Ik had een prachtig verblijf bij Ruby Charm Houses. De gastheer was erg aardig. Hij bood me persoonlijk welkom buiten toen ik aankwam en kwam ook afscheid nemen toen ik vertrok. Hij gaf me geduldig reisvoorstellen die afgestemd waren op de duur van mijn verblijf en herinnerde me aan belangrijke dingen die ik tijdens mijn reis in gedachten moest houden. Het milieu is mooi en ontspannen, perfect voor ontspanning, maar helaas was mijn tijdschema te streng om het volledig te genieten. Het meest bemoeide mij de gedachtevolle gastvrijheid: er werden genoeg voedsel van hoge kwaliteit, vers fruit, dranken en zelfs lokale rode wijn geleverd. Alles was goed voorbereid met grote zorg. Over het algemeen was het een uitstekende ervaring en ik waardeerde echt de aandacht van de gastheer aan de details.

Vorig jaar had ik een fantastisch verblijf in Menina Colina en kon ik niet wachten om terug te keren. Helaas had ik nu liever ergens anders geboekt, want het was een regelrechte teleurstelling. De prijzen zijn een stuk hoger dan een jaar geleden, maar ik dacht dat ik een goede deal had voor de tuinkamer. Het blijkt veel te duur te zijn voor wat het biedt, want het heeft niets van het verfijnde design of de aandacht voor detail die de kamers aan de binnenkant wel hebben. Het lijkt ook verwaarloosd qua onderhoud. Het koffiezetapparaat lekte, en nadat ik het had gemeld, werd gezegd dat het mijn schuld was omdat ik het verkeerd gebruikte. Ik moest het lekkende water fysiek aan een medewerker laten zien voordat ze akkoord gingen met het vervangen ervan. Ik was erg geïrriteerd dat ze vonden dat ze me moesten uitleggen hoe het werkt in plaats van het meteen te vervangen. De volgende teleurstelling was dat de kamer aanvankelijk helemaal niet werd schoongemaakt en er geen uitleg werd gegeven. Als je $165 betaalt voor een middelmatige kamer (exclusief ontbijt), zou je op zijn minst verwachten dat de vuilnisbakken geleegd worden. De badkamer had ook een vreselijke geur die de hele kamer doordrong, en muggen waren ook een probleem. Het management bood me wel lunch aan of deelname aan hun fadovoorstelling, maar geen van deze regelingen paste in mijn drukke programma. Ik dacht dat een kleine financiële compensatie logischer was geweest. Dat gebeurde niet, en er werd verder niets vermeld of besproken bij het uitchecken. Het laatste probleem was het online uitchecken, wat ze vereisen. Toen ik dat probeerde te doen, stond mijn rekening voor mijn hele verblijf, hoewel 3 van de 4 nachten al maanden van tevoren waren betaald. Mijn conclusie is dus helaas dat de normen bij Menina Colina aanzienlijk zijn gedaald en dat het te duur is voor het gebrek aan aandacht voor details dat op verschillende punten duidelijk zichtbaar is.

One of the Best Serviced Apartments We’ve Stayed At This was easily the best serviced apartment we’ve stayed at recently. All the facilities were brand new, and the cleanliness—especially in the kitchen and bathroom—surpassed even some 4-star hotels. Everything we needed was provided, and the interior design was excellent. The bed was also very comfortable. Great location, great price, great amenities. Here are a few potential downsides that might matter to some guests: • The internet was very slow. The Wi-Fi signal on the second floor was the strongest, so we used that, but it was barely sufficient for even checking emails. It felt as if the connection was intentionally throttled. If you need stable internet for work, tethering through your phone might actually be faster. • No elevator. Our unit was located on the second floor, and we had to carry about 30kg of luggage up the stairs ourselves. Even a small, old-fashioned lift would have been a huge help. • Noise from upstairs. Although the apartment was newly renovated, the flooring is still the original wooden structure, so noise from the upper floor can be heard. We were tired enough to sleep through it with earplugs, but sensitive guests should take this into account. Booking the top-floor unit might solve this issue, though that means climbing even more stairs. • Early check-in confusion. We had requested an early check-in, but it wasn’t communicated properly. As a result, we had to drop off our luggage at the YOUROPO office, which is about a 6–7 minute walk from the apartment. I wonder if we could’ve left our luggage directly at the property if the message had gone through properly—perhaps someone from the team could clarify? Despite these minor issues, I would still give this property a full 5 stars. If we visit Porto again, YOUROPO will be at the top of our list.

