"Lovely hotel located at the other end of the Esplanade. The broad walk at the back of the hotel was nice to stroll along and an easy way to get to the city center. Kudos to the reception staff, Riccardo for leaving a really good first impression when I first arrived. He was so clear in explaining everything I needed to know before I checked in, and subsequent days when I saw him he was also really helpful with whatever requests I had. The room was big and spacious, very comfy beds!! The housekeeping staff were also friendly whenever I saw them as I head out for the day. Food from the room service was tasty. However, the breakfast buffet options were almost the same everyday though, wish there could have been more variety. But overall, I still had a rather pleasant stay here(:"

"This is a hotel that up to standard - it may not be the best in the world but I believe it is one of the best in Cairns. The location is a bit far - it take a good 15 mins walk to likely everywhere in Cairns city center. However it is one of the newest hotel in the town and could give you a good and fair service. The buildings in the hote and the pool is beautiful. When you walk around the town you will find all big brands hotel in the world but they all looks like historical buildings."

"My first room in building C was awful with the view of the opposite hotel. I could literally watch what other people did in their room and they could watch me as well. Also the room condition was so bad with crawling insects so I needed to upgrade the room. The upgraded room was fine with a poolside view and less bugs crawling on the wooden table. I understand there could be little creatures but just too many in the first room. Other than that, their food was delicious and staffs were kind and friendly. My kid loved playing in the pool."

"De kamer is zeer ruim en comfortabel, en het vervoer is handig. Het is 6 minuten lopen naar de avondmarkt en 12 minuten lopen naar het winkelcentrum. Voorzieningen: Het doucheglas in de badkamer is te smal. Elke keer als ik douche, stroomt er water in de ruimte en spat het water overal rond. Het douchescheidingsglas in het hotel in Brisbane is ook erg smal. Dit is een ontwerpprobleem. Het gaat alleen om de schoonheid, zonder rekening te houden met het daadwerkelijke gebruik. Service: De receptie is erg geduldig. Wij zijn niet goed in taal. De receptie is erg geduldig en herhaalt de uitleg steeds opnieuw, wat erg prettig is."

"Can I put 6 stars? :) This place is definitely one of the best hostels ever. Where do I start from? Reception: everyone is always super kind and helpful, including offering help with luggage and everything else. The hostel looks very new and modern, so beautiful! Room: it's great! Big enough, with hangers, curtains on each bed (amazing!), plugs and light for every bed and also some extra plugs around the room. Bed was very comfortable and I felt great there! Bathroom: always clean, soap in every sink and in every shower, big and nice! Kitchen: incredibly well equipped and open 24 hours. There are 2 doors separating it from the rooms so it's never noisy even if people are there in the night. They provide big boxes that fit in the (many) fridges so that it's all tidy and clean. Goodbye the hundreds of Woolworths bags and messy fridges with no space for other people's food! Even the cups, the dishes were perfectly clean, like everything else. I was seriously impressed, they did the cleaning multiple times a day. Free salt, oil, tea and coffee always available. Common areas: really beautiful, full of books, games, with a huge TV and many tables and beanbags. Events: they actually organize social events and the staff helps the ”new” people to socialize. That's so important! Many long termers don't really mind about meeting new people but if the staff does his part then it gets a lot easier. And here, they do. On my first night they had a free cheese and wine event and we got a lot of tasty food and wine. Location: perfect, just above Woolworths and a few minutes walking from everything. The Little Drifter feels more like an hotel than a hostel and I really don't know how people can rate it low. As great as it is I would still like to suggest some possible improvement. Maybe at the Reception you can print a map with a few info about the hostel on the back. I didn't understand where the boxes for the kitchen were, I didn't find the labels. Also it took me 3 days to find out that I had another toilet a lot closer to my room, so for 3 days I was crossing a very long hallway in the middle of the night when I had to go. I also didn't like the fact that I had to open the doors through the app and I discovered later that there is a code to open it as well (I try to leave my phone in my room as much as possible). This hostel is a little more expensive than other places but it's totally worth it! If I'll be back in Cairns I won't hesitate to come here. Thanks!"

"I’ve stayed in other backpackers before, and I’m really surprised by how clean and organized this place is. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely impressive. I stayed for 4 days, and for 3 of them everything was very clean. The kitchen has everything you need — I even used the mini oven to make homemade pizza. There’s also a pool, laundry, and tables and chairs outside where you can study or relax during summer. The 6-bed female room had its own fridge and a locker for each person. The room was very clean, and they provided a towel and a blanket. I was lucky to share the room with very tidy girls during my first three days, so it stayed just as clean as when we arrived. The staff were also really nice and calm. Overall, considering the price and that it’s a backpacker hostel, it’s excellent — 10/10!"
