5-Starhotels in Bagmati, Nepal

This is the second time I stayed at Ramada Encore in Thamel. I was not wrong to choose it again. Absolutely everything is good here ... the staff, the room,the breakfast (oh my, sooooo good), the location, the friendliness of every single employee, from the door in. A special recognition to Nikhil in the reception, whose service and support with a sincere smile is as comforting as the sunshine on an early autumn morning. And to the staff and therapists on the spa where I took a couple of massages that were superb. Kathmandu is a beautiful, yet hectic city. Thamel even more, so to have this oasis to come to after a long day wandering around or trekking is something to treasure. In my case, this is even more meaningful as I left all my stuff to go hiking on the Himalayas for several days, coming back to the hotel with the certainty that I was going to be happily and truly welcome. Again, I was not wrong. Thank you for making a difference and for understanding what the word service means. I will certainly choose you again and again every time I come back to this unique Kathmandu I learned to love. Namaste, 🙏🏼.

The hotel is well situated in a quiet area, but within proximity to shops and restaurants, though a bit of a walk to Thamel. The hotels amenities are good and the M club lounge is a nice to have if u book the lounge access. The one negative thing is that the hotel overcharges on airport transportation (USD 35) and picks you up in a old Honda.

We just spent five amazing nights at Moxy Kathmandu, and honestly, it was such a great stay. The hotel has this cool, stylish vibe, and everything felt super clean — the rooms were really comfy too. But what really made our trip was the service. The front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were all so welcoming and polite, and their genuine, proactive attitude just warmed our hearts. Special shout-out to Kritan from the restaurant — not only does he speak fluent Chinese and English, but his attentive service and friendly smile were definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Can’t recommend this place enough — easily a 10 out of 10.

I recently stayed at Basera Boutique Hotel, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience! This charming new hotel really captures the essence of Nepal with its lovely vibe. It’s super clean and conveniently located near all the main attractions. One of the highlights for me was the pool—it was pristine and perfect for a refreshing dip. And don’t even get me started on the breakfast! There were so many delicious options to choose from, plus their coffee and beer on tap were a nice touch. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They helped us book taxis and even arranged airport pickups and drop-offs for our flights from Kathmandu. They also offered great recommendations for tours and places to explore. Our room had an amazing view of the mountains, which was just the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to return to Basera Boutique Hotel on my next trip!

Vanaf het moment dat ik aankwam, voelde het personeel me echt welkom, de check-in was soepel en efficiënt, en ik werd gegroet met warme glimlachen en verfrissende dranken. Mijn kamer was spotloos, mooi ingericht en bood een prachtig uitzicht elke detail was gedachtenvriendelijk geregeld voor comfort en ontspanning. Het ontbijtbuffet was uitstekend, met een brede selectie van verse, smaakvolle opties om elke smaak te passen. Het huishoudelijk team hield alles perfect bij gedurende mijn verblijf. Ik waardeer ook de rustige sfeer en de uitstekende WiFi-verbinding, waardoor het ideaal is voor zowel vrije tijd als werk. Wat dit hotel echt afscheidt is het niveau van gastvrijheid. Elk teamlid ging boven en verder om ervoor te zorgen dat ik een aangename verblijf had van het aanbevelen van lokale attracties om te helpen met het vervoer. In het algemeen combineert dit hotel luxe, comfort en echte zorg op de beste manier mogelijk. Ik zou het zeer aan iedereen die het gebied bezocht, en kan niet wachten om snel weer terug te komen!

Location is superb, right in the middle of Kathmandu, walking distance to Thamel. Other interesting landmarks are easy to reach with the helpful taxi drivers (always present outside the gates). Hotel staff are very kind, sincerely engage in conversation and helpful in providing tourist information. Rooms are cost and warm decorated. Hotel has a beautiful garden suitable for a relaxing stroll. Swimming pool is nice and very clean! I highly recommend this hotel above other hotels in Kathmandu. We really enjoyed our stay here. The service is top-notch. Rooms are very clean and they provide all the necessary amenities. We loved the view from our room and on a clear day, you can see the Himalayas. Breakfast buffet was lovely and the staff are so attentive and quick. Dinner at the restaurant was on the pricier side. We ordered a cheese pizza that tasted very bland and had to send it back. The chef added more cheese on top and reheated the pizza which made it worse. However, the waiter was very nice enough to send the pizza back again and removed it from our bill. Apart from that, we would definitely recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return.

The staff allowed us to check in early after a long overnight train.  Thank you. The hotel is comfortable and perfectly located.  We could walk to the Potala and Jokhang Temple. Dozens of restaurants and cafes were also within walking distance. There was oxygen in the rooms and breakfast staff were very welcoming.  Would stay there again.

Nice Old Hotel, Great Staff with few needs to improve. Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all. The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great. 2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges. Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience. Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days. Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern. Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager. A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.

We knew the service would be good as soon as we booked, and within hours we received a welcome email, listing the ways we could contact them if we needed to. On the pick up at the airport, they were speedy and efficient and the taxi ride only took us 20 minutes with traffic. As we walked through the door we were blown away by the interior decoration, only then to find that hotel had been a former palace! Historic artifacts and pictures were strewn through the hallways and the outside only matched the royal feel with perfection. We stayed in the royal suite, with a big bed and balcony. The staff were great, the breakfast was standard for off peak times and although the location isn't in the depth of Thamel, the area most will go out for eating and drinking, it was within 30 minutes drive of most landmarks and as it was the ambassedy/ office worker area, there was a nice vibe. There were some things that can't be controlled. The hotel did a good job of providing heat as the weather in February is still chilly. The pollution was real. Especially as you walk nearer the streets, something to think about if you are sensitive to this. Apart from that, It was all really wonderful.
