"De binnenplaats is prachtig en de locatie is geweldig, niet ver van de City God Temple, wat een oase van rust biedt te midden van alle drukte.
De eigenaar en zijn collega's waren allemaal erg behulpzaam. Ze haalden ons op en brachten ons naar de parkeerplaats bij de New East Gate. Bij aankomst gaven ze aanbevelingen voor attracties, reisroutes en populaire restaurants, en boden ze ledenkortingen aan.
Toen we uitcheckten, boden ze ons beleefd aan om wat oude azijn mee naar huis te nemen, omdat ik die vergeten was mee te nemen. Ze stuurden het mee naar huis, samen met wat spullen die ik in mijn kamer had laten liggen!
De oude stad Pingyao was veel beter dan de recensies die ik online las. Het heeft een eeuwenoude architectuur, heerlijk eten en culturele bezienswaardigheden. Ik kom er zeker nog eens terug."

"De B&B is erg sfeervol, schoon en netjes. Zodra we aankwamen, hielp de eigenaar ons om de kamer te upgraden. De service was erg warm en hij gaf ook cadeautjes aan de kinderen. Het restaurant dat de B&B aanraadde was ook erg goed, met 20% korting. We hebben twee keer gegeten bij Ren Bei Fang, en het restaurant was ook erg goed. Ik vond vooral hun gestoofde varkensvlees met theesmaak lekker, dat op een unieke manier was bereid. Het meest ontroerende is dat we vroeg in de ochtend uitcheckten en niet van plan waren om terug te komen, maar we hadden niet verwacht dat de baas de kamer voor ons zou vrijhouden toen we terugkwamen, zodat we lekker konden uitrusten in de warme kamer. Bedankt baas 🙏 dat je zo attent bent. Hij is de beste hoteleigenaar die we ooit hebben ontmoet, daar bestaat geen twijfel over."

"Prachtige herinneringen aan Pingyao! De herberg ligt aan Yamen Street, dicht bij de meest welvarende South Street. Het is echt een bruisende plek buiten en een rustige plek binnen. Ik vind de omgeving van de herberg bijzonder mooi, die elegant en rustig is. Het meisje van de klantenservice heeft sinds de boeking contact met me opgenomen, de aankomsttijd bevestigd en me opgehaald bij het hek van de oostelijke poort. De kamer was schoon en comfortabel. Ik verbleef er opnieuw omdat het zo comfortabel was. Het ontbijt is eenvoudig, maar smaakt zoals thuis! De dames in de bediening zijn zeer proactief en enthousiast. Omdat de trein op de dag van vertrek 's avonds vertrok, wilde ik 's middags pauze nemen en de klantenservice hielp me ook om het uitchecken uit te stellen tot 2 uur. Ik was erg tevreden en een echte aanrader!"

The hotel seems very new, the rooms are very comfortable and, of course, very clean. The breakfast is great and varied (even for a European who eats sweets in the morning 😅). And most importantly, the staff. I arrived in the evening, and two young women checked me in. They were extremely friendly and gave me advice on where to eat and what to see in the city. Thank you for introducing me to Pingyao and for representing your hotel. I interacted with many Chinese people during my trip, but never on such a high level. Thank you to the team at the Mercure de Pingyao and a big thanks to Xiao Wang 小王 and Xiao Cheng 小程 for your hospitality and kindness."

No. 17 of Vacation Homes in Pingyao Ancient City"Dit is de eerste keer dat ik echt een recensie wilde achterlaten. We kozen dit hotel in Pingyao omdat het koud begon te worden en de kamers, met hun moderne voorzieningen, zo aantrekkelijk waren. Het hotel ligt aan een prachtige oude binnenplaats in Shanxi. De kamers waren schoon en hygiënisch, en de binnenplaats was perfect om te ontspannen en foto's te maken. De toiletartikelen waren vergelijkbaar met die van Huazhu Hotels, en de kamer was erg warm. Het hotel heeft een schattige corgi genaamd Qiuqiu, waar mijn kind graag mee speelde. Het hotelpersoneel was erg geduldig en vriendelijk. Na het kijken van ”Encounter Pingyao” raakten we een beetje verdwaald op de hoofdweg en belden we het hotel. Een knappe jongeman genaamd Xiao Wang kwam ons meteen ophalen. Rond 9 of 10 uur 's ochtends bracht het hotelpersoneel ons hete oliethee en stenen cakejes. Het ontbijt in het hotel was ook erg goed, een typisch Shanxi-ontbijt. Toen we in Pingyao aankwamen, haalden de medewerkers van Hongdengliu ons op van het station, en toen we vertrokken, brachten ze ons naar het hogesnelheidstreinstation – het was echt hartverwarmend. Het is een geweldige plek voor senioren en kinderen. Ik ga er zeker weer verblijven de volgende keer dat ik in Pingyao ben. Ik kan het van harte aanbevelen; dit is mijn eerlijke mening. Binnenplaatsen in Shanxi hebben een magische sfeer die je meteen tot rust brengt zodra je binnenstapt..."

"We hadden veel meer verwacht, gezien de hotelrecensies die we op Tripadvisor hadden gelezen. De kamer was schoon en had de basisvoorzieningen. De man die ons verwelkomde was vriendelijk en behulpzaam. We hadden een kamer op de begane grond met uitzicht op een opslagruimte en de trap naar de eerste verdieping. We moesten de gordijnen dicht houden om niet van buitenaf gezien te worden. Het bed van onze zoon was niet opgemaakt, dus moesten we er zelf een opmaken; we kregen zelfs geen kussen. Het ontbijt wordt geserveerd op de mooie binnenplaats, maar het wordt niet echt geserveerd. Niemand ruimt de tafels af of neemt restjes en borden weg van de persoon voor je. De locatie is gunstig en de gratis rit naar het station was een zeer welkome bonus. Het hotel bevindt zich achter een traditionele kledingverhuurwinkel, genaamd Red Lantern. Zoek dus niet naar een hotel; alleen naar het Red Lantern-bord. We zouden het met mate aanraden."

Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness.
The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance. Additionally, we have incorporated environmental and humanistic sciences to adopt a modern, luxurious style within the rooms, equipped with smart guest control systems, custom-made bathrooms, and ergonomically designed memory foam bedding and mattresses. The mansion has been transformed into a masterpiece that seamlessly blends ancient craftsmanship with modern technology.
After a century of existence, the ancient courtyard has been reborn as the “Kang Qian Ji Mansion.” We respect the original appearance of the cultural relics, preserving the principle of “etiquette” and emphasizing rectitude, with a strong vertical axis and balanced symmetry in the architectural style. Yet, within the interior, modern elements of light luxury and elegance have been integrated, blending tradition with modernity to add an extra touch of comfort and modernity to your trip to Pingyao.
