It was very beautiful and the room was large and very comfortable. There is no pass shower in the room, but there is a large communal bath and I was able to enjoy the feeling of a hot spring. The staff was kind and polite. I would like to stay with breakfast next time.

Although the hotel's decor is dated, the facilities are well-maintained and have everything a traditional onsen ryokan (hot spring inn) should have, and the equipment isn't outdated. The onsen has both indoor and outdoor sections, but in winter the outdoor temperature isn't high enough, so only the indoor onsen is available. The onsen has white floating debris and smells of sulfur, just like the Kaniba Onsen (crab farm) 😂. The hotel is family-run, but the owners haven't neglected service despite its age; on the contrary, you can feel their efforts to provide guests with the best and most up-to-date amenities in many details. I've been to many onsen ryokans in Japan, and while the facilities aren't as modern as some, they're comparable to established ones. Most importantly, I felt a strong sense of hospitality, which was very touching. I would definitely come back if I have the chance.

We drove to the hotel and appreciated the big free parking available. We also noted the proximity of the train station, so location wise, it is convenient yet gives the sense of seclusion which is perfect for relaxation. Check in was a breeze, the English proficiency of the receptionist with the printed information in English good enough. the Onsen was large and the outdoor part was a joy! i particularly enjoyed my time there soaking in the hot water, listening to the sound of the flowing river and watching the fauna. food spread, quality and quantity at both dinner and breakfast was excellent. i noted that the staffs were diligently topping up items that were running out even to later in the meal times, unlike some places where they may just not do so. We booked a room with open air bath and it was worth the money for it! would totally do that again when i return and highly recommended. must compliment the lounge with their welcome drinks and rice crackers which you can help yourself to. although its just rice crackers, it a nice touch, perhaps adding some nuts is my only suggestion. would highly recommend this place to stay if around, in fact we deliberately chose to stay here to break our journey from Hirosaki to Morioka, so glad we did!

I stayed one night at Kame-no-i Hotel Tazawako in May 2026, traveling by car and looking forward to the hot springs. We booked three single Japanese-style rooms this time, and overall, it was a very satisfying stay. The cost performance is excellent, and it's a hotel I'd definitely want to visit again. I'd rate it 4.5 stars. 🚗 Location & Parking: Convenient for those traveling by car I drove there, and the access was straightforward, with a spacious and easy-to-use parking lot. I think it's a convenient location for anyone exploring the Lake Tazawa area by car. 🛏️ Room: Spacious and Clean Although it was a single room, it was larger than I expected and even had a sofa. Despite its compact size, it had all the necessary amenities and was practical. Since it was a room where you take off your shoes upon entering, it felt very clean and comfortable. On the other hand, the heating felt a bit too strong and was hard to adjust; turning on the AC made it too cold. The futon was also a bit thin, and it would have been even better if it were warmer. Also, the view from the window was mostly a wall, so there wasn't much of a scenic outlook. It used an old-fashioned key, which was a bit finicky, making me slightly concerned about security. ♨️ Hot Springs: Both Indoor and Outdoor Baths were Comfortable The hot springs were very enjoyable overall. The water quality was relatively mild, without the strong slimy feel of sulfur springs, but both the indoor and outdoor baths were comfortable. It wasn't too crowded, which allowed for a relaxing soak, which was a plus. However, the outdoor bath felt a little too exposed, and considering the surrounding environment, I was slightly worried about bears, which was a minor safety concern. 🧴 Facilities: Basically Satisfied Towels and amenities were well-stocked, and I didn't experience any inconvenience. The Wi-Fi was fast and easy to use. However, my room was in the East Wing, and I had to carry my suitcase up to the second floor, which could be challenging if you have a lot of luggage. 🙋 Service: Friendly and English-Speaking Staff were Reassuring The front desk staff were very friendly, had a good sense of humor, and welcomed us warmly. They were also fluent in English, and their explanations were easy to understand. Check-in and check-out were smooth, making our stay worry-free. 🍽️ Dining: Two Meals + Late-Night Snack, Highly Satisfied With two meals included and a complimentary late-night tantanmen (spicy noodle soup), the dining experience was incredibly satisfying. There was a wide variety of dishes, the food tasted great, and we enjoyed unique menu items made with local ingredients. Overall, despite a few minor concerns, considering the room size, cleanliness, hot springs, meals, and staff service, I believe this hotel offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling by car or looking for a hot spring getaway around Lake Tazawa. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

