The issues are the rain shower was leaking spraying upwards. The air-conditioning is having a malfunction. It's either too warm or too cold. It's like 8degrees at night and it's really cold in the room or hot like sauna. Well stayed there for 2nights. There are Christmas decorations for the season. It make the hotel lobby livelier. Morning breakfast is decent. Its served with American breakfast and local Chinese cuisine. There are two major shopping malls beside it and one opposite. Great malls to hang out for Starbucks or McDonald's. There are many chinese restaurants available serving delicious food. Western food and Japanese cuisine are available too.

I was worried because the journey was too far before departure, but the owner is really super nice , very talkative and introduced me to many characteristics of Tulou. The picture of Heitian in the picture below is the interior of Yuqinglou Inn. It is very similar to the scene in the movie Big Fish and Begonia that I have seen. The food cooked by the proprietress is also very delicious! ! ! The price is very fair! ! ! The sanitation of the inn is very clean, and the boss will also ask us about our needs. If you want to explore the tulou in a more relaxed way, I would recommend booking at least one night in the area. We went for the boutique experience at Du Lv hotel, a beautifully remodeled tulou near Yongding. We were 100% satisfied with the gorgeous and refined accommodation and the wonderful hospitality. With only 6 rooms available, the hotel never feels crowded or noisy so we were able to have a good rest. There is also a lot of common areas within the facilities where you can sit to read or enjoy a cup of tea. Our loft room was comfortable with all the necessary amenities. A very Instagram worthy Chinese breakfast is included in the price of the room and served at another location (remodeled by the same owner) nearby. A special thank you to Kayla who speaks good English and helped us organize transportation from/ to Xiamen and the tulou clusters in the area. We had our evening meals at the only restaurant in the village and the food was fresh, the service was friendly and the price was reasonable. The tulou that you can visit in the village feel very authentic and most of them are still inhabited so you can really understand how people live. During our stay, we visited those tulou and Chuxi cluster that I would recommend because it is more picturesque and not as touristy as Tianluokeng.

This hotel is located in a very friendly, small village. We stayed three nights and freely walked the village and the Tulous often being stopped by curious villagers to ask us where we are from. It’s clear foreigners are few and far between in this village but everyone was very welcoming. We have no complaints about the cleanliness, location or breakfast. The rooms and hotel itself are beautiful. If you are a light sleeper (like my friend) the babies crying in the next room or the child and father laughing and chatting in the other room till gone midnight might bother you. If you’re a deep sleeper like me, you’ll be fine! The hotel staff didn’t really offer much information to us initially. You’re kind of left to it. But when I added them to wechat they did answer questions we had and they cleaned the room when asked. For future reference here’s some information for foreigners who make make the journey. We found two good restaurants in the village and there are small shops with basic necessities. You can arrange a car to take you to different Tulous driving distance away or you could just walk through the village and into neighbouring villages exploring the more authentic Tulous. To be honest, the “tourist” Tulous weren’t of much interest and didn’t take a single photo. The more authentic, natural, “left to their own devices” ones were much more appealing to us. You can’t get the typical shot from a hilltop of a small group of round Tulous here in this village but you can get so much more of an authentic small, relaxing, quiet village experience at your own pace. We had a driver from Xiamen airport - 3.5 hours there because he didn’t take the highway but the provincial road. On the way back to the airport we came via the highway and it was 2 hours. It’s quite far away but we think it’s very worth it if you go prepared. We would definitely stay in this hotel again. We booked this hotel, therefore the location based on the look of comfort and the fact we wanted traditional, with modern amenities so we could relax as well as explore. It ticked all those boxes.
