"This is like an apartment of other Hotel, there is no reception on this hotel. You have to get everything from the other hotel next to it.
this is Swiss Wooden Hotel, so simple and nice. It is not like hotel in the city. My room is big enough for 3. Just have a small table to eat but we mange it.
Shower is ok but it is too tall for my mom (she is 5ft 4 ) to climb in. She is old so she needs to sit 1st and climb in. there is left but still need to walk a bit stair with your luggage.........
You can ask the reception in the other hotel for hot water, hair dryer."

"The location was excellent, just near Zermatt Bahnhof and easily accessible from most places. The room came with a balcony overlooking the mountains, offering a stunning view — we even watched black neck sheep while enjoying our dinner and coffee.
The stay was comfortable overall, though note that no amenities like toothbrushes or shavers were provided. Breakfast offered a decent spread of continental options with limited hot food, but the croissants were especially commendable."

"My stay at this hotel was a wonderful experience!
The hotel was priced at 500 euros per night for my room...
Personally, I thought it was well worth it!
This is because
(1) A light course dinner is included
(2) Breakfast buffet is included
(3) It costs 60 euros round trip & takes about 1.5 hours to climb up here, so you can't get up and down so much and you don't know the weather on the mountain.
The mountain railroad ends at 20:00 at night, so from then until morning, the top of the mountain will be monopolized by hotel guests.
So, considering all these factors, I thought it was rather a good deal.
In fact, I was able to capture the cloudless Matterhorn on my way home after checking out at the very end!
So I recommend this hotel"

"This is one of the only affordable options available in Zermatt but I’d recommend avoiding it. The property is at 45meter high which became a challenge to go up with luggage. Then when you reach there sadly i had opted for a 8 bed room which was on the 4th floor which didn’t have lift 🥲.
Then when i reached my room it turned out to a common tiny attic again entryway via another stairs with laid out communal style attached beds. It was so bad that if i extended both my arms i’d cover other people. You can imagine homeless people sleeping together.
The amenities are available outside and it has good breakfast and WiFi was my savior. If you are really on a budget choose something not the cheapest option here."

"Trip.com did not state the linen fee charges per person on their website. When I arrived I was shocked that a 4CHF per person per night has turned in a 78 CHF payment which is a huge discrepancy. However, it took me about 2 hours and I resolved this with the service reception of Alpen. There is no main reception in this lobby but the service providers were superb. The room is amazingly spacious and clean and it was an overall lovely stay thanks to the great service and comfort of the room."

"The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from the train station, which is very convenient. However, check-in needs to be done at another hotel located behind this one, which can be a bit confusing at first. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Please note that the hotel entrance is accessed via a long and slippery staircase. Guests traveling with large or heavy luggage, elderly travelers, or those with mobility issues should take extra care.
The room is very small and the soundproofing is quite poor, especially in the bathroom,even turning around can be a challenge.As the hotel faces the road, there is no view of the Matterhorn.
Overall, the stay was acceptable and reasonable for a short stay."

"The hotel is perfect. At first when I look at the photos, I thought it would be a cozy small wooden room which is a little bit worn out. But no! Everything is so new and clean. The location is perfect! Center of everything! Breakfast got a wide range of choices too. Staff are nice. One downside of the hotel is that for me, the pillow is wayyy too flat. I have to put the towels from the bathroom under the pillow. Other than that, perfect!"

IIzzaPizzaThoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The excellent service rendered by the staff made our honeymoon much sweeter. Everyone was friendly, kind and always willing to help. Room was really nice and the extra sauna and open concept bathtub was a nice surprise! Breakfast spread was super delicious as well. Facilities like the wellness area include foot bath, infrared chairs, jacuzzi etc.

HHarmonickFor a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!

