"Absolutely terrible. The mattress was utterly disgusting; I wouldn't have even known there was vomit on it if I hadn't been looking for something. The ground floor is a seafood restaurant, and the hallway upstairs reeked of cooking fumes. The staff actually tried to tell me it was guests cooking in their rooms – cooking until the early hours, I suppose? This entire area consists of self-built houses. While it's close to the beach, the smell of fish and cooking oil is very strong. If you like peace and quiet, steer clear. The beach quality isn't great either. From Haikou to Sanya, this is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in. Other places might be overpriced, but at least the quality is there. This is completely unacceptable. Just thinking about that mattress makes me sick. It usually costs around 200, but they hiked the price to 890, caring only about profit and not quality. If the environment and hygiene were even halfway decent, it might be forgivable, but this is what I got. The only positive thing was the staff; besides that, there's really nothing good to say."

"Ik kwam vanuit Haitang Bay met hoge verwachtingen, maar ik was een beetje teleurgesteld. In het vorige hotel had ik een praatje gemaakt met het personeel en ze vertelden me dat het buiten het hoogseizoen was. Omdat ik een Junlan Diamond-kaart heb, vroeg ik of ik een upgrade kon krijgen. Toen ik "upgrade" hoorde, schreeuwde de mannelijke receptionist, die een paar meter verderop andere gasten aan het inchecken was, tegen me, maar ik kon niet verstaan wat hij zei... Ik heb dit soort "vrijgevige" service, die je normaal alleen bij een straatstalletje ziet, al lang niet meer meegemaakt in een vijfsterrenhotel. De receptionist die me vervolgens begroette, zei dat hij de beschikbaarheid van kamers zou controleren en dat ik moest rusten, omdat er geen airconditioning in de lobby was. Vanaf het moment dat we de sleutel van onze kamer kregen, heeft het personeel nooit gezegd: "Sorry, de kamers waren vol en de upgrade is niet gelukt." Ze lieten ons doen alsof we een upgrade hadden gekregen om gezichtsverlies te voorkomen, en ik durfde pas toe te geven dat het geen upgrade was nadat ik de kamer was binnengegaan en had gebeld. Nadien was de enige compensatie een "Fruit and Flower Afternoon Tea", een afternoon tea-item dat niet beschikbaar was op het officiële WeChat-account van het hotel of andere platforms. Het bestond uit slechts twee lattes, 20 noten en twee koekjes, waarschijnlijk minder dan 15 yuan. Ik vraag me af of het een speciaal samengestelde set was als compensatie. Ter vergelijking: in het hotel in Haitang Bay, toen we simpelweg aangaven dat onze Sprite wat slap was, legde de manager specifiek uit dat het ijs gesmolten was en bracht een set met verschillende drankjes voor ons, waar we onbeperkt van konden genieten, voor slechts 60% van de prijs van het Junlan Hotel… Het volgende staat los van de kamerupgrade. Wat de service betreft, werd ons bij het inchecken verteld dat de minibar dagelijks zou worden bijgevuld, maar de volgende dag vonden we onze eigen drankjes in de koelkast, en de schoonmaakdienst had deze niet bijgevuld. We moesten hen vragen om het terug te zetten. We belden de conciërge vanaf de parkeerplaats om ons op te halen, en terwijl we op onze kamer wachtten, vertelden we de medewerker die ons incheckte dat we uit de parkeergarage kwamen en dat onze bagage in de shuttlebus zat. Ze vermeldden echter niet dat we ons kenteken moesten registreren, aangezien we met de auto kwamen. De meeste budgethotels vragen tegenwoordig proactief of we een parkeerplaats hebben en een parkeerkaart nodig hebben. Toen we teruggingen naar de receptie om ons te registreren, bood geen enkele medewerker zijn excuses aan; ze bleven maar benadrukken dat parkeerregistratie verplicht was in hun hotel. De service van Junlan Hotel was nogal onattent… We wachtten ongeveer 30 minuten op het inchecken, en er waren nog steeds een paar problemen met de kamer: ten eerste was de weegschaal leeg; ten t****e kwam er vaak geen water uit een van de sproeiers in het ligbad; ten derde gaf de wastafelkraan alleen warm water op de hoogste stand; de föhn was een goedkoop Xiaomi-model van iets meer dan 100 yuan – zelfs budgethotels van 200 yuan gebruiken dit model niet meer; Het licht in de douche scheen naar boven, wat nogal fel en soms zelfs verblindend was tijdens het wassen van je haar. Het gebak bij het ontbijt viel erg tegen. Het duriangebakje was kruimelig en smaakte naar kunstmatige duriansmaak, en de vrouwentaart bestond alleen uit een korst met een klein beetje vulling – er was duidelijk sprake van extreme kostenbesparing. Er was eigenlijk maar één soort warm vleesgerecht. De zure rijstnoedels waren wel een leuke toevoeging. Het hotel had slechts één open overloopzwembad, en daaronder lagen nog twee andere zwembaden met helder water, maar die zaten vol met drijvende planten. De service van het hotel kan aanzienlijk verbeterd worden en de faciliteiten zijn ook aan een opknapbeurt toe. Het hotel is heel anders dan hotels in dezelfde prijsklasse. Hopelijk verbetert de situatie in de toekomst. Met vriendelijke groet."

We went to Fenjiezhou Island once for a swim in the sea but didn't try any other activities. The guesthouse staff were very friendly and provided excellent service, much appreciated! "This is a very nice hotel. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bedding and pillows just right. There was also a great balcony., I would have liked a relaxing chair on there, but the furniture was okay. The service is excellent, the people are very friendly and extremely helpful. The pool is nice and clean, the yard is very pretty. The gym is a bit outdated and could do with a makeover and a location other than the dark cellar. Nearby is a pretty beach, a lovely park and an entertaining mall. If you take one of the siden street, you’ll find local shops. There is a bit of noise coming from the streets at night, but if you close the doors, it’s not too much of a bother and stops around 12:00 PM. Airconditioning is working really well. Had a great time, will visit again!"

"The room wasn't as big as I expected; in fact, the rooms on the first floor seemed larger. The hotel service was excellent; any issues were resolved immediately. Every night, there's a complimentary sweet soup. I didn't try it, but the butler always informed guests it was available on a first-come, first-served basis. Right outside the hotel is a street full of bars, including 216 Restaurant & Bar and Malt, all just a short walk away. It's a great way to spend time, just chilling there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby. At night, the bars are incredibly lively and bustling – definitely a young crowd!"
