"Our stay at this hostel in Nikko was incredible, and the hostess was the heart of it. She warmly welcomed us with perfect advice for visiting the local sights and a very useful bus map. She thoroughly explained how everything worked, making us feel at home immediately. The balanced breakfast she prepared was delicious and gave us great energy for exploring. Her kind gesture of gifting us origami for a safe journey truly touched our hearts. She is an exceptional host who creates a special, personal experience. "Convenient place just across Tobu Nikko station. For one night we had all we needed in our twin room, which was like a studio: private bathroom, kitchen corner with microwave, kettle, sink and fridge (no kitchen amenities), balcony with view. Heating and heated blanket did their job in the cold night. There’s a Supermarket and a Laundry service close by.
The hotel needs for sure some maintenance and insulation can be improved as it was very cold.
The only way to get to upper floors is by elevator, as I tried using the stairs but they were blocked by piles of sheets, which is not ideal as there should be emergency exits! Not really a budget accommodation compared to other places I stayed in Japan and for the standard offered."

"Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise).
This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn).
We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!"

"First off, do not trust Google Maps for directions. The directions take you up the alley behind the hotel. The hotel opens on the main street (Hwy. 119 is what Maps indicates).
This is an absolutely great little hotel, well located, clean and everything about the hotel I noticed, well looked after. It has a small, functional onsen that I used.
I was in their hostel section, a single bed, capsule style. A little tough for a creaky, bad knees, old person like me but a great stay. They have a small, affordable breakfast buffet (Oriental-style) for purchase that is decent with a variety of different dishes. And they have a machine that dispenses excellent, fresh coffees and other beverages.
It is a 2-star hotel and I will give it a 5 star rating as a 2 star hotel. Very good little hotel."

"Het hotel ligt tussen de stations JR Imaichi en Tobu ShimoImaichi. Er is een FamilyMart in de buurt, wat erg handig is. De omgeving is schoon en netjes, en ze bieden zelfs yukata's (lichte katoenen badjassen) aan. Niet-rokers die op de rokersverdieping verblijven, zouden de geur wellicht wat onaangenaam kunnen vinden, maar gelukkig is er ventilatie."

"The guesthouse is quite a way from Nikko town (10-15 mins by bus / 1 hour walk) but is in a good location for getting to the shrines or to Lake Ashi - there's a bus stop close by. The guesthouse was homely and had 2 private onsen. Our room was comfortable enough although the en-suite was very tiny! The host was welcoming but didn't speak any English which meant we had to communicate by translating on our phones. We booked to have breakfast at the guesthouse, but didn't realise that for booking the dinner we needed to give 24 hours+ notice so missed out!"

"Excellent price-performance ratio hotel with the best logistics you can have in Kinugawa. The facilities with garden are fresh, service is top grade. As for onsen, it is separated, but it has only one bath, which is expected from tiny hotels.
The only little nuisance you can encounter is the late night noise coming from opening doors.
Overall the experience was outstanding, I will choose this place again."

"De locatie ligt op 25-30 minuten lopen van station Tobu Nikko, maar je kunt er ook met de bus naartoe. We wisten echter niet dat de bussen maar tot 15.00 uur rijden, dus we hadden geen andere keus dan bergopwaarts te lopen. Het was echter een erg leuke ervaring en de wandeling was de moeite waard zodra we even konden uitrusten in dit bescheiden pension. De eigenaar was erg behulpzaam, gaf ons aardbeienijs en bood ons zelfs een lift naar het station aan voor de volgende ochtend. Ik zou zeggen dat deze plek ons de beste definitie van ”omotenashi” gaf. Als we ooit nog eens in Nikko zijn, zullen we hier zeker weer verblijven."

EEmily Rose LWe loved our stay here! The onsen is so delightful- a nice view of the river to enjoy while you soak. I wanted to keep the turtle print pajamas- very cute. The breakfast was good and the snacks and tea were perfect for us when it rained. The location is not far from the bus stop, restaurants, and the amazing wonderful jiro statues.

TTL.TeddyWe were hosted by an elderly couple, and his family members. They were super cute, friendly and polite. It's like their small family business, ground floor was a western restaurant, second floor onwards were all the guest rooms. They know a bit of English, so the communication wise no issue at all. What we love about this stay is that other than the room with gorgeous lake view, the host was super helpful to allow us to store our luggage with them even way before our check-in timing. Furthermore he even offer to send us to the laundry shop, when we just casually ask him about the laundry. What actually surprised me the most, was that he even FETCH us from the laundry shop after we were done. Will definitely come back to this place again if I'm in Nikko! Thumbs up! Super host!! 😁

GGastgebruikerI went to Yumoto for hiking and found this wonderful place. The staffs are very helpful. Although, they cannot fully communicate in English. They are trying their best to make sure my stay is the best experience I have.
Room is clean and has no AC.
Breakfast and dinner are traditional Japanese course and I love them.
About Onsen, it might not be in the best condition but it is good enough.
If I have a chance to return to Nikko, I will stay at this place again.

It is quite a walk from the bus stop with rather uneven road if you have wheeled luggage. Owner was nice to give us a ride out (at her convenience) to the bus stop. View from room of Mt nantai is lovely and it is convenient to visit the waterfalls...especially yudaki which was the best in my opinion.

Завтрак и ужин были очень вкусные и большие, так что днём нам даже не хотелось обедать во время прогулки. В номере всё чисто и аккуратно. Место тихое и красивое. Рядом большой супермаркет со всем необходимым. Остановка автобуса на водопады и озеро тоже очень близко. Также поблизости находится публичный онсен, там тоже хорошо отдохнули. В общем нам всё очень понравилось! Спасибо!

GGastgebruikerAmazing place. Located close to Tobu World Square and Edo Wonderland. Private onsen at rooftop is awesome, can use together with your family and friends..: Public onsen located in second floor is great too.. bring some coins for foot and body massage chair and drinks after bath.
The breakfast and dinner buffet are so great… love the choices they had ..: People are so friendly … We as a family are so great full for the amazing experiences… very much recommended…
