at this hotel multiple times and have also recommended it to my friends and family.
The hotel's biggest advantage is its excellent hygiene. The rooms are spotless, and the bathrooms are equipped with smart toilets, which as a foreigner, I particularly appreciate.
I do have two issues I'd like to bring to the hotel's attention:
First, the takeaway delivery policy. For food safety reasons, the hotel doesn't allow robots to deliver food to guest rooms, so I have to go downstairs to pick it up every time I order. Several times, by the time I get my food, it's already completely cold. Sometimes, it's really inconvenient to go downstairs to pick up food right after showering. My suggestion to the hotel is this: You could prepare a food safety waiver. Guests who voluntarily sign it would acknowledge and accept the food safety risks themselves, allowing robots to deliver food to their rooms. This would both maintain the hotel's management requirements and be more convenient for guests.
Second, the bathroom scale in my room is broken and inaccurate. I weigh 180 jin, but the scale showed only 40 jin – the numbers are completely off.
Aside from these two minor issues, the hotel is five-star worthy in every other aspect. If these problems can be improved in the future, I will definitely bring my family back to stay here often.VanUS$ 132

We had such a fantastic time bringing our child to the Le Du Port Marriott this trip! My child was participating in a robotics competition, and after adding the hotel's butler, Skyller, on WeChat, they pre-checked us in so my child could rest during lunchtime. We learned it was also my child's birthday that day, and they even prepared balloons and a small cake, which made my child incredibly happy. Any requests were promptly addressed. A huge thumbs up to Skyller! 👍 The room was spacious and clean, and the children's amenities were thoughtfully prepared; the small slippers and toothbrush made my child feel really involved. Breakfast offered a wide variety, and there was even a dedicated children's serving area, making mealtime enjoyable for my little one and stress-free for us. The pool temperature was just right for splashing around and enjoying the hot springs with the kids, plus there's a children's play area. Cons: Food delivery was too slow; the delivery robot was idle, and my food wasn't delivered. The room lighting was a bit dim. The shower curtain in the bathroom didn't feel very clean; I'd suggest using a glass film instead. The mattress was slightly smaller than the bed frame, making it easy to bump my legs. When booking through Ctrip, it showed breakfast included, but if you book for two consecutive days, it's only for one day. Be sure to check the booking page, as I had to pay extra for breakfast. This wouldn't be an issue if booked separately. The lobby lounge area has been converted into a tea shop, leaving limited seating. I stayed for four consecutive nights. The check-in staff and the concierge at the entrance were very welcoming. The short-haired cleaning aunt on my floor kept the room very clean and was also very friendly. The breakfast was good too. When I checked out, they didn't ask me to write a positive review, but I was so glad I chose this place after experiencing it myself. Oh, and the views from the rooms are beautiful. The concierge and housekeeping staff were all very polite; any requests were met with prompt and quick responses. The breakfast offered a rich variety, fresh ingredients, and excellent flavors, with diverse Chinese and Western options that fully met five-star standards. The gym and swimming pool facilities are also complete and well-maintained.

Since then, whenever I go to Beijing, unless I'm specifically looking to try a different hotel, I usually choose the Four Seasons. The lotus flowers along the Liangma River are in bloom and look beautiful. I appreciate the upgrade; the room was so comfortable that even if I paid a bit more, it still felt like a great deal.
