The room window was small and couldn't be opened. There's no kitchen, washing machine, or bathtub. The wardrobe is small, and the fridge didn't seem to cool very well. The location is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the train station, and the bus stop is only 3 minutes away. There's a supermarket and a cafe right downstairs. It's a 20-minute walk to the city center, or a 4-minute Uber ride. There aren't any other restaurants nearby, so you'll definitely need to head into the city center for dining options!"

"The management's service awareness is abysmal, and the service and complaint handling were extremely disappointing. Their attitude was arrogant, showing no empathy for the unexpected situations faced by guests, and constantly using hotel policies as excuses to shirk responsibility. This was, without a doubt, the most infuriating and disappointing hotel experience I've had in many years. I had booked a twin room for 4 nights, from August 13th to 16th, and it was fully prepaid. Later, I realized I had made a mistake and requested to cancel the entire order or modify it to reduce it by two nights. After several communications, the hotel firmly refused, which I understood, as it was my fault. So, I told the hotel that if I couldn't stay for those days, I might have a friend stay instead. But I never said I wasn't coming at all. On the evening of August 13th, I arrived at London Gatwick Airport, only to find that all trains from the UK to Cambridge were temporarily canceled, preventing me from reaching the hotel. I contacted the hotel, requesting to cancel only the night of August 13th, but this request was also denied. I had plans in London afterwards, and with train delays, I finally arrived at the hotel late on the night of August 15th. I was then informed by the hotel that my reserved twin room was no longer available, and they only had a single room, but could add a small extra bed for us. I was utterly bewildered at that point. I had paid for 4 full nights, yet I couldn't get the room type I booked. Moreover, we were assigned to a corner room in a remote location, and after a long day, we had to walk quite a distance to reach it. That night, my 17-year-old daughter and I had to squeeze into a small room with an added temporary bed, which was a terrible experience. The next morning, I spoke to the Assistant General Manager, hoping to resolve the issue amicably. However, they claimed the hotel thought I wasn't coming and wasn't aware of my exact arrival date, stating that I needed to proactively inform them of my itinerary and arrival time, and that the hotel was not obligated to proactively contact guests to verify information or hold reserved rooms. The only solution they offered was to switch us to a twin room on the evening of August 16th. On August 16th, I was in London during the day, planning to take a later train back to the hotel. Without any prior notice and in our absence, the hotel directly swapped our room and assigned us to room 444, a number considered highly inauspicious for Chinese people. Throughout this entire ordeal, the hotel consistently prioritized its own policies, showing absolutely no empathy for the unexpected difficulties faced by guests. Furthermore, despite paying for 4 nights, I only stayed for 2, and even then, I couldn't get the room I booked. The management's level of service awareness is truly frustrating and infuriating!"

"I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful stay for my son’s birthday. We stayed from the 3rd to the 4th of May, and they decorated the room so beautifully, it really made him feel so special!!.... The customer service was second to none. From bringing extra pillows to helping me sort the air conditioning, nothing was too much trouble. The food, as always, was beautiful!! and the sticky toffee pudding is incredible! It was also so kind of them to give my son a takeaway box for his leftover pizza (the pizzas are massive), and to bring extra yoghurt for my baby. Those little touches really meant a lot. I honestly can’t fault this Travelodge. Even if there are ever any minor issues, they’re always sorted so quickly. I’ve been coming for years now and absolutely love bringing different members of my family along to experience it too. Thank you again for everything we’ll definitely be back soon!! 5*"

"We hielden van het hotel zelf - het was een prachtige ruimte en we hadden een geweldige service. Het was ook in een perfecte locatie en was zeer schoon. Helaas waren we gewoon teleurgesteld over hoe laag het was. Eerst hadden we buren met een echt laag, consistente barking hond. Ten tweede waren wij het tegenovergestelde van wat er schijnt te zijn als een schoonmaakapparaat - dus vanmorgen - personeel dat zich in en uit bezighield met elkaar praten. Tot slot, er was een lawaai die zo luid klinkt als een borrel en niet de hele tijd stopte. Al die geluidsoverlast heeft ons vroeg op de ochtend wakker gemaakt, wat niet is wat we wilden van een romantisch weekend weg in het hotel. Als het niet voor al die geluidsoverlast was, hadden we alles vijf gegeven, dus het is schaamte. "

"Disappointing. Unfortunately, this was not a great experience and, having stayed at Travelodge previously because they are convenient when travelling with our dog, I would not stay at this particular hotel again. The one real positive was the lovely receptionist, Hafsan, who welcomed us when we arrived. She was extremely helpful, polite and friendly and gave off a lovely vibe. There was also another lady on reception the following morning who was helpful when I spoke to her later and gave me Hafsan’s name. We had a family room and we had one small fan, but it really didn’t make any difference. None of the four of us slept properly, and we also had our dog with us who was clearly struggling with the heat. The double bed was comfortable, but the two single beds were not particularly comfortable. It may have been partly due to the extreme heat, as none of us had much sleep at all. Breakfast was, quite frankly, a shambles. The layout doesn’t make sense to me. The food and self service area is at the back, meaning people have to walk through the seating area where others are eating to get to it. There was a constant flow of people walking backwards and forwards through the tables, which made the whole experience quite chaotic. There were also long waits for food to be replenished. Even after a member of staff was told that things needed filling up, we were still waiting for quite some time. At one point there was no milk, and I also heard another guest mention that some of the advertised fruit wasn’t available. There seemed to be several people who were unhappy with the breakfast service. When I spoke to a couple of members of staff afterwards about the breakfast, I didn’t find them particularly welcoming or helpful. They looked miserable, which unfortunately added to the overall experience. I really think the layout could be improved. It would make much more sense to have the kitchen/self service area first, so guests can collect their food and then move through to the seating area, rather than having to walk through people who are already eating. I stayed at a Holiday Inn in Cambridge a few nights later and their layout worked exactly this way, with the food area first and the seating afterwards, and it made much more sense. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. The helpfulness of Hafsan was our highlught, but unfortunately that couldn’t make up for the problems with the rooms, the heat, lack of sleep and the breakfast experience. I’ve stayed in Travelodge hotels before and have generally found them convenient, particularly when travelling with a dog, but this particular stay was not a good experience and I would not stay here again."

"Cambridge is an expensive town. That said, the price of the room did not reflect the amenities or the size of the room. Basically, the bathroom was so small as to be useless, and the bedroom very poorly lit and felt cluttered. The hotel is on top of a very cozy pub near Jesus Green, and within a comfortable walk to city centre. The room was clean and relatively quiet (the pub/hotel are located at a big intersection with frequent traffic). It would be ideal if the room price was closer to 100£, rather than 200£…"

"De enige les die ik van deze reis naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk heb geleerd, is dat ik in de toekomst slechte hotels moet vermijden. Door een fout had ik de verkeerde data geboekt en kon ik pas een minuut later annuleren. Uiteindelijk moest ik mijn plannen wijzigen en een extra dag blijven. De kamer had geen föhn en er was geen telefoonnummer van de receptie, wat al erg genoeg was. Ze rekenden per apparaat voor wifi en parkeren, wat ik nog wel kon accepteren. Maar op de eerste dag zat er een vis in het bad en was de afvoer verstopt. Op de t****e dag was het toilet ook verstopt! Ik was sprakeloos. 😓"
