The hotel is very big with the very reasonable price. However, the hotel don’t have ONsen and the staff could not communicate in English. The were trying to help but it took time. The city is very big. We like Masa21 mall nearby the hotel where you can go for dinner and shopping.

Pros:
- Shuttle bus waiting right in front of the train station
- Shuttle bus drop-off every hour in the morning till noon
- the room we booked is really spacious with a western-style room and a Japanese-style room and a private bathroom
- the view at our room balcony is a big bonus
- There are 3 onsens in the hotel which all are good
- Nice buffet breakfast with variety of Japanese food
Cons:
- only one drawback during my stay is other groups of guests whom spoke loudly while using the onsens

Check in very convenient when we arrived about 8pm, the staff are very friendly, helpful and speaking English. Takayama Bus Center and JR Takayama station only 5 minutes walk. Check some day tour that available from Takayama Bus Center which is very easy to join. Many restaurants nearby and souvenir shops at the main street. Big room and more than enough space to put our 2 big luggage. A bit unstable hot water from the shower but overall is no complaint and we have a pleasant stay at this hotel.

the place is famous, for thailand theater shows,
foods in many varieties but cant say good. when we check in we are greet by a front desk clerk,with no smile, and tired face.and since i was a foreigner but good in japanese, communication did not go so well though he is not nice explaning everything. but the foreigners workin there is so nice. the ofuro is good but can say not what we expect. in the morning we check out staff were all good and smiling.

Vrouw en ik reizen vanuit de VS. We vonden deze plek ideaal voor een wandeling vóór en na de Nakasendo-route (hoewel de route zelf niet zo bijzonder was). Het personeel was vriendelijk en sprak goed genoeg Engels. De onsen ter plaatse (afzonderlijke geslachten) was schoon en perfect voor na een zware dag wandelen.
Het ontbijt was leuk en een beetje een hindernis als je geen ontbijt in Japanse stijl hebt gehad.
Het hoteldecor leek rechtstreeks uit de jaren zestig te komen, maar het vond het charmant.
Eén suggestie voor het hotel: vermeld de tijden van de gratis pendeldiensten vanaf het treinstation prominenter op uw website.

Remote location but near to shinhotake ropeway.
Very quaint hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room.
We did not have dinner in hotel and have to step out when they make the bed for the evening. We were told we can stay in the room but felt that we got in the way. They were very efficient and it was done in under 15mins. The hotel was small and there were 2 different wings. It’s a bit troublesome to take 2 diff lifts to go to dining area/bath. Front desk was earnest but non english speaking.
The outdoor baths were really nice. You have to take a small single cabin inclined elevator that you operate on your own to get there. Otherwise a short climb/ stairs.
Breakfast was splendid and one of the best we had experienced during our trip. Ingredients were fresh and the portions were just nice.

The staff were so friendly and polite and helpful!!! They had a booklet with English for us, and as it was our first onsen experience, they patiently explained everything we needed to know and answered our questions. The outdoor onsen was beautiful and so peaceful. Food was also delicious and our one night stay was very enjoyable and the amount we paid is definitely worth it. Highly recommend :)

Excellent hotel with wonderful facilities. Lobby and lounge area was huge and comfortable. Several restaurants in the hotel. We had the breakfast buffet which was very good, used the pool, sauna and baths. Lots of amenities supplied and if it hadn't rained we would have used more of the hotel facilities. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Amazing
Stayed at Suimekan Gero Onsen and had a wonderful experience. The staff, especially Adajisan, was incredibly kind, helpful, and gave great recommendations. The hotel offers 3 different onsen baths, very relaxing and well maintained. There is also a game area, making the stay fun and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gero Onsen!

Amazing
One of the best I have experienced with ryokan staying. I love a small hotel/inn as it is not crowded. This place answers my expectations. Its location is a bit far off but it is not an issue. It is accessible by public bus from Takayama. Each room has private onsen. It also has 2 outdoor, private onsen on first-come-first-serve basis. There are also public baths for male and female. Room was in good condition. Bathroom is a bit small for me. Only complaint I would have was foot step noise from the room on upper floor. Very annoyed. Food was great. I stayed 2 nights, the hotel provided 2 different types of food - appreciated. Highway recommended.

JJennaBeautiful hotel with wonderful service. The onsens were well cared for and we had them to ourselves. The views of the mountains and river from the onsen were spectacular. The food was great and transitional to Japan. We loved our the stay in the traditional Ryokan. Probably our best stay of the trip.

Very nice hotel with old charms, amazing experience with the cable car elevator. Bar and buffet both offers nice meals. Public bath is spacious. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserExcellent location with lots of good restaurants around. Booked the Japanese & Western style room with private bath. Having a living room with tatami matts & sitting furniture was a nice touch. The bath is excellent with proper dressing room. Will definitely recommend this hotel and looking forward to my next visit!
