"Had a lovely stay here! I was in a 12 bed dorm but the room is very spacious and has a private bathroom/shower, all super clean, and then bed was comfy. The only thing is that the bedlight makes a sound every time it’s turned on/off: it’s funny but I was a bit worried to bother other guests. Ah, I was also able to do my laundry with no fees and was even given a little welcome bag. The location although not within the city walls is close to several bus stops and one can ride a bike easy to all the major attractions ~ which was a lovely way to explore Datong. The best thing is the staff though: incredibly helpful and friendly. On my last day they let me stay past the checkout time so that I could keep on working using their WiFi which was a massive massive help, and offered to lend me an umbrella and drive me as the rain was so heavy. Most def recommend staying here when you visit Datong!"

"This hotel is located in the heart of the ancient city of Datong. Although there were few steps of staircase leading to the entrance of the hotel and the reception was on level 2 and our room type was only available on the 3rd level. Upon check in the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo was very helpful and she helped us to carry our luggages to our room at level 3.. There was a small window in our room overseeing the street. The room was spacious and very clean. All corners, fixtures and furnitures in our room were wiped very clean. All amenities were provided inside the room too. The bed mattress and pillow were soft and very comfortable. Body gel, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hand wash and clothing detergent were all good quality. 2 water bottles, toothbrush, hair comb and slippers were provided in the room. There were space to hang our winter clothing and also washed socks and inner wears. The air-conditioner was superb as it can be adjusted to 4 types of air:normal, wet reduction, cold air and warm air, hence it made our stay more comfortable. There was also an air freshener machine in the room to refresh the air inside the room. So far this is the cleanest hotel room throughout all my China trips. The housekeeper was friendly and ensure the room being cleaned up daily. Overall, I would like to compliment the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo for her hospitality and kindness in helping us when we asked her for any information about Datong and places to eat. Xiao Guo always smilling and her warmness has let us felt very welcomed as a hotel guest. Another compliment was to be given to the housekeeper old lady who really did a great job to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel room and the entire hotel public areas. Highly recommended this hotel to all tourist."

"Ruyuan is an Oyo hotel near the bus and train station (not the high speed one). It may require 10+ minutes in Didi to get to the north city wall and 25 minutes to the high speed train. The staff were welcoming and helpful when i requested help. The room was a great value however the wifi did not work and neither did the sink drain. Overall, this is a good place to stay for the value but not as convenient as somewhere near the old city unless you are using the slow train or bus."

"The hotel is new (the TV screen protector hadn't even been removed yet) and the closets weren't fully set up. If you're arriving by car, you access the hotel via the second-level underground parking lot. Communication with the staff on Trip.com before arrival was excellent when I needed information. The rooms we chose were in the basement, but the hallway was lit by natural light through skylights. The owners don't speak English, but we managed to communicate using a translation app. They were very responsive and resolved any issues, even at midnight. The showers are a bit cramped; either the shower cabin isn't perfectly square, or in the other room, the space between the shower cabin and the sink is restricted. Housekeeping was done daily, and water bottles were provided. However, the toilet paper was supplied in very small quantities. If you ask at reception, they'll give you more, but it's always a hassle to have to go and ask when a normal amount could be provided initially. We only had one roll, which didn't seem full, regardless of whether you had a room for two or three people. The electrical outlets don't accommodate French plugs, similar to what you find in Shanghai and Beijing. There's no laundry service available. The location is good, in a new district that's still under construction. The alley leading to it at night is lovely, with the illuminated storefronts of the various houses. The hotel can arrange a paid taxi service between the station and the hotel for guests staying in the basement rooms. The rooms are well-equipped; only a few finishing touches, like bathroom caulking, are still needed."

"De accommodatie was een uitstekende ervaring, de meest comfortabele waar ik de afgelopen jaren tijdens mijn reizen ben geweest. De locatie is geweldig, midden in de oude stad Datong, waardoor het gemakkelijk is om verschillende bezienswaardigheden te bezoeken. Ik arriveerde rond 22:30 uur in Datong en belde de eigenaar voor een routebeschrijving; ze waren erg behulpzaam. Het was -18 graden Celsius buiten, ijskoud, maar de kamer was meteen warm en behaaglijk. De vloerverwarming was heerlijk en de eigenaar zei dat ik de airconditioning kon aanzetten als het te warm werd 😊. De kamer was schoon en netjes en het toilet was een modern model met een verwarmde bril, wat erg comfortabel was. De eigenaar was erg gastvrij en de kamer werd snel schoongemaakt; drinkwater en toiletpapier werden op tijd aangevuld. Een zeer aangenaam verblijf. Ik zal deze plek zeker weer kiezen als ik de oude stad Datong weer bezoek."

"Het schoonste hostel waar ik ooit geweest ben! En echt geweldige service. Super verwelkomende, behulpzame en gastvrije host waarmee we ondanks de taalbarrière heel goed contact hebben gehad. Zijn hulp bij het organiseren van ons bezoek aan de Yungan grotten en de hangede tempel waren erg fijn en ook behandelde hij ons echt als gasten in zijn eigen stad."
