Hostels in Guangdong, China

"Quite impressed with the stay this time. I’ve been travelling around China and stayed in a couple hostels, I feel that the amenities here are great, especially the design of the shower area, there’s a double door ‘system’ to prevent your dry clothes from getting wet, this is lacking in most of the hostels I’ve been. Regarding the rooms, light switchs and locks are all designed in silent mode to prevent disturbing the rest of people in the room. Mattress is soft, my back feels comfy lying on it! Slept soundly at night I love it! The general open space area is quite cozy, able to chill and or make friends with others. Coffee from the bar counter taste rich and aromatic. Area of improvement: Cleanliness is great in general, far better than most places, but could still be improved, example 2nd floor toilet can be cleaned in a more timely manner to avoid pungent smell."

"Als je het hotel beoordeelt op basis van de prijs voor het bed, is het een prima hotel. Maar ik heb nog steeds mijn bedenkingen over de hele accommodatie-ervaring. Allereerst was de locatie niet gemakkelijk te vinden. De volgorde van de huisnummers op Zhenxing Road was plotseling verstoord, waardoor ik nummer 113 niet kon vinden. Toen ik mensen ernaar vroeg, wezen ze naar de overkant van de straat. Ik liep een half uur heen en weer op straat, in de koude wind en motregen. Ik heb de bibliotheek gebeld, maar de informatie die ze gaven was niet erg nuttig voor iemand die toch al verdwaald was. Uiteindelijk heb ik het zelf gevonden. Later besefte ik dat ik de hele tijd in dezelfde straat had gelopen, maar dat ik wel door moest lopen tot het einde van de straat. Bij aankomst was ik zeer tevreden over het incheckproces en de accommodatie. Er waren ontsmette slippers, een kluisje voor iedereen, etc. en het openbare toilet was geurloos, wat een aangename verrassing was. Maar zodra we de ruimtecapsule binnengingen en de deur dichtdeden, begon de lucht naar rook te ruiken. Zou het kunnen dat de vreemde geur via de uitlaat naar binnen komt? ? Midden in de nacht werd ik wakker van de stank en moest ik de deur van de hut openen (zonder deze op slot te doen) om de buitenlucht binnen te laten. De vreemde geur werd langzaam geneutraliseerd voordat ik in slaap kon vallen. De volgende dag werd ik wakker met een niet zo lekker gevoel. Ik nam een ​​douche, waste mijn haar en ging meteen weg. Ik heb de gratis föhn gebruikt, maar deze was kapot. Ik vroeg het aan het personeel en kreeg een antwoord dat alleen zij begreep en de gast niet: ”Er is een haardroger in de gang!” Na herhaaldelijk navragen kwam ik erachter dat ze het had over de extra föhn die verstopt zat bij de achterdeur, met een bordje waarop stond: ”Niet zomaar openen”. De gast zou nooit zelf de deur openduwen. Zo'n antwoord was volkomen onprofessioneel. Later kwam er een vriendelijkere medewerker langs om instructies te geven en zo werd de communicatieverwarring opgelost. Deze eerste verblijfservaring was dus niet zo goed."

"Pros: The front desk staff guided me through check-in. There's a dedicated room for luggage. Toilet paper, shower gel, shampoo, laundry detergent, and slippers are all provided for free. There's a microwave and a refrigerator available. The common area is spacious, perfect for reheating leftover takeout when you're hungry. You just need to swipe your room card for entry and exit, no need to remember passwords. Although the drying area is indoors, it's equipped with a dehumidifier and small fans, so clothes don't get musty. The restrooms are odor-free, and an auntie cleans them daily. Cons: Aside from the top bunk in the eight-person dorm, which has stairs, all other rooms require climbing a ladder. You also need to put on disposable bedding yourself, which felt like it was of average quality and easily torn. That's all I can think of for now; I'll add more if anything else comes to mind later."

"Convenient location & friendly, helpful staff. Lots of bus connections and lots of eateries around. They have a lovely 5th floor lounge area with a coffee machine with real beans! (I didn't have the time to use it though cos was in a bit of a hurry.) Sorry forgot to take pics of the hostel but did of the food around the area."

"Gelegen in het hart van het zakendistrict van Futian, op een steenworp afstand van Hongkong, biedt het hostel een comfortabel verblijf en redelijke kamerprijzen. De eigenaren voeren voortdurend upgrades uit. Er is een keuken waar je je eigen maaltijden kunt koken en een ruime gemeenschappelijke ruimte met een tv waar je je laptop op kunt aansluiten om films of een voetbalwedstrijd te kijken. De omliggende voorzieningen bieden vrijwel alles wat je maar kunt wensen of nodig hebt. Shenzhen is een dure stad, dus gezien de locatie en de kamerprijzen geef ik over de hele linie 5 sterren."

