Acacia Motel

"Booked the motel online, as it looked good and ground floor rooms preferred. At check-in, had to wait for manager to appear and greeting was luke warm. Had to ask about the key and nothing else was offered to me re wifi or breakfast etc. Great to park outside the room and king bed was good, as well as fridge size. Old air-con still in front wall and I had to address loud noise/music problem in adjoining room around 8 p.m. Why would you put someone in an adjoining room when the rest of the motel was mostly vacant! Newer air-con at back not functioning well. Only two free-to-air channels (ABC & SBS) available and this appears to be deliberate, as other channels could not be selected. Bathroom has serious mould around floor and at check-in, there was water covering a large area of the floor centre and was a serious slipping issue. This had to be mopped up with the bath mat and towel. Shower rose dripped for the whole stay and could not be stopped. Lower towel rail was attempting to depart the wall also. A flashing blue and red light through bathroom window all night from rear property, so door had to be closed. Cobwebs and peeling paint above the shower. Hot water took a few minutes to come through at 5 a.m. but this could be anticipated due to low outside temperature. Water pressure was excellent! We left just after 5:30 a.m. disillusioned about this place, which has potential if it is maintained to an acceptable standard and a more professional approach when greeting a paying guest. Location suited us and we diverted from a normal route to visit Griffith for the first time. Hopefully, other motels are of a more acceptable standard and it appears that we were overcharged when compared to other motels in the past 3 weeks of our journey. Paid $145 for one night and have had better places for much less. Although the Leagues Club was very good and within a short walk, I doubt whether we will visit again due to this experience. Perhaps the local tourism authority has some influence re accommodation standards."
