Overzicht van de metro van Beijing
De metro van Peking is een van de grootste metrosystemen ter wereld. Het netwerk telt 29 lijnen (inclusief 2 tramlijnen), beslaat 879 km (≈ 546,19 mijl) en heeft 523 stations. Daarnaast zijn er 99 overstapstations die de verschillende lijnen met elkaar verbinden. Op dit moment zijn er acht nieuwe lijnen in aanbouw om het metronetwerk nog verder uit te breiden.
In 2024 maakten ongeveer 3,6 miljard passagiers gebruik van de metro – dat zijn bijna 1 miljoen mensen per dag. Sinds april 2025 staat het record voor het hoogste dagelijkse aantal passagiers van de metro van Peking op 13,7538 miljoen (op 12 juli 2019). Metroticketprijzen in Beijing
De metro van Peking hanteert een tariefsysteem op basis van afstand, waarbij de prijs voor standaardritten oploopt naarmate je verder reist. Voor de twee luchthavenlijnen (Capital en Daxing) geldt echter een vast tarief in plaats van een prijs per afstand. Regelmatige reizigers profiteren van automatische maandelijkse kortingen die oplopen bij intensiever gebruik. Let er wel op dat er voor alle passagiers extra kosten in rekening worden gebracht als je langer dan 4 uur in het metronetwerk verblijft. De specifieke regels zijn als volgt:

Metrokaartjes in Beijing kopen
De metro van Peking biedt passagiers diverse betaalmethoden. Je kunt een ticket voor een enkele reis kopen bij de kaartautomaten of loketten op het station met contant geld, mobiele QR-codes (Alipay/WeChat Pay) of via contactloos betalen met buitenlandse creditcards (UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, JCB of American Express).
Voor frequente ritten is de Yikatong-kaart (fysieke kaart of mobiele NFC-versie) het handigst; deze is verkrijgbaar op stations en op te waarderen via de app of bij kiosken. Veel toeristen geven de voorkeur aan mobiele betaalapps zoals Alipay of Yitongxing, waarmee je QR-codes bij de poortjes kunt scannen zonder dat je fysieke kaartjes hoeft te kopen.
Internationale bezoekers kunnen ook direct bij het poortje inchecken met hun in het buitenland uitgegeven Visa-, Mastercard-, JCB-, American Express- of UnionPay-kaart (China) voor contactloze betaling – je hoeft dus geen apart ticket te kopen. Kan ik mijn buitenlandse creditcard gebruiken in de metro van Beijing?

Ja, de metro van Peking accepteert buitenlandse creditcards voor contactloze betalingen. Sinds 15 juni 2025 worden ook JCB- en American Express-kaarten ondersteund, naast de al bestaande UnionPay-, Mastercard- en Visa-kaarten. Hiermee is het het eerste metrosysteem ter wereld dat alle vijf de grote kaartnetwerken volledig heeft geïntegreerd. De service is beschikbaar op alle 29 lijnen en 523 stations (inclusief de Airport Express en de S2-voorstadslijn) en werkt 24/7 bij elk poortje.
Om een buitenlandse betaalkaart te gebruiken, houd je deze simpelweg bij het in- en uitchecken tegen de contactloze lezer op het poortje. Registratie of een mobiele app is niet nodig; houd je kaart gewoon even tegen de lezer totdat het poortje opent. Het systeem berekent automatisch het tarief op basis van de afgelegde afstand. Zorg er wel voor dat je kaart voorzien is van een contactloos-symbool en dat er voldoende saldo op staat voordat je op reis gaat.

Werkt je kaart niet? Het stationspersoneel helpt je graag bij het oplossen van problemen. Let op: het systeem accepteert alleen internationaal uitgegeven kaarten van Mastercard, Visa, JCB en American Express. Kaarten van deze merken die binnen China zijn uitgegeven, worden niet ondersteund. Voor sommige buitenlandse kaarten moet je mogelijk vooraf internationale transacties inschakelen. Dankzij dit systeem kunnen toeristen eenvoudig met hun eigen creditcard door de metro van Peking reizen, waardoor je reis makkelijker is dan ooit tevoren.

