"Dit is de eerste keer dat ik echt een recensie wilde achterlaten. We kozen dit hotel in Pingyao omdat het koud begon te worden en de kamers, met hun moderne voorzieningen, zo aantrekkelijk waren. Het hotel ligt aan een prachtige oude binnenplaats in Shanxi. De kamers waren schoon en hygiënisch, en de binnenplaats was perfect om te ontspannen en foto's te maken. De toiletartikelen waren vergelijkbaar met die van Huazhu Hotels, en de kamer was erg warm. Het hotel heeft een schattige corgi genaamd Qiuqiu, waar mijn kind graag mee speelde. Het hotelpersoneel was erg geduldig en vriendelijk. Na het kijken van ”Encounter Pingyao” raakten we een beetje verdwaald op de hoofdweg en belden we het hotel. Een knappe jongeman genaamd Xiao Wang kwam ons meteen ophalen. Rond 9 of 10 uur 's ochtends bracht het hotelpersoneel ons hete oliethee en stenen cakejes. Het ontbijt in het hotel was ook erg goed, een typisch Shanxi-ontbijt. Toen we in Pingyao aankwamen, haalden de medewerkers van Hongdengliu ons op van het station, en toen we vertrokken, brachten ze ons naar het hogesnelheidstreinstation – het was echt hartverwarmend. Het is een geweldige plek voor senioren en kinderen. Ik ga er zeker weer verblijven de volgende keer dat ik in Pingyao ben. Ik kan het van harte aanbevelen; dit is mijn eerlijke mening. Binnenplaatsen in Shanxi hebben een magische sfeer die je meteen tot rust brengt zodra je binnenstapt..."

"Prachtige herinneringen aan Pingyao! De herberg ligt aan Yamen Street, dicht bij de meest welvarende South Street. Het is echt een bruisende plek buiten en een rustige plek binnen. Ik vind de omgeving van de herberg bijzonder mooi, die elegant en rustig is. Het meisje van de klantenservice heeft sinds de boeking contact met me opgenomen, de aankomsttijd bevestigd en me opgehaald bij het hek van de oostelijke poort. De kamer was schoon en comfortabel. Ik verbleef er opnieuw omdat het zo comfortabel was. Het ontbijt is eenvoudig, maar smaakt zoals thuis! De dames in de bediening zijn zeer proactief en enthousiast. Omdat de trein op de dag van vertrek 's avonds vertrok, wilde ik 's middags pauze nemen en de klantenservice hielp me ook om het uitchecken uit te stellen tot 2 uur. Ik was erg tevreden en een echte aanrader!"

"De B&B is erg sfeervol, schoon en netjes. Zodra we aankwamen, hielp de eigenaar ons om de kamer te upgraden. De service was erg warm en hij gaf ook cadeautjes aan de kinderen. Het restaurant dat de B&B aanraadde was ook erg goed, met 20% korting. We hebben twee keer gegeten bij Ren Bei Fang, en het restaurant was ook erg goed. Ik vond vooral hun gestoofde varkensvlees met theesmaak lekker, dat op een unieke manier was bereid. Het meest ontroerende is dat we vroeg in de ochtend uitcheckten en niet van plan waren om terug te komen, maar we hadden niet verwacht dat de baas de kamer voor ons zou vrijhouden toen we terugkwamen, zodat we lekker konden uitrusten in de warme kamer. Bedankt baas 🙏 dat je zo attent bent. Hij is de beste hoteleigenaar die we ooit hebben ontmoet, daar bestaat geen twijfel over."

"De locatie van het hotel is goed, maar de voorgevel is vrij smal, verscholen in een smal steegje van West Street. We hadden ons een rustige, vredige, oude residentie te midden van alle drukte voorgesteld, een perfecte plek om te ontspannen en te genieten van de rust van de oude stad. Maar na het inchecken kregen we niet eens de kans om te ontspannen op de binnenplaats of foto's te maken. Waarom? Slechts drie of vijf stappen verderop, via het kronkelende pad vanaf de ingang van onze kamer, werden we al overspoeld door reisfotografen. De hele voor- en achtertuin van het hotel stonden vol met reisfotografen, waardoor het voelde alsof we in een reisfotostudio verbleven, zonder enige privacy. De fotoshoots, die om 12.00 uur begonnen toen we incheckten, duurden tot 21.00 uur en 8.00 uur de volgende ochtend, waren non-stop. We verbleven op de t****e verdieping en misschien vanwege de toplocatie voor foto's, durfden we de kamer meerdere keren niet te verlaten omdat een jonge dame in kostuum de deur blokkeerde. Bah! Dit is echt ongepast. Het hotel zou de positionering van de herberg moeten heroverwegen, zodat betalende gasten kunnen genieten van een privé, ongestoord verblijf. U kunt ook vóór het boeken een vriendelijke herinnering op Ctrip vermelden, zoals: ”Dit hotel biedt reisfotografie aan. Boek alstublieft niet als u dit erg vindt.” We hopen ook dat Ctrip in de toekomst een melding zal plaatsen bij boekingen voor toeristische attracties in het hele land, zodat consumenten kunnen overwegen of ze hotels boeken die reisfotografie aanbieden. Dank u wel."

"This is without doubt the ideal place to stay in Pingyao Gucheng. It is located pretty much equidistant from the 4 gate towers - smack in the middle of the ancient town. It is right at the edge of the no-car zone (which is approximately the Southern half of the Gucheng), and this means that the hotel's car can drop you off right at the hotel's gate, and there is no need to roll your luggage down a street or transfer from car to electric cart. The Gucheng's main street is 5 minutes' walk away, easy access to all the restaurants, shops and main attractions. The hotel oozes old world charm, yet is up-to-date with modern amenities like heating in both room and bathroom, comfortable beds, key cards, etc. Hygiene and service were impeccable. The driver picked us up from and dropped us back at the high-speed train station on time, front desk staff checked on our needs all the time, helped with our bags (driver calling ahead before arriving), gave us daily fruit platters and water, etc. We had a fantastic time, and felt more taken care of than anywhere else on this month-long trip in China. Definitely recommend this hotel."

"We added Pingyao Ancient City to our itinerary at the last minute, but all the decent guesthouses were booked. We were also a bit worried about the hygiene of guesthouses, so we ultimately chose the chain hotel Atour. We heard it officially opened on May 1st, so we were probably among the first guests to stay in our rooms. All the rooms were on the second floor, and there was a slight odor, so they immediately provided each room with an air purifier. The Atour bedding was, needless to say, all Atour Planet brand, very comfortable. Breakfast: The restaurant was small, but the selection was comprehensive. The food quality was also very good. The ambiance is excellent, see the pictures."

Every brick and stone tells a story. Every street and alley narrates tales of the past and present. Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness. The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance. Additionally, we have incorporated environmental and humanistic sciences to adopt a modern, luxurious style within the rooms, equipped with smart guest control systems, custom-made bathrooms, and ergonomically designed memory foam bedding and mattresses. The mansion has been transformed into a masterpiece that seamlessly blends ancient craftsmanship with modern technology.
