"De kamer is schoon en comfortabel, met zachte verlichting. De ligging is erg handig, precies tussen 2 MRT-stations. Er is een winkelcentrum met supermarkt naast het hotel, wat erg handig is. De volgende keer verblijf ik weer in Illume.
Het enige nadeel is dat het kussen te zacht is en niet voldoende steun biedt. Het zou beter zijn als er verschillende kussens waren om uit te kiezen."

Het eten is goed, hoewel hetzelfde voor 4 dagen hehe, maar het is het waard voor de betaalde prijs, alleen de laatste dag is zo duur vanwege de vakantie. "＜Locatie van het hotel＞. Mijn vlucht landde om 23:30 uur op de luchthaven. Overdag reed er een Kuo-Kuang bus (ik denk nummer 1814) die recht tegenover het hotel stopte.
's Ochtends dacht ik dat ik bus 1819 van Kuo-Kuang naar Taipei Centraal Station moest nemen en dan een taxi.
Na de route goed te hebben bekeken, ontdekte ik dat uitstappen bij de ingang aan Kulun Street, twee haltes voor Taipei Centraal Station,
een rechte wandeling van 7-8 minuten langs de hoofdstraat was. Bus 1819 van Kuo-Kuang naar het hotel nemen was dus handig.
Voor reizen naar de stad was station Minquan West Road (rode en gele lijn) op 5 minuten loopafstand, dus erg dichtbij en gemakkelijk.

Het ontbijt werd geserveerd van 6:00 tot 10:00 uur, dus ik had een laat ontbijt. Het was fijn om nog wat vrije tijd te hebben na het opstaan.
Het menu veranderde elke dag een beetje en ik kon gerechten in ********* stijl proeven.
Over het algemeen waren de faciliteiten een beetje gedateerd, maar het was een hotel met een goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding."

Great location next to Shandao temple MRT and within walking distance to Taipei station, nice restaurants, cafes and the famed Fuhang soy milk. I also enjoyed the excellent lunch buffer at the hotel restaurant Kitchen 12 at incredibly reasonable price. But please note that Marriott Bonvoy platinum elite or higher tier members do not receive the usual executive lounge access or free breakfast if you book via Trip.com (you need to book directly with Marriott to enjoy the benefits).

GGastgebruikerThis is my first time spending my vacation at Amba Taipei Songshan. I was there for 7D6N from Thu 11th Dec 2025 to Wed 17th Dec 2025. The hotel lobby was on the 17th floor of the Amba building. The front counter staff were very nice and friendly. I was given a pair of slippers with the name Amba on it as a free gift. The Medium River View King Bed room was on the highest 21st floor. The sanitary conditions in my room was good and well-maintained. Everyday the housekeeper will tidy my bed, clean the bathroom and toilet and sweep the floor. I put my passport in a safe with my own password in my room. On my 2nd day on Thu 12th Dec 2025, I had visited the 24 hours hotel gym on the 18th floor. Although it was a small gym, I think they had enough equipment like treadmill, step machine and weights to keep me fit. Amba Taipei Songshan do not hv a swimming pool becos it is considered a 4 star hotel. I don't like to swim so it is alright for me. Breakfast time was from 630am - 10am which sounds a bit weird for me becos most hotels that I had stayed overseas and local had breakfast time from 630am - 1030am, extra 30mins. Not much choices for breakfast. Two main types :
(1) Chinese : stir fried noodles or rice + cabbage + red bean bao + meatball, porridge provided with pickled cucumbers
(2) Western : omelette with no ingredients & fried egg, salad furnished with different ingredients like green beans, bread provided with jam & peanut butter, hard boiled eggs, salami and peppered pastrami, baked beans, hash brown and chia seeds
Personally, for breakfast, I loved the salad with green beans, omelette, hard boiled eggs, salami, peppered pastrami and 1 cup of cold chia seeds + kopi O. I was very surprised to have 1 cup of cold chia seeds for my breakfast becos chia seeds is healthy and usually not found in breakfast list in hotels. I had stayed in 2010 at Grand Hyatt Taipei before and did not have chia seeds for breakfast at Grand Hyatt Taipei, a 5 star hotel.
Amba Taipei Songshan has a bridge on the 3rd floor which linked to Songshan bus interchange & Songshan MRT. It was very convenient to walk over to have my lunch and dinner at the shopping mall on top of Songshan bus interchange and Songshan MRT.
The temperature outside was 18 - 19 deg C. Was considered very cold to me. So I had to wear double layer tee and a thick windbreaker to keep me warm when I went out.
Overall, the stay at Amba Taipei Songshan was above average.

Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable.
2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance
When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside?
3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior
After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues.
As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight.
We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of:
- Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance
- Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival
- Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior
We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future.

GGastgebruikerIt’s a uniquely styled hotel, more of a darker colour theme, but very nice. The room and bed was a bit small in comparison The Grand Hotel which is even nicer at a steeper price of course.
The location is one of the most convenient you can get, right next to all transits, booked it because it’s close to Taipei Main Station as we were travelling back from Alishan. It also has a nice shopping centre in the same building.

ZZifengxuejiHet hotelontbijt was matig en de gekookte rijstnoedels waren ook niet lekker. De medewerkers bij de receptie waren volledig ongeïnteresseerd. Hoewel we bij het boeken hadden gevraagd om een kamer op een hogere verdieping, uit de buurt van de lift en rustig, kregen we een kamer op de begane grond, pal naast de lift en uitkijkend op een drukke hoofdweg. Het voelde alsof er totaal geen aandacht aan onze wensen was besteed.
De afvoer van de wastafel was extreem traag, wat erg storend was. Ook opvallend: bij een ander vijfsterrenhotel waren er geen tandenborstels aanwezig (deze moest je zelf kopen, naar verluidt vanwege overheidsvoorschriften, maar in onze B&B in Kenting werden ze wel verstrekt, wat vreemd is). Het elektrische toilet leek puur voor de show; de stijl was weliswaar Japans, maar het functioneerde totaal niet. Waarom dan geen gewoon toilet plaatsen?
Aan de overkant bevindt zich weliswaar een 24-uurs Carrefour, maar de prijzen daar zijn absurd hoog! Ximending ligt op ongeveer 10 minuten lopen, een andere metrolijn is binnen 5 minuten bereikbaar en het Nationaal Paleismuseum is ook niet ver weg. Het enige pluspunt van dit hotel is de gunstige locatie!
Er verblijven relatief veel Japanse, Koreaanse en andere buitenlandse gasten. De geluidsisolatie is matig, waardoor je geluiden van de buren en de gang goed kunt horen.

GGastgebruikerCheck-in time is 3PM but we arrived at 2PM and were allowed to get the room which was a pleasant surprise. The reception staff was also nice.
The room itself was spacious and clean. One of the main issues we encountered during the stay in Taiwan was lack of sound-proofing … but not at this accomodation. We could (nearly) not hear sounds from outside the room.
Located nearby are multiple convenience stores and restaurants. In terms of mobility, a big YouBike lot is located just across the street and about 5-10 minutes by foot are a MRT station and a big Bus station.
Overall this was a pleasant stay.

De kamer was gerenoveerd en schoon. Er stond een bank met voetenbankje, een bureau en er was genoeg ruimte voor twee personen. Onze badkamer had zowel een douche als een bad. Er waren geurige shampoo, douchegel, conditioner, lotion en een föhn aanwezig. Er was echter geen kluisje op de kamer, dus we moesten onze spullen zelf veilig opbergen. Het ontbijt bestond uit een dagelijks wisselend broodje, koffie, thee en sap. Ik heb de neiging om te veel te eten bij buffetten, dus dit was precies goed. Het personeel was vriendelijk en velen spraken Japans, wat geruststellend was. Het is een uitstekende prijs-kwaliteitverhouding, gezien de ligging vlakbij het centraal station van Taipei, het raam en de goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding. Ik kan het van harte aanbevelen.
