"We stayed in October 2025. We liked the guesthouse for its bright, clean entrance area and the friendly staff. The manager is always on hand and courteous. The establishment has seven rooms, all cozy, quiet, and family-like. Each room has a table and chairs. There's a kitchenette with a microwave, stovetop, and 24-hour tea and coffee. The owner comes to the guesthouse several times a day to inquire about the guests' moods and needs. The beach towels are good. Upon arrival on the island, we were met at the port by an electric car and escorted back."

"Due to renovations taking place near the hotel, the owner suggested we stay at the nearby hotel, which belongs to his brother. The hotel is called Lagoon Villa. It's a wonderful hotel, with all the amenities in the room, always clean linens and towels. Beach towels are also provided. Breakfast is rather meager and monotonous, with no choice. Everything else is excellent!"

"Het was een interessante ervaring om in een capsulehotel te verblijven. Heel futuristisch en ongebruikelijk! Er is een gratis pendelbus naar het strand. Er wordt overal op het eiland gebouwd, maar daar was ik op voorbereid omdat ik er vaak kom en het was geen probleem voor mij. Er was ook een projector op de kamer."

"A home hotel is not for sitting in the room. But we were unlucky with the weather and had to hang around inside. The TV does not work, mosquitoes, it is always better to hang the window to the inner courtyard. But it is very convenient to walk to both beaches, it is clean and tidy inside. The guy who works there tries very hard. Only with food it is better to agree on the time and amount, otherwise you will have to overpay the restaurants. Fins, mask for free, bike 5 dollars per day. In general, the option is very good for its price."

"Goed hotel, alle voorzieningen zijn beschikbaar. Er is een klein zwembad, maar we hebben niet zwemmen daar er een prachtige oceaan in de buurt. Toeristen waren zeer leuk. Loyaal personeel dat alle vragen snel heeft opgelost."

"Het hotel is nieuw met kwaliteitskamer reparatie, loodgieter en elektronica. Maar er waren geen roosters. Maar het hotel was niet afgerond tot het einde. Het personeel was aardig, luisterde naar onze wensen. De manager is zeer betrokken bij het hotel en aandachtig. Vanaf de neerwaartse kanten: 1) er is geen diversiteit bij het ontbijt, 2) de handdoeken worden slecht uitgebreid vanwege wat ze ruiken, 3) de schoonmaak in de kamer is niet grondig, we hebben de vloer geborsteld, de handdoeken veranderd en het bed gereguleerd. Ik merkte ook dat mijn manikyr set werd aangeraakt in de reiniging."

"We stumbled upon Ambra Maldives while staying elsewhere on the island. It looked new, immaculate and appealing, unlike many other establishments on Thoddoo. We ended up having lunch at Ambra every day, thanks to its proximity to Bikini Beach. The friendly general manager showed us one of the 6 new villas, which can sleep up to 5 people. Ambra has only been open since April 2025 and is operated by a team who have experience in some of the well known Maldivian resort brands such as The Four Seasons, which generally adhere to a much higher standard of tidiness and cleanliness than what we saw elsewhere on Thoddoo. Ambra is part-owned by Italian investors, and this is reflected in the menu, which features a number of Italian specialties that would have been good for dinner, such as Chicken Cacciatore and Lasagne. For lunch, we stuck with the delicious tuna burger, falafel flatbread and Caesar salad, along with blueberry smoothies and bitter lemon. (Authentic Italian pizzas would a nice addition to the menu.) It was a relief to have chilled water provided free of charge; our guesthouse only provided water at ambient temperature (i.e. 28C+), which wasn’t appealing, and no other beverage options besides tea and coffee. If we were to visit Thoddoo again, we’d definitely look to stay at Ambra Maldives, which is close to but outside the town centre and closer to the beach than any other places we saw. Well done, team Ambra, and keep up the high standards!"