3. Veel ramen en prachtig uitzicht
4. Het ontbijt is goed, maar de servicegerichtheid van de man die de omelet heeft gemaakt is erg slecht
5. De matras is ingedeukt en het kussen is te zacht, waardoor het oncomfortabel is om op te slapen.
6. Het zwembad en het massagebad zijn comfortabel en de apparatuur in de fitnessruimte is prachtig.
7. Ik opende het raam een beetje voor ventilatie, maar er vlogen veel muggen naar binnen. Ik sloot het onmiddellijk na een paar minuten. De volgende dag, nadat de schoonmakers het hadden schoongemaakt, waren alle muggen dood en vlogen er geen muggen meer naar binnen. Ik geloof dat ze een manier hebben om muggen te doden en te voorkomen dat ze naar binnen vliegen, maar de lijken van muggen vielen op mijn persoonlijke bezittingen...
8. Uitchecken Het hotel regelde zorgvuldig een chauffeur en een speciale auto om ons naar het treinstation te brengen, zodat we onze bagage niet hoefden te sjouwen! Bonuspunten!

Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable.
Very near the zermatt train station, just opposite of Macdonald’s.
Breakfast had a good selection.
Housekeeping would check in on you and offer free chocolates.
The only feedback I have is the room didn’t provide English instructions on how to dial the concierge so I had to walk down to request for items.

GGastgebruikerThe hotel was in 5 minutes walking from Zermatt train station and it offered free shuttle for check in and out as there was a steep path to the hotel entrance, not good to walk with luggages. I booked 2 bedrooms family suite but only with one bathroom which was the downside. However, the total space of 60 meter sq with a decent living room and a small balcony facing Matterhorn were a plus to the overall stay. There were some minor defects and the staff fixed efficiently. They had an indoor pool, a jacuzzi and a sauna room. I had to mention that the jacuzzi was of high standard and you must go after a day of hiking. So bring your swimming suit. However, please note that in there culture, no clothes are allowed to enter the sauna room and it is in mixed genders. The breakfast buffet was lack of choices. But I had to specially name Mr Fernando, he always welcome us with very good coffee and of course his warm greetings in the morning.
Suggestion to the hotel:
1. Stated clearly the number of bathroom/ toilet in the booking details regarding my booking is a 2 bedrooms suite.
2. More choices for breakfast, my family stays 4 nights there. Everyday, the menu is same.
3. The pool was closed at 8pm, will be better if it closes at 9pm as it was rather rush for the guests to use after dinner.
Overall, I recommend this hotel to family. I will come back again.

GGastgebruikerI wish to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Hotel Bistrols from Dec 16 to Dec 17.
During my stay, I experienced an incident that left me quite unsettled. Around 20 mins after my check-in to the hotel, another group of tourists (think was a couple) was able to use hotel access card to access my room, we, both parties are shocked and super embarrassed. This situation raised significant concerns about the security protocols in place at the hotel. As a guest, I expect a certain level of safety. If the room was accidentally opened without my presence, I am not sure whether my belongings are going to disappear, this situation made me had just a light sleep throughout the whole stay.
The lack of adequate security measures not only compromised my sense of safety but also made me question the overall management of the hotel. In an age where guest security is paramount, I believe that Hotel Bistrols should prioritize ensuring that all rooms are properly secured and that guests feel safe throughout their stay.
A point to add is that the receptionist has poor attitude towards her service. The whole experience which I would not consider to give this hotel another try in future.
I hope that the hotel will take my concerns seriously and address these issues for future guests.

GGastgebruikerKristiane checked us in, and out of the hotel. She's the most attentive person so far that I've met, among the hotels that I have stayed in. Not only that, she got our issues fixed within the day, with a good sense of humour. The hotel breakfast was above average, some selection of cheeses, ham, salami, yoghurt, and drinks dispensed from the machine. I chose this hotel as it was close to Zermatt Bahnhof, and I did not regret it. A relatively new hotel, with a faint smell of wood in the room. The heating in the room can be a wee bit stronger, it means the insulation is good while we tuned down the central heating throughout our stay when the external temp is subzero. It's a gorgeous hotel, I have a narrow window view of the Matterhorn. Not to mention that the hotel is right next to McDonald's and two coffee shops. Overall, it was a splendid experience for us staying at Derby. If you were guessing, this isn't a sponsored review. We were just very happy travellers.