The environment is beautiful, although the swimming pool is a bit small. But it wasn't crowded, which was nice. The room was also very new, and the kids loved it. The bed was large, a 2.2m bed, and very comfortable to sleep in. It rained at night so we didn't go out and instead had the seafood buffet. We even got to scoop our own seafood, which the kids found fun and unique. For the seafood buffet, my child even said that the chocolate and ice cream cake, which came out last around 8 PM, were the best things they ate. The concierge was very thoughtful, helping to receive a delivery, even unpacking it and bringing it up, and also helping with luggage. Amenities: They have an air purifier and a bathtub where you can enjoy a bath with a city view. At night, you can also watch movies as there are many free films available on the TV.
Service: I booked a week in advance and requested a high-floor room with the front desk. When I checked in early, there wasn't an available room yet, so I left my luggage there. When I checked in later that afternoon, the front desk provided service with a smile throughout. We were three people, and I had booked two breakfasts, but the front desk kindly gave us an extra one.
Surroundings: It's about a seven-minute walk from Sanyuanqiao Metro Station, so transportation is convenient.

During this stay, I truly experienced what it means to “be amidst the bustle, yet privately enjoy luxury.” Arriving on the afternoon of the 25th, from the moment I stepped into the lobby, that grand sense of tranquility isolated me from the noise outside the window. The room was super spacious, and the floor-to-ceiling window offered an unparalleled city skyline view, with the CCTV Headquarters (the 'big trousers') and China Zun tower side-by-side. That feeling of having the imperial capital at your feet instantly made the room rate worthwhile!
I must particularly praise the Kerry Club Lounge on the 18th floor! It was truly the highlight of my entire stay! The service from Ms. Lucy, Clara, and Seanna was simply delightful, making me feel incredibly welcome. The lounge's food, whether afternoon tea or evening happy hour, offered such a vast variety that it was hard to choose. The breakfast at 'Jia Pin Restaurant' on the morning of the 26th absolutely won me over—there were 7 ways to prepare eggs alone, plus fresh grapefruit. These kinds of details are truly a huge plus!
Although I know this hotel is a representative of the 'old money' opened in 1999, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained. That sense of profound grandeur, refined by the passage of time, is a quality new hotels simply cannot replicate. The gym and heated swimming pool are top-tier for hotels in China, with huge spaces and comprehensive equipment. Even just a swim feels like a luxury.

Our long-awaited summer family trip to Beijing, with the New Otani Hotel as our base, turned out to be a relaxed and enjoyable journey.
Located in the heart of Chongwenmen, the hotel boasts an excellent prime location. This historic hotel, having weathered the years, has shed its extravagance to offer a truly solid and comfortable stay. The rooms are clean and bright, with good soundproofing, allowing us to rest peacefully at night after days of sightseeing. The girls at the front desk were exceptionally polite; seeing that we were traveling with children and seniors, they thoughtfully upgraded our room – another pleasant surprise during our trip. The staff were patient and attentive, striking just the right balance.
The concierge service for luggage storage was convenient, and food delivery to the room was quick and easy, with Mr. Guan Longhai providing meticulous service. The housekeeping staff, Xiao Rui and Sister Haiyan, were also kind-hearted and down-to-earth. Checkout was swift; simply handing the room card to the front desk staff was all that was needed. The room was tiny, I mean, really tiny. There was no space for luggage; if you put it on the floor, you couldn't walk. I originally booked a windowless room, and they said they upgraded me to one with a window, but it faced a wall about 50 centimeters away. So, open or closed, it was dark, and if you opened it, all you heard was the buzzing of the AC unit outside, so it was better to keep it shut. The breakfast was good, and the location was decent. I don't understand why hotel ratings are always so high nowadays. It's because after you book, the front desk chases you for a 5-star review. I put my parents in a separate room at this hotel and they were upgraded when we checked in, which was very kind of the staff. Their room had a more classic feel compared to ours, but it was clean, quiet and the beds were comfortable.
They appreciated the free mini bar (sodas and water) and the convenient location. Service was consistently good. Breakfast wasn’t anything special and could be better, but it was sufficient. Their AC turned off once in the middle of the night but they fixed it. Overall my parents were happy with the stay and the hotel treated us well.VanVND 1.966.972

