Rooms at 31 ★★★

"I spent 4 nights at Rooms at 31 whilst visiting family in the area. It is ideally situated within Stonehaven, a short walk to the seafront and a pleasant (but steep) walk to the war memorial and Dunottar Castle. Stonehaven itself has everything you might need for a short stay: places to eat, groceries etc. Rooms at 31 was clean and adequate for my needs. There were a few minor issues in the room which I have already contacted the owner about, but this did not adversely affect my stay. Breakfast is a self-serve affair with access to cereals, bread/toast, packaged morning goods, hot drinks and juice. The advantage of this set-up is that you can have breakfast at any time and it's not restricted to limited serving times as you would usually have in a B&B. It would have been useful to have had a mini fridge in the room, and access to a microwave, perhaps, for being able to heat food when eating out is not possible/desirable. It would also have been nice to feel that the breakfast room was usable outside of breakfast instead of feeling I needed to eat my takeaway in my room. Overall, I found the stay rather impersonal, not seeing anyone else for my entire stay, except for a very short encounter one morning in the breakfast room with whom I suspected may have been the owner. If I hadn't been visiting family, it would have been a rather lonely stay. This is not a fault, merely my preference. I can see how it would work well for businesses travellers or anyone who prefers the self-checkout in a supermarket and not dealing with other human beings!"

"This was a magical find. We arrived without a reservation, but they had room and welcomed us in. We enjoyed a clean, splendid room and huge bath and shower. All the amenties were spectacular. Michelle's breakfast was impossible to beat - homemade breads, made to order eggs, freshly processed bacon - o it was scrumptious. And to top it off the working farm had a splendid charm all on its own. Its location (Stonehaven) is a mecca for tourists, and centrally located for numerous activities and restaurants. Chapel of Barras Farm will not disappoint!"

"De ontvangst in dit kleine maar mooie guesthouse was zeer hartelijk. De eigenaar heeft ons een zolderkamer met adembenemend uitzicht op de getijden haven vol met vissers en plezierbootjes en een strand met gecontroleerde zwemplek. Met een heldere dag voor de boeg hebben wij 1 van de meest betoverende zonsopkomsten gezien ooit, recht voor onze neuzen. De kamer was rustig, luxe, schoon en comfortabel met misschien iets te hysterische spiegel armaturen, maar saai was het i.i.g. niet. Voor een eenvoudig ontbijt in de aparte louche kamer was een heerlijk luxe dezem brood gekocht wat/dat zeer gewaardeerd werd. Stonehaven is met zijn bars en restaurants en een prachtig kasteel (ruīne maar deels weer gerestaureerd )zeker een bezoek waard en in de directe omgeving is er genoeg te doen."

Crawfield Grange ★★★

"We vonden ons verblijf hier echt leuk. Het is gelegen op slechts een korte rijden van Aberdeen Airport, maar de faciliteit was rustig, rustig, en ontspannen. Het huis is absoluut mooi en je kunt zeggen dat zoveel gedachten in alle details zijn gegaan. De bedden zijn comfortabeler dan vele hotels die ik heb gehad. Mi Young en Neil waren prachtig. We voelden ons welkom vanaf het moment dat we aankwamen en ze vroegen of we iets nodig hadden. Mi Young heeft ook een heerlijk ontbijt bereid dat een hele reeks items had. We hadden een leuke gesprek en lieten gevoelens als familie. Bedankt voor uw gastvrijheid. We zouden graag hier weer blijven. Goed, Denise & Eric"