Nestled high above Zermatt, the Riffelhaus 1853 is accessible via the Gornergrat railway, making the journey itself an adventure. Once you arrive, you’re greeted by panoramic mountain views in every direction, with the iconic Matterhorn standing proudly in front of you. The setting is perfect for ski-in/ski-out access in winter and stunning hiking trails in summer.
Rooms – 9/10
The rooms are cozy, modern, and well-equipped while still maintaining a classic Swiss alpine charm. Many rooms come with Matterhorn views, and waking up to this scenery is an experience in itself. The beds are comfortable, and the rustic wooden decor gives a warm, welcoming feel. Some rooms have balconies, which I highly recommend booking for the full experience.

The staff is friendly, professional, and attentive. Despite the hotel’s remote location, the service is top-notch, with staff going out of their way to accommodate special requests. From seamless check-in to helpful local recommendations, they make the stay even more special.
Dining – 8.5/10
The on-site restaurant serves delicious Swiss cuisine, including traditional dishes like fondue and rösti. The breakfast is generous, featuring fresh bread, cheeses, meats, and eggs cooked to order. The only downside is that, due to the remote location, dining options are limited to the hotel restaurant, but the quality makes up for it.
Wellness & Spa – 10/10
The outdoor hot tub with a view of the Matterhorn is an absolute highlight! There’s also a sauna and steam bath, perfect after a day of skiing or hiking. Soaking in the warm water while surrounded by snow-capped peaks is an experience worth every penny.
Activities – 10/10
Winter: Perfect for skiing, as the hotel is directly on the slopes. The ski room is convenient, and the access to the Gornergrat ski area is unbeatable.
Summer: Incredible hiking trails with direct access to the Gornergratbahn for easy excursions to higher altitudes.

GGastgebruikerZermatt is an expensive town so we were happy we could save a bit with the hotel. We were worried at first based on the reviews saying it was a bit noisy but we had no issues up on the higher floor we stayed on. We would recommend this hotel if you're staying for just a night or two and are looking to control your budget while in Zermatt because eating out and the activities here are expensive.
The room was just a place to sleep. We had two twin beds with slats underneath that were a bit loose and they fell out when I sat down but after we fixed it we found the beds to be comfy enough. The rooms are dated with older furniture and a mix of furniture and lighting. There was a small TV and a DVD player but we saw no need to use them with all the things to do and see in Zermatt. We did hear a little bit of noise from the bars at the street level but it wasn't too bad. If you get a lower floor you may want to consider bringing your own earplugs.
The bathroom was interesting. There was a pretty big jacuzzi style bath tub with a shower head attachment - I am tall and I had to sit down to shower but my shorter wife had no issues. The bathroom had a towel warming rack with an interesting extension to hang light clothing but it did not warm. The lighting was a little dim but the lights above the sink did not work and those would have helped.
The breakfast at the hotel was nice and they had a nice variety of fruit, breads, Swiss cheese and some hardboiled egg. They had juice, milk and could make coffee to order as well. The hotel had laundry machines and some popular restaurants on site.
The location is the best part about this hotel. It is a 5 minute walk to the train station and very centrally located. It is close to the Gornergrat Bahn, Matterhorn Museum and the church Eglise St. Mauritius. The viewing platform of the Matterhorn at the church is great to watch the sunrise hit the tip of the Matterhorn and it is not too busy so if you have a clear day it is worth the short walk and getting up early. We went in early November so not all the hotels, shops and restaurants were open yet but there was more than enough open to keep us happy.
The hotel does not have an elevator and the stairs are a little narrow so do not bring too much to visit Zermatt. We loved Zermatt and appreciated this hotel for its affordability and location. If you are not looking for anything too fancy the Hotel Helvetia will work for sleeping and some down time.
It is important to note that Zermatt does not allow cars but we found parking affordable and accessible at Täsch railway station and very frequent train service to and from Zermatt.