The must-visit cherry blossom and maple viewing place in Akita must be [Kakunodate]. It is also the hometown of samurai with a long history in Japan and is known as ”Olu's Little Kyoto”. But accommodation here is very expensive, especially during the cherry blossom and maple leaf seasons. It is even harder to find a room. During the maple leaf season, I booked a low-cost accommodation four months in advance (Kakunodate B&B Fengya) for ¥996/2 nights including breakfast. So this is one of the few B&Bs. The Japanese female boss speaks English very well and is very enthusiastic. She personally prepares breakfast with local ingredients. She also serves lunch and afternoon tea, and also sells handmade food. The B&B has free bicycle rentals, so you can easily visit all the samurai houses in Kakunokan. Most of the Japanese locals and foreigners who stay here, as well as *********, can speak English. Old people like us from the mainland who cannot speak Japanese or English are purely isolated cases. The landlady was afraid that we might have some problems, so she specially invited Mr. Ren, a retired (Chinese) teacher from Kakunodate University to come and ask us if we had any problems! The boss lady learned that we had to book a taxi to take us to Kakunodate JR Station at 6:30 tomorrow, but the taxi service at Kakunodate starts at 8 o'clock. The boss lady personally took us to the train station despite her busy schedule. I was really touched! However, the B&B does not have a pick-up station service. When we arrived, we took a taxi to the B&B for 800 yen.

The location is excellent, next to train station and in front of the bus bay for the airport limousine. The rooms are good size and I highly recommend it for anyone who will traveling in our or of Akita by train or airport transfer early in the Morning because it really is so nearby. And if Akita is your last city for your flight, the space in the room is so good for repacking. Bed is comfortable (firm, I had good sleep), they provide 2 pillows. The amenities are pretty standard. They have a shower and bath tub which is great for a soak after a day out. Highly recommended this hotel. I stayed in another hotel in Akita for the start of my trip and I highly recommend The Metropolitan.

This hotel is right next to a underground rock concert shop. It has frequent tenants who played there or attend the concerts there. If you are driving , you won’t be able to get their parking slots as it mostly reserved for the regulars. The nearby parking lots charges 400 Y from 4pm-8am so if you arrive shortly after check in time and decide to head out early the next day, you may use the 2 carparks that is right beside the hotel. If you can’t make it in time, the hotel cheapest parking option is behind Lawson where they have monthly season parking lots. It’s 600 yen per night from 3pm to 10am. room wise, price to value is below average probably becos of high demand in the vicinity. As for cleanliness, can be better improve. My aircon filter and air filter machine was producing really moldy and smell air , probably from previous guests who sweated in the room. Was a big turn off lucky I came during autumn, can just open the window to get cold air in.

First of all, I booked this hot spring hotel on Saturday and it cost me 33,600 yuan. I thought I could live in a big room, but everything became a mess after two sleeping mats were laid out at dinner time. We couldn't open our luggage because there was no place, and we had to jump to go to the bathroom because there was no way to go. I was really angry. I booked this hotel because it is a LA VISTA group, but the food, both the ingredients and the taste are worth the price. There are also many snacks, water, Yakult, and fresh milk in the lounge after the hot spring, but there is no juice. This is what I find strange. In addition, we often pass by the counter, and the waiters treat you as air. Anyway, the way of this hotel is to come and go. Just now we checked out and put on our shoes, and they turned around when we said byebye, and didn't even come to the door. Am I really expecting too much?

The staff in this hotel were so helpful, i had lost some items and the staff went out of their way to assist me in retriving them back. Really appreciate their help for this. The room was big and clean as well, location was very convenient, less than a 5 min walk away from Akita station for the shinkansen.

We stayed for three nights, including breakfast and dinner, and it definitely lived up to the hype for its food and scenery. While the hotel facilities are pretty standard, the environment is absolutely exceptional. It's only tens of meters from Lake Towada, surrounded by lush green spaces, big trees, and the lake itself – the beauty from this distance is captivating. Both meals and the shuttle bus need to be booked in advance. The schedule was: 7:30 AM breakfast, 9:30 AM departure, 4:00 PM return, 5:00 PM dinner, 6:30 PM evening walk, 8:30 PM hot springs, and 10:30 PM deep sleep. Day one poured rain, day two was spent in Yasumiya, taking a boat cruise, and visiting Towada Shrine. Day three was a 10km hike along the Oirase Stream followed by a final goodbye to Yasumiya. Day four was departure. A perfect experience overall! If I had to point out one minor drawback, it would be that the hotel service felt a bit cold. I understood not having our room cleaned on the first day, but not having it cleaned at all for three days felt a little odd. Also, for a stay that included breakfast and dinner, drinks at dinner on the third night were charged separately. It wasn't expensive, but no explanation was given. No 'do not disturb' sign was hung on the door, yet no cleaning. Drinks were offered with dinner on the first two nights, but not on the third. The hotel's onsen only has one large outdoor pool, and it's quite hot – it felt like half water, half fire, which was very enjoyable.