This is my second time staying at Peace Hotel, first time was in 2017. This time we stayed at the newer West Wing. We initially had only planned to stay one night but decided to extend our stay and stayed 5 nights this visit. The hotel gave us a voucher for complimentary art workshop. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and so did my nieces. Location of the hotel is perfect, within walking distance to few subway stations and just one block away from downtown commercial shopping. Staff are friendly, great breakfast selection, rooms are, clean and spacious. The housekeeping staff are very polite and friendly, they are constantly maintaining the cleanliness and tidyness of the space. We did not get a chance to use the pool, as the day goes by it gets pretty busy with kids, swimming cap is mandatory and can be purchased from the gym trainers. The laundry room was convenient (3 washer, 3 dryer), detergent supplied, but the dryer takes a long time to fully dry so we ended up airing our clothes in our suite. If I return to Beijing again in the future, I will definitely book this hotel again.VanVND 2.687.162

This hotel boasts an excellent location, right by Jinshi Hutong subway station, and close to the Forbidden City, the National Museum of China, and Wangfujing. It's also super convenient for visiting Jingshan Park, Shichahai, and Qianmen Street, making it highly recommended for families traveling with kids and elderly. The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. Plus, there's a 'Siji Minfu' restaurant right downstairs, and the front desk can even help you get a queue number. You can just relax in your room and wait, even if there are a hundred tables ahead of you, and head down when your turn is almost up. That's just fantastic!VanVND 1.963.100

The room was spacious and very clean. The customer service staff were very kind and helpful; anything we needed was promptly brought up by a dedicated staff member, and they patiently explained anything we didn't understand. The hotel is also very close to the subway station, which is super convenient. On sunny days, the room gets plenty of sunlight, which is lovely. This was my first time staying at the Park Plaza. We came because my child had an exam at the Academy of Arts and Design's attached high school. When we arrived, I didn't even realize there was a hotel next door. What drew us in was the parking lot we spotted as we drove by, and it was indeed very close to the school. The security guard at the entrance confirmed there was plenty of parking, and we were impressed to find both above-ground and underground spaces. So, we decided to book a room. The price was reasonable, not expensive at all, and the hotel had everything: a restaurant, breakfast, and a gym.
Stepping into the lobby, it was bright, and a pleasant aroma filled the air, immediately giving us a holiday vibe and easing our nerves. The young lady at the front desk was incredibly warm and thorough during check-in. She double-checked our late checkout request multiple times to ensure it was fine. Knowing we were there for our child's exam, she even extended our checkout to 3 PM, which was a very rare and thoughtful gesture. Despite many students and parents checking in, it never felt crowded. The elevators were fast, room service was prompt, and the little robot delivering items was adorable and busy.
The room itself was spacious and clean. The first night, the hot water in the bathroom wasn't very hot, possibly due to a high number of guests, but the bathtub was very comfortable, and the bedding was cozy. There was a slight creak when turning over, but it was acceptable. Staff were quick to respond to any extra requests. Parking was free after registering at the front desk.
Overall, the value for money is good. I recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay.VanVND 2.148.956