Pros - Location - easy access to Porto downtown area (3 metro stations to Sao Bento) - I choose travelling by metro as walking uphill and downhill in Porto is really tiring! - Room size as well as toilet - spacious enough even for two people, facilities - I like the kettle for boiling hot water. - Water from the shower very powerful and comfortable. - 2 bakery cafes nearby for taking breakfast (with reasonable price), one Chinese restaurant nearby provides hot food. Cons - Did not expect there was nobody at hotel front desk upon my arrival. With the help of a kind lady, I could communicate with the hotel staff via whatsapps and was able to check in without problem. ( I would like to say thanks to that kind lady) - No elevator, staying at lower floors is preferrable. - the room floorings had a cracking sound while walking, may be the building was a little bit old.

We stay in Porto for 2 nights and the apartment location is great, near to most of the attractions and there is supermarket nearby. There is free parking which is great to us.The Host is great and nice. We need to say that there is great service but not the hardware, our group is 5pax, the 5th person who stay in the living room with sofa bed, there is no curtain with a huge windows and no Air-con. The temperature is under 10c at the night time and my fd got a cold. One of the bedroom the air-con is not heated, even the host try to fix it, it didn’t work. The host offer a protable heater finally. We encountered a boiler issues on the first day, there is no hot water after 2 showers, we wait for a very long time to get the water heating, we need to have a very good plan on the second day to complete 5 showers. Lol

Clean and well-located, but AVOID the basement ‘double room’ The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and in a great location with friendly service. However, I stayed in the basement-level ‘double room’. It’s located at the front of the property, directly at street level, with two small windows facing the pavement — making it difficult to get fresh air or natural light, and quite noisy due to passing pedestrians and cars, even with the windows shut and earplugs in. The photos captures many of the other room types charming features, which can be misleading for the double room in basement. In this particular room, ventilation was poor due to its position, and a musty smell from the bathroom lingered throughout the space. Given the price of this ‘double room’, it’s better off booking elsewhere — somewhere less charming but more practical — OR booking the other room types I assume are upper-level room to avoid the drawbacks of this front-facing basement unit.

A great place to stay in Porto! The location was unbeatable and the check in was really smooth as we could just get the keys from a safety box at the door. All the check in information was received days before. Just make sure to check the messages for the correct address as it is not the one in the listing. The apartment was very clean, had all the kitchen utensils that were needed for our stay. AC worked perfectly. Would definitely stay here again!

Before I booked this hotel, I read a lot of negative reviews in Trip.com, but I know all of the bad reviews are nonsense. As a professional traveller, I responsible to say, this hotel are worth of money, this room rate with private bath room, double bed, even they prepared safe for guests, and the cleanliness are 9/10, and just opposite the railway station, metro, location 10/10. If you stay here, I recommend you have your meal at restaurant just next-door before here, Churrasqueira da Estação de Campanhã, the grill and the rice you definitely need it, especially if you're Asian, but non halal. I will rate this hostel 9/10, because no hairdryer, and the bed sheet got smell, I think is because no sunlight. And the front desk family super kind.

The room was small but good enough for a solo traveller like myself. I was very surprised on the quality of cleanliness and daily housekeeping - for this price it was truly commendable. The towels were exceptionally clean, and I did not get rashes unlike a previous time at a five star hotel elsewhere. There was only a shampoo-body wash in the toilet but it was manageable. I like how convenient it was to Bolbao metro station and the supermarket was directly below the hotel. There were many good restaurants a stone's throw away. While I was worried at first of the few homeless men when I left my room early to head out for my day tours, I later realised that they leave tourists alone. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, safety and friendliness of the city. I would strongly reccommend Porto and this hotel to solo female travellers.

I recently spent four nights at Aparthotel Oporto Sol, and while my stay was overall okay, it came with a few drawbacks. First, the location is a bit outside the main area of Porto, which required some extra effort to get into the heart of the city. While the surroundings were quiet and less crowded, I did find myself relying on public transport or taxis more than I would have liked. One of the main issues was the absence of air conditioning in the bedroom. During my stay, the temperatures were warm, and it made things uncomfortable at night. Opening the windows was not an option due to the presence of mosquitoes outside, which meant I struggled to find a comfortable sleeping temperature. On the positive side, the apartment itself was spacious and generally clean. The amenities were adequate for my needs, and the staff was friendly and helpful, albeit a few blocks over. I appreciated the kitchenette, which allowed me to prepare some of my own meals during my stay. In summary, while my stay at Aparthotel Oporto Sol had its merits, the lack of air conditioning and its location outside the main area impacted my overall experience. If you're sensitive to heat or prefer to be in the city center, you may want to consider other options. Otherwise, it serves as a decent accommodation for those seeking a quieter spot.
