Pros: First of all the service I got from the receptionist was really good, she had someone carry my bags to the room and the location of the hotel is close to the airport which is very convenient for traveling after your stay.
Cons: The room had a strong smell of paint, it was so bad I couldn't even breathe as all the windows were closed upon my arrival.
The pillow cases in the bedroom didn't look clean to me I used my clothes to lay my face on because it was just nasty.
The shower is not convenient to use, it's too small and you cannot move the shower head to a desired position.
There was no fan or airconditioner in the bedroom, it was really hot.
The furniture is outdated, some couches with holes in them it's a mess
Overall, I will not sleep here ever again! The money charged is clearly just for being close to the airport because it is too much for that room.

Negatives:
We checked-in around 2am due to a late flight and was encountered by one of the rudest receptionist in all our travels. Examples include:
- No greetings when we arrive
- Throughout the check-in process, barely said a word (with exception of last point)
- Unable to find our booking because she
used the wrong check-in date, but did not apologise
- When she passed us 2 keys, we assumed the check-in process were completed for 2 rooms and moved towards the room. In her words, she said “Friend, where do you think you guys are going? We are not done yet”

This hotel is located just outside O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. While you will need a taxi, rental car, or shuttle to reach the hotel, the journey is well worth it. There are no nearby dining facilities within walking distance, but the hotel boasts an on-site Irish pub that serves excellent food. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is outstanding. The hotel is fully gated with security measures in place, providing peace of mind during your stay in Johannesburg.

Review for OR Tambo Guest House
I recently stayed at OR Tambo Guest House for three nights and had a great experience. Since my flight arrived very late at night, the staff kindly suggested a driver to pick me up, which was incredibly thoughtful and made my arrival stress-free.
The guest house was impeccably clean (5/5), and the service was excellent (5/5) – the staff was friendly, accommodating, and attentive throughout my stay. The location was convenient (4/5), being close to the airport, though not much else is within walking distance.
The amenities were decent (4/5), offering all the basics I needed for a comfortable stay. While the aesthetic wasn’t my favorite (3/5), it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Breakfast had limited options, but I wasn’t upset about it – it was enough to start the day.
Overall, it’s an affordable place to stay, offering great value for the price. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and convenient spot near OR Tambo Airport.

I was transferring from Johannesburg to Shanghai when I called the service, and they ordered a taxi to pick me up. At first, my card was declining, but they were so patient until the payment went through. They were very kind, and the service was great. Every time I visit Johannesburg, I will be staying there. The apartment had two separate bedrooms, but I only used one, along with a kitchen and living room suitable for two families. I really enjoyed my stay.

Onomo Hotel’s proximity to Nelson Mandela Square Mall is a stone throw away, you literally just cross the small road from the mall exit point straight into the hotel
Their breakfast was good however there’s need to add on variety and vegetables!
The rooms are small but clean linen. The TV’s are not smart ones that in some rooms there’s no internet TV accessed.
The bathrooms comes with a humid kinda odor that l think emanates from the pipes but they will be clean
WiFi connection was not as good had to have room changes done.
Bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, morning shoes and morning gown, they don’t offer all that!
Reception ladies were not as welcoming even upon enquiring!
The concierge, waiters and housekeeping team were very hospitable!

The total stay was great . Could do with a revamp as the bathrooms are a bit old .which the exceptional service made up for.

GGuest UserChecked in and had to wait for an hour for electricity no updates provided my room was near the power room so I could hear doors opening and closing and the electricity physically clicking and tripping. On and off on and off. When I settled into bed with light off, I received a knock at the door by guest asking me to open the gate for them as they did not receive a gate key. I a single female then had to get up put on clothes and go outside to let their guest out. I got over the lights shining into room and gaps in front door leading to courtyard with a blind that was blowing forward and basically showing me inside in any state. The electricity issue was happening consistently and could hear them walking in and out constantly. Wednesday I had a big presentation and got up at 05:30 to no electricity or update. I had to call them for information and was offered a flash light. I did my presentation with my hair undone due to not being able to use my hair machine. The owner found me in the smoking section and apologised worried he would be receiving a 1 star. I told him I wouldnt as I am in the service industry and him apologising is good enough. However I was further disappointed by more electricity issues and no update. I had to get ready with front door open and all blinds open to do my hair and makeup. Guests were walking past requesting updates, we had to reach out to them. No information provided. Shocking.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at this hotel and while it’s not a five-star property, the experience was genuinely pleasant overall. The biggest highlight was definitely the staff, they were incredibly friendly, warm, and enthusiastic. From check-in to check-out, they made us feel welcome and valued, which truly makes a difference.
They also recommended a restaurant nearby, and it turned out to be an excellent suggestion. The food was delicious and the service there was outstanding as well.
The rooms are well-equipped with practical amenities, including a microwave, stove, washing machine, and even two bedrooms in one unit, which makes it very convenient for families or longer stays.
That said, there is room for improvement when it comes to hygiene and overall maintenance. There was a slight musky smell in parts of the hotel, and the cleaning standards could be improved.
Despite this, we genuinely enjoyed our stay, mainly because the staff’s kindness and professionalism really stood out. With some attention to maintenance and cleanliness, this hotel has the potential to be even better.

Also..the staff?? Super great people and very polite! We got a free upgrade to a luxury room upon checking in!! Also, the views from our room were breathtaking!!
We also loved that they were able to keep our bags when we checked out till we were ready to leave!
The breakfast had a variety and it was great too! Will definitely definitely be staying here everytime when we are in Sandton!! ..

GGuest UserSeamless/Efficient Check without a lot of admin, very clean and well put together room unfortunately even though it was a special assistance room that was available when I booked (I just needed to rest, so I didn't mind it at all). I wish the bathroom had it it's own mop though for the shower regardless since water spills literally everywhere due to it having no shower glass (assuming for wheelchair accessibility), but it's not a good sight when the water droplets are on the entire bathroom floor without any proper cleaning equipment. Also, wasn't impressed by the wifi/TV's internet browser, one couldn't watch YouTube seamlessly because the tabs kept crashing every 3minutes, ended up switching off the TV and using my phone. Otherwise, it was a nice experience.

KKRyoucaihuaThis is definitely the best choice for a transit stay at Johannesburg Airport. It's less than a 10-minute walk from the terminal, located right on top of the parking garage, so you don't even have to go outside, which feels very safe.