"The hostel is close to the metro station. The welcome package was thoughtful. The bed was clean, spacious and comfortable. The common area was good, although some people seemed to claim their spot and were there all the time. There were plenty of cleaning staff. There was a dedicated makeup area which I was thankful for. I've stayed in many hostels recently, in which getting into the bathroom to take a shower has been near impossible due to people taking hours to do their make up in there! Someone used this area to conduct a series of TEFL lessons online. They were so loud. I could hear every word from my bed in the dorm. The soundproofing wasn't that great. The showers had a wet dry divide with a curtain separating the dry area from the shower. These didn't fully close. Unfortunately, the cleaning staff would fully open the curtain into the shower room which took away a sense of privacy from the corridor. What was the point of the curtains in the first place if they are just being kept open? The beds in the dorm had no hooks, so everything had to be sat on shelves. You are provided with a big, fluffy bath towel to use during the stay. However, there is no-where to put it after using it. There is a drying area for clothes on the balcony which was packed with clothes. I didn't see anyone hang their towel out there. Most people had it laying on their bed which is not hygienic. There are a lot of stairs to carry heavy luggage up! All in all, I enjoyed my stay. However, it was lacking some practical aspects that would have otherwise made it perfect."

"De locatie was goed, maar vrij moeilijk te vinden (het hotel bevindt zich in het gebouw tegenover de McDonald's op de 31e verdieping). Er zijn geen internationale reizigers, dus je bent op jezelf aangewezen. De kamers zijn niet echt schoon, maar prima voor een kort verblijf."

"Dit is de t****e keer dat ik in Mu'an House verblijf. Toen ik er voor het eerst was, liet ik een berichtje achter op het prikbord op de trap. Toen ik er voor de t****e keer was, leek mijn wens al uit te komen. Ik vind de sfeer en de omgeving hier echt geweldig. Hoewel iedereen van over de hele wereld komt, vind ik het echt fijn als we rustig samen in de lobby zitten. Ik heb ook veel leuke meiden ontmoet, die gezellig kletsen en elkaar helpen. Toen het meisje op het onderste bed vertrok toen ik hier voor het eerst woonde, was ik lange tijd stilletjes verdrietig. De kamer en de douche in de lobby zijn gescheiden. Het is er erg stil en comfortabel om in te rusten; het water in de douche is erg groot en het is erg comfortabel om te douchen; het toilet, de lobby en de kamer worden elke dag schoongemaakt door tantes, en de dame bij de receptie is ook erg enthousiast. De volgende keer dat ik naar Changgang kom, kies ik ervoor om hier te verblijven."

"Over het algemeen is het een prima kamer, gelegen in het district Nanshan, de prijs is heel redelijk, er zijn twee toiletten en vier grote kamers, één voor vier personen, één voor zes personen en twee voor acht personen. Ze zijn voorzien van wegwerp-tandpasta en tandenborstels, maar er zijn geen handdoeken. Je moet je eigen handdoeken meenemen. Ik heb de wasmachine niet gebruikt, die voelde een beetje vies aan. Ik raad je aan om hem gewoon met de hand schoon te wrijven. In de kamer voor vier personen waar ik verbleef, vielen mijn kamergenoten om 0:30 uur 's nachts in slaap en hebben ze heerlijk geslapen. Er zijn ook veel huurders die er al langere tijd verblijven, het ziet er een beetje rommelig uit, maar over het algemeen ben ik in vergelijking met anderen heel tevreden (ik heb er eerder een gezien, met meer dan 30 mensen, en die was ook heel goed, maar helaas was er maar één toilet). Het uitzicht is ook heel mooi! Het ligt ook heel dichtbij Window of the World en Happy Valley. U kunt hier verblijven en deze plaatsen bezoeken."

"I stayed here for 2 nights, before heading to Chaozhou. Should I visit Shantou again, I will book here again. I'm very impressed by the hospitality, cleanliness, thoughtfulness, and panoramic view it offers. The location is a stone's throw from the ”influencer street” with cool, quaint cafes, interesting speciality restaurants and shops. It's not far from Longyan South Road, the famous food street. I was able to join other travellers to eat at some highly recommended restaurants, which would otherwise be challenging foe a solo travellers. The lady boss treated everyone like family and I feel the cozy and relax vibe. I would have wanted to extend if not because I already made reservations in Chaozhou. I feel that Shantou people loves their food and certainly takes pride of it. I feel that perhaps you can walk into any eatery and not be disappointed. Shantou is one of my favourite cities in this trip, Shantou being my 2nd of 6 stops. I highly recommend n23.5 degree youth hostel and Shantou to anyone."
