MRS Chryssana Beach Hotel ★★★

"Just back from Mrs Chrysannas. The hotel was very pretty and spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As we arrived late 1am, there was no-one to meet us, but our key and directions were left at the front door and we checked in fully the next day. The room was spacious, had a good sized balcony with sea view, but was in the shade all day and the room lacked storage for our clothes having just a wardrobe and only enough room in the drawers for underwear, so we lived out of our cases. The pool area was lovely but not so of you have children, as nothing for them except a shallow pool. The pool did not open until 10.30 so if you want an early morning swim you will be disappointed and closed at 7.30 for our 1st week but got earlier and earlier during our stay until it was closing at 6. This hotel advertises as quiet and tranquil and it was, but was lacking in atmosphere and could have done with some Cretan music at the bar and in the background at the restaurant area to remind us of where we were staying! The food. Well it was a bit hit and miss for us. Staying all inclusive we had a buffet for the meals. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of cooked or continental. but the cooked was cold by the time we reached the table with it. Lunch and dinner were uninspiring and we were offered some very fatty pork on at least 4 occasions. There was a lack of vegetables at the evening meal - thank goodness for the greek salad which I ate a lot of! Other reviews mentioned a bbq at the pool area during the day but all we were offered was sandwiches and cake. We ate out several times to get a more greek experience. The area was quiet, the village was small and a bit out of the way but the bus to Chania was frequent and cheap. Loved Chania!. Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt it could have been better"

"We stayed in a deluxe suite with a pool for 7 days. The room was somewhat run-down and felt quite old, unlike the photos online. Cleanliness was also subpar, likely due to the room's age. For example, there was mold in the grout between the bathroom sink and surrounding tiles, and the floor was cracked and always felt dirty. The sofa was white but very dirty, with faded colors and grime. The room's soundproofing was poor; we could hear conversations from upstairs in the bathroom. Furthermore, although the hotel advertised an all-inclusive package, they were very strict about bottled water and meal times. Each person was only allowed one bottle of water at a time, and it wasn't delivered; we had to get it ourselves from the bar. We were rushed around for meals if it was even slightly late, and the staff became quite rude. We had a small baby traveling with us, and although we requested a crib during booking and reminded the hotel via WhatsApp, there was no crib in the room. We waited over an hour after check-in before an extra crib was provided, disrupting the baby's sleep. In short, our experience with the hotel was subpar; the facilities, cleanliness, and service were not worth it."

"We zijn net terug van 10 dagen doorgebracht in Spilia Village. We hebben een fantastisch verblijf gehad: een plek om aan te bevelen aan wie op zoek is naar een authentieke plek in een dorp dat momenteel wordt gerestaureerd, ver van zielloze hotelcomplexen. Zeer warm welkom: dank aan Arthémis voor de moeite om ons in het Frans te woord te staan, dank aan Manos voor zijn dagelijkse goede humeur en aan Dora en Miranta voor hun vriendelijkheid!! en voor al diegenen wier namen we ons niet noodzakelijkerwijs herinnerden... Iedereen was erg aardig en attent! Zeer mooi zwembad met prachtige bomen, restaurant in stenen interieur, kortom wij hebben genoten!!"

Our shower leaked and sprayed everywhere, including on the electrical outlets and the light fixture. Guess what, cancellation and refund are not possible. They kept €2,100, the total amount of the stay. Any reputable hotel refunds in these cases. They are dishonest. This hotel is a SCAM. Do NOT go there. "Mijn zoon en ik hebben hier een week verbleven en vonden dit echt een heel goed hotel. Er zijn heel veel sportmogelijkheden, grote en degelijke fitness binnen en buiten. (ideaal voor crossfit liefhebbers) 2 x tennispleinen, vind het wel jammer dat je 10 euro moet betalen, zelf bij ALL In formule. Mountainbike ook beschikbaar maar tegen betaling en 1 dag op voorhand aanvragen. Veel en goed georganiseerd sportschema in groepslessen, Wod, circuittraining, core, spinning, yoga, sub, enz... Ik heb er fantastische wandelingen gedaan. Er hangen 3 routes uit vooraan aan de ingang van het hotel, via strava app. Heel handig De wandeling van 5 km en 11 km zijn het mooist, die van 11 km is echt indrukwekkend mooi maar heel zwaar! Het eten is lekker en gevarieerd, ook rekening houdend met vegetariërs, gluten en lactose vrij. Keuze genoeg en echt lekker! Alleen de koffie kan beter ;-) Snacks zijn beschikbaar van 11u tot 18u. (Ideaal voor kinderen) Er zijn inderdaad ook thema avonden, BBQ avonden, vlees en vis, deze zijn wel betalend. 21 euro pp wanneer je ALL In formule hebt. Kamers zijn proper en verzorgd, er is mini bar aanwezig waar water, koffie en thee gratis zijn, al de rest is betalend, alsook de zakjes chips en nootjes (wel vrij duur). De flesjes water en koffie en thee wordt dagelijks aangevuld en indien je het wenst wordt er 2 x per dag schoongemaakt. Het strand is een keienstrand, hier is het echt aan te raden om waterschoenen aan te doen ( geen slippers) aangezien de keien doorlopen tot aan de zee zelf, anders enorm pijnlijk en heel moeilijk om pijnloos uit het water te komen. Dit hotel ligt een beetje afgelegen maar dat stoort helemaal niet en ikzelf vind het 1 van de mooiste in en rond de buurt. S'avonds wel niet veel activiteiten: 3 x per week en deze duren tot 23u. Er is ook een klein winkeltje aanwezig en zeker niet te duur. Het personeel was altijd en overal supervriendelijk, echt heel aangenaam!! Wij hebben echt genoten van deze vakantie en kunnen niks negatief schrijven. Wil je rust , lekker eten, en geen "massa" gevoel gecombineerd met wat sport, dan moet je zeker naar hier komen."
