Mijn vrouw en ik hebben hier tijdens onze levensduur gebleven en het personeel kon niet meer voor ons gemakkelijker zijn geweest. Ze hadden mijn bruiloftspak gedrukt en schoongemaakt binnen een dag en op de dag van onze bruiloft hadden we onze bruiloft bloemen geleverd aan de voorkant en ze leverden ze naar onze kamer. Het hotel is zeer mooi buiten en nog indrukwekkender binnen, onze kamer was massaal, zeer schoon en goed gepresenteerd. We hadden een heerlijk maaltijd in het restaurant in het hotel en we praten nog steeds over hoe goed elke cursus was (vooral de dessert). Ik wil zeggen dat iedereen in het hotelteam dat we tijdens onze verblijf met elkaar hebben gewisseld, zo vriendelijk en handig was en na onze bruiloft hebben ze allemaal een poging gedaan om ons te komen en te feliciteren, die echt veel voor ons heeft betekend. Het hotel ligt vlak naast de prachtige regeringstuinen, een prachtig park en een paar minuten lopen van de weg is een geweldige reeks heerlijke restaurants."

"My wife and I stayed here near the start of our tour of New Zealand and what a great start it was. The setting is stunning and the room was beautiful, with a panoramic view of Lake Rotorua. Sam was waiting for us as we arrived and very kindly showed us around, and to our room. All of the staff were very friendly, polite and welcoming. Mel makes a very good ‘Old Fashioned’ and was very informative and happy to chat about his Māori heritage. The only issue we had was the noise made by the occupants above us who seemed to be walking around in hard soled shoes on a hard floor. This kept us awake until after 01:30am. We asked to be moved and were swapped to a 1st floor room a couple of nights after. Although the noise wasn’t completely the fault of the hotel, I would recommend asking for an upstairs room. Some better insulation or softer floor surface would help to minimise disturbance to ground floor residents. Despite the above, I would highly recommend the hotel because of the location and staff."

"We returned a week ago from spending 2 weeks in New Zealand. The Solitaire Lodge in Rotorua was the best place we stayed in New Zealand. The proprietors, Wayne and Ingrid (who have owned it for about 20 years), were personally attentive the entire visit, including greeting us on arrival and walking out to see us off on departure. The setting and the view from our room was spectacular. Our room was extremely nice, and the food and service were great."

Na 11 uur is de hoofdingang gesloten, dus de gasten moeten hun kaart scannen om in de lobby te komen, en weer scannen om toegang te krijgen tot hun kamergolf. Ik vind deze beveiligingsregeling echt leuk. De locatie is ook uitstekende zeer dicht bij het centrum van de stad, met eenvoudige toegang tot restaurants en supermarkten."

"We stayed at Hana Lodge as a family group of five families, with ages ranging from 8 to 71 years old. One of the main reasons I chose Hana Lodge was because I wanted to experience the atmosphere of a grand country estate. I also noticed they offered a whole-house rental with a full kitchen and laundry facilities, which was perfect for our large family. However, upon arrival, I realized that the house we rented was a separate unit away from the main lodge and estate building. This was quite disappointing, as it was not what I had expected from the photos and description. Since we were travelling with elderly family members who have some mobility challenges, as well as young children, having to drive between our house and the main lodge was not very convenient. We arrived late on our first evening, and the property was very dark. Combined with the quiet surroundings, it felt a little intimidating at night. However, the next morning completely changed my impression. Driving into the estate during daylight revealed the beautiful grounds and the true manor-like atmosphere that I had been hoping for. The property is peaceful, elegant, and full of character. Breakfast was excellent. There was a buffet selection including bread, fresh fruits, yogurt, cheese, marinated fruits, and cereals. Guests could also choose a main breakfast dish from the menu. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. After breakfast, we explored the grounds. The weather was lovely, the sky was bright blue, and the entire estate looked stunning. We even saw alpacas, which delighted both the children and adults. There was also a beautiful bamboo grove. Unfortunately, the paths were not wheelchair-friendly, and the uneven rocky surfaces made it difficult for our elderly family members to access the area. While walking around, we discovered a pathway connecting the main lodge and our house, which was helpful. Nevertheless, I still felt a little disappointed that the rental house was separated from the main estate, as it reduced the immersive manor experience that I was looking forward to. The house itself is somewhat dated, but everything functioned well. We raised a few issues during our stay, and the staff were patient, helpful, and provided reasonable explanations. Their service was appreciated. For guests visiting in winter and planning to rent the whole house, I would recommend requesting that the unit be pre-heated before arrival. Visitors from warmer countries, especially in Asia, may find the house quite cold when they first arrive. We also had to spend some time figuring out how to operate certain heaters, as there was limited guidance available. That said, the lodge may not have known our specific needs, and we did not inform them in advance that we might require additional instructions. Overall, despite some disappointments regarding the location of the rental house and accessibility challenges for elderly guests, we enjoyed our stay. The estate itself is beautiful, the breakfast is excellent, and the peaceful surroundings make it a memorable place to visit. If I return to Hana Lodge in the future, I would choose a different season, as I imagine the gardens and grounds would be even more spectacular when all the plants are in full bloom."