We had a fantastic two-night stay in a family-friendly room at the Marriott Beijing Changping. The room was spacious, clean, and incredibly cozy, featuring wall art, a carpet, a game table, a children's bathtub, bathrobes, and toiletries – everything we needed! The kids' club offered a wide variety of activities, and the bubble ocean in the Tangleqian Hot Spring was a lot of fun. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from Wanda Plaza, making it super convenient. The service was warm and attentive, and the breakfast buffet was extensive with fresh ingredients. I've lost count of how many times I've stayed at NUO Hotel Beijing. We've been coming here every time we visit Beijing since my child was very young! This time, the front desk staff, Mina, upgraded our room and gave us complimentary executive breakfast on the 25th floor, which was much appreciated! The breakfast selection was small but exquisite, and the service was excellent.
There are many kid-friendly attractions around NUO Hotel, and the pool is also very clean. Among hotels in Beijing at a similar price point, the location and value for money are top-notch. We booked a twin room this time, and they combined the beds into a super-king, just like at Universal NUO – a big thumbs up!
One minor thing: the walls in room 2023 were a little dirty. Hopefully, they can tidy that up if they see this review.VanVND 3.713.240

I booked this hotel for my father's medical appointment. It was excellent, and the front desk staff were very warm and welcoming. The room was spacious, clean, and bright, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing was absolutely perfect, earning a full five-star review! I experienced both the main building and the traditional courtyard rooms. The location is superb, right next to Wangfujing and within walking distance to the Forbidden City, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel's design is truly unique and thoughtful. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the amenities are high-quality and smell wonderful – every detail shows great care. Our butler, Willow, provided attentive and thoughtful service; she was warm, polite, and perfectly balanced, never being intrusive. The breakfast spread was extensive, featuring both authentic Beijing specialties and delicious Western options. The afternoon tea was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. This five-star hotel truly delivers on luxury, making for an exceptional experience.
The location deserves special praise – it's incredibly convenient for getting anywhere. With Metro Line 1 and Line 5 just a short walk away, getting around is completely effortless. Step out of the hotel and turn left, and you'll find Longfor Tianjie Mall within 50 meters, boasting so many shopping and dining options that you'll be spoiled for choice. All your retail therapy and culinary cravings will be easily satisfied.
The room itself was an even bigger surprise. It was incredibly spacious, bright, and filled with natural light. The floor-to-ceiling window, in particular, offered an amazing view – it was incredibly comfortable just lying there and taking in the scenery. The amenities were comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable. I slept so soundly, straight through till morning, feeling completely refreshed.
Breakfast is also worth mentioning. With a rich variety of both Chinese and Western options, there was so much to choose from, ensuring a satisfying start to each day.
The staff were consistently warm, polite, and genuinely considerate of guests' needs. Their service was incredibly thoughtful, and they definitely deserve a big thumbs up!

The hotel's location is excellent, and the overall interior design and cleanliness are impeccable. The pool is fantastic and not too crowded. There are many foreigners staying at the hotel, mainly due to its proximity to the embassy district. You can walk to many great restaurants nearby, and the bakery and German restaurant downstairs are also highlights. Being surrounded by many embassies gives you a unique feel of the capital city. The Liangma River is right next to the hotel, and we went kayaking there with my family in the evening, experiencing a unique sense of relaxation in Beijing. I had the chance to experience this 'classic' renowned hotel, and I found it quite good. Although it's a bit old and some of the facilities are dated, especially in the apartment rooms, the cleanliness is commendable and the service is excellent. The apartment rooms, despite their traditional decor and older equipment, are spacious and well-suited for families. The standard rooms have been renovated with a more modern style and contemporary amenities. While smaller, they are very comfortable to stay in. I specifically requested a high floor for a better view! I also sampled the food at 'Changan One' and 'Tea Source,' ordered a birthday cake from 'Su Yuan,' and tried the breakfast buffet. All were very satisfying. The Kung Pao Chicken at Changan One was particularly unique, and the fried chicken wings at Tea Source were similar to spicy fried chicken. The breakfast offered a rich variety, and the freshly prepared dishes were great. I was especially pleased with the gym and particularly the swimming pool. I went for a swim in the morning when it was less crowded. The pool is very large, making for a pleasant swim, and there's also a massage pool, dry sauna, and wet sauna, perfect for relaxation.
