Perugia Plaza Hotel

"A decent hotel but personally not worth the price. The bar was constantly closed and we had to ask the front desk just to make a coffee, even over the weekend when you think they would want to make money. Location is no man’s land with some groceries and a highway next to you VERY far from center. WiFi was ok, some issues going out and in. The pool was the highlight as we had it to ourselves for both days. Room cleaning was nice and prompt, what we would expect. Personally both days we woke up with horrible allergies likely from their poor ventilation system. Could not open windows due to a sign from hotel suggesting Beatles would get in seasonally. Not justified for the price, just ok."

Borgo Dei Conti Resort Relais & Chateaux

"We stayed here for 2 nights whilst touring Tuscany. The property is breathtakingly beautiful, approached by a long driveway up to an impressive main building (the resort comprises of several buildings). The welcome was warm, with a tour of the relevant aspects of the property, and a lot of information that is hard to remember - at least it was for us (in our sixties). There is nothing written down … more on this later. The rooms are generously sized with a modern decor. We booked an executive room and were upgraded to a “junior suite”. The room had no seats, except for a singe armchair on an upper level, making it difficult to sit and talk together in the room. There is a massive amount of storage, and everything worked well (no problems with air con for us). We decided to have an aperitif in the bar before dining, but after 15 minutes they still had not brought the wine! I had to go and ask to be served! There was some issue with the wine we chose, but they should have told us right away. Later we asked for some printed information about the hotel and its facilities, and were told there is a QR code to scan in the room. After dinner we searched in vain for this QR code, went down to reception to ask for it, and were then given a print out in Italian! Later on they brought the menus and wine lists from the two restaurants to our room as well! It was all a little odd - why not just display the code on the screen in reception and let us scan it? Dinner was excellent. We dined in the more informal restaurant above the pool,and the food and service were ver good, especially the sommelier, who helped us choose an excellent wine to accompany the meal. This property is very beautiful, the pool area is excellent, the rooms are well equipped and the restaurant is excellent (we did not dine in the Michelin starred one). However, the service, and the approach to service did not quite match the setting. There was a general lack of presence - we had breakfast at 7am when the service starts, but had to find someone to come and serve us! This could/should be a 5 star visit, but even though the manager gave us a handwritten apology (and a jar of honey from their local apiary) as an apology for the poor service, I can still only give 4 stars."

"Ik kwam voor een golfvakantie en verbleef drie nachten inclusief ontbijt in dit fantastische hotel. Het inchecken en de receptie verliepen zeer vlot, zelfs op een laat tijdstip. De kamer was ruim en perfect uitgerust met een comfortabel kingsize bed en een grote tv. De badkamer was ook groot, met een bubbelbad en een douche. Er was een kluis en voldoende opbergruimte. De minibar was goed gevuld. Het enige minpuntje was de geluidsisolatie van de aangrenzende kamer vanwege de tussendeur. Het ontbijtbuffet bood een zeer uitgebreide continentale selectie. Zoete en hartige opties, lokale specialiteiten – alles was er, tot aan de echte, zelfgemaakte koffie toe. Het hotel heeft een prachtig zwembad, waar ik helaas geen gebruik van heb kunnen maken. Ik kan het van harte aanbevelen!"

"Hotel in een strategische locatie (bij het Italisch Forum en het Olympisch stadion, comfortabel om ook te bereiken het centrum van de stad op wandelen, voor wie zoals wij willen lopen). Kleine, maar comfortabele, schoon en goed onderhouden kamers. Ook de badkamer is zeer schoon en met alle comfort. Kleine ontbijtkamer, maar het aanbod van zoet en zout is meer dan bevredigend en met kwaliteit producten."

"Staff very polite and helpful. He showed us and give us a map of the top city attractions and the walk itinerary to do. The hotel is quite charming, an old palace with frescoes ceiling. But you must like historic homes with their merits but also defects. Very good price for the location, in the city center, with parking (extra charge) , and only 15 minutes pleasant walk to reach the main fountain plaza."

"Zeer goed gelegen. Vriendelijke en professionele ontvangst, hoewel ze ons een parkeerplaats aanboden voor € 13 contant, terwijl we in het weekend gratis hadden kunnen parkeren. Zeer grote kamer (nummer 50), ongeveer 50 m², gedateerde inrichting, grote en eveneens gedateerde badkamer met bad, goed beddengoed en brandschoon. Luidruchtige en ineffectieve airconditioning. Redelijk ontbijt. Prijs voor het laatste weekend van augustus: € 283. Duur voor wat er geboden werd."

"Right in the middle of old Perugia, great position. The room was clean and large - lots of it utilised by the large bathtub and sauna. Double sinks were nice, as was the rainwater shower and friendly welcome. We had the double room (#3) with a queen bed but wouldn’t classify it as a suite or apartment as advertised. The kitchen was a small refrigerator, coffee machine, and a double hob - with minimum cutlery and cooking pans. (No oven or microwave). The wash machine was shared with all apartments in a room down the hall - again not as advertised - but modern and efficient. We stayed three nights and our room was never cleaned, clean towels not offered and no replenishment of coffee and tea supplies (which were minimal to start with). It was also quite loud out our window with the restaurant across the lane way - the only night we got undisturbed sleep was when the restaurant was closed on Sunday. At around 140 Euros per night, we felt like our room wasn’t the best value, although we certainly enjoyed staying in the heart of Perugia village."

"Schoone plek en zeer nuttig personeel. Het ontbijt was uitstekend. We hadden graag langer kunnen blijven. Het is een beetje afstand van het centrum, maar we kunnen het zeer aanbevolen, vooral in de zomer. Schattige tuin en uitzicht op het terras."

"Van alle hotels in Umbrië voor een vakantie was het Grifone verreweg het beste. We hebben het erg naar ons zin gehad en het ontbijt was goed en uitgebreid. Het ligt wel wat ver van de roltrappen, maar over het algemeen was het een positieve ervaring."
