Globales Simar
"Dit hotel is een lachertje. Sommige recensies hier zijn positief, maar ik geloof niet in de waarheid ervan. En jij kunt het maar beter ook niet geloven. Ik zal je vertellen hoe het echt is in dit hotel, want ik ben er net terug. Het eten is helemaal niet lekker, zoals Claudine of Cecilia B. schrijven. Integendeel - het eten is volkomen oneetbaar. En het gaat niet alleen om de smaak - ze serveren eten met schimmel! Als bewijs plaats ik foto's van tomaten, die meerdere keren in de eetzaal verschenen. De kok kan niet koken en is onverantwoordelijk. Het eten in Globales Simar is geschikt om varkens te voeren, niet mensen. Je moet overal voorzichtig mee zijn en goed opletten voordat je het op je bord legt, want je kunt een ernstige voedselvergiftiging oplopen. De keuze aan gerechten is erg beperkt. Soms aten we alleen aardappelen met gegrilde courgette als avondeten, omdat al het andere walgelijk was. De producten die ze gebruiken om eten voor gasten te koken zijn van de laagste kwaliteit. De drankjes zijn, zoals in elk driesterrenhotel, erg slap. En als je een hotdog bij het zwembad bestelt, pas dan op dat je niet van het lachen in het water valt. Ik heb die hotdog rechtstreeks in de prullenbak gegooid. Ik zou hem niet aan mijn hond voeren. Het entertainment in het hotel is niet erg interessant. In 7 dagen was er maar één flamencoband en één keer zong een stel mee op playback. Op de andere dagen waren er wedstrijden op tv of andere onzin. De kinderclub is constant gesloten. Op het terras poepen duiven op alle tafels en stoelen (en het zou genoeg zijn om parasols te installeren). Het strand is mooi, maar je moet oppassen voor kwallen. Van de positieve dingen kan ik alleen maar schrijven dat het een prachtig uitzicht had, grote en relatief schone kamers en comfortabele bedden. Ik zal dit hotel zeker aan niemand aanbevelen en ik zal er zelf ook nooit meer teruggaan. Ik ben in veel 3*-hotels geweest. Ik ben gewend aan deze standaard en heb geen hoge verwachtingen. Maar Globales Simar is de slechtste plek waar ik ooit mijn vakantie heb doorgebracht."

"We were lucky to book 4 nights at our favorite hotel in Port Pollenca, and for the first time we had a junior suite. We were really happy about the room. Plenty of space, good closets for all our close and belongings. The bathroom was good size and the shower was really good. Our balcony had Sun loungers which was really nice, and also table and two chairs. As always the staff was really nice and welcoming, we feel like coming Home when we arrive there. Big thank you for that. Breakfast also good as it normally is. We Will return as soon as possible."

"We stayed here for 10 nights from 6th September with our 2.5 year old, self-catering. It ticked all the boxes for us. A small hotel with excellent facilities for children at it’s sister hotel across the road, which also felt quite small, in a good way! Location was excellent, close to the beach and all the shops and restaurants of Puerto Pollensa. We found it to be very quiet which was again perfect for us. There was entertainment four nights a week at the sister hotel but either it had finished when we returned to the hotel or it was so quiet we didn’t hear it. We caught the end of one act in the bar one evening and it was very good. Our daughter loved the trampoline, the soft play and the mini disco. Big thanks to Alex who worked so hard trying to cajole a small group of 2/3 year olds while we were there. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, from reception to the cleaning team. One evening we ate at the sister hotel for bbq night and thought it was good value for money - €26 each but free for our daughter plus a free bottle of wine for booking before 6pm! We will definitely return here. Everything was so easy it meant we could relax and enjoy time as a family."

Mar Hotels Playa Mar & Spa
"I'd looked at this hotel several times before but was always put off by the awful, plastic waterslide feature which I assumed meant the place was overrun with small children. Well, I was proved very wrong. Yes, the waterslide is there (but you hardly notice it) and yes, there are a lot of small children but there is a huge amount more to this hotel. First impressions were positive with a pristine, tranquil reception area and small manicured garden with fish ponds. We had one of the premier rooms with outdoor day-bed but I would not bother with this again as we did not use it. I'd rather book one of the 1st or 2nd floor rooms with balcony. Our apartment did have a full size bed adjacent to the living room which was perfect for our 16yo as it gave us all a bit of space and privacy. The hotel is made up of 4 separate blocks, only 3 floors high. Each corridor has a water dispenser and rooms have fridge and microwave so ideal for families. Highlights for us were: - the AI drinks (my liver is still recovering) Never had to queue once and they have waiter service at night - the food. I hate excessive buffets and associated food-waste but the the hotel's was perfect with something to suit everyone, freshly prepared, regularly replenished and 'theme' nights. - the animation team. Onsite entertainment is simply not my thing but these guys, especially Andrea, were great. No cajoling of guests wanting to keep themselves to themselves but genuinely there to make sure those who did, had a good time. The water polo was especially entertaining and my shy son even joined in. It was as entertaining to watch as it was to take part! The paella and sangria demo was also very good. - the staff. All friendly and efficient. Arrived home to discover that husband left his Kindle behind and they're currently sorting out its return. - cleanliness. Absolutely no issues. - location. At the far end of the Pine Walk so very quiet and an enjoyable, 20-30 minute stroll to the centre of town. Downsides - the gym. Not up to much at all. If you're serious about training, use the private one in town. - suite with outside day-bed. Not worth the extra money in my opinion - evening entertainment. I can't comment on that for children but there was not much for adults. That said, most people seemed happy to entertain themselves. I'd say this hotel offers something for everyone - solo travellers, friends, couples and families. I usually return from hotels saying "it was good but....." On this occasion I really struggle to find fault and I can understand why people return year after year. I certainly would !"

"We stayed two nights after finishing our hike on the GR221. The Desbrull is a small family-run hotel. Our room was clean and quiet with a nice view of the museum. The breakfast was ample and the location is convenient to the regional bus stop. A staff member is around in the morning at breakfast time but it is a system of checking yourself in and out with instructions sent ahead of time. We were pleased with our stay and would not hesitate to return again to the Hotel Desbrull."

"We had the pleasure of staying at the Calvario Plaza for one night in late October. The hotel is a gem of a boutique residence, situated at the bottom of the famous steps to El Calvari. The charming hotel has a handful of beautifully presented rooms, with exposed original stonework and dual aspect windows overlooking the picturesque Placa del Seglars. Here, you can watch people start their arduous trek up the 365 steps to the chapel. The wonderful location and quality on offer were equalled by the breakfast we had the following morning. The food was beautifully presented, avocado, salmon and scrambled eggs with some of the best coffee we have had on the Island. The Calvario Plaza was five star quality , service and location without the 5* price tag. We would highly recommend the hotel, if you are looking for a getaway in the Centre of Pollenca."
