Cbh Hatherley Manor Hotel

Gloucester|4.84km from city center
We'd initially booked the Quays Room - positioned as ”executive plus” on the website. Making the usual allowances for the building being old, this was a horrible room. The carpet looked like it needed a deep, deep clean; the ceiling had massive cracks, but the real kicker was the windows. The website for the hotel says: ”Located on the first floor of the manor house, this room offers views of the roof top terrace.” Does it, though? Or does one window look out onto a small area surrounded by walls on all four sides? Kind of an accidental void caused by the layout, rather than the sort of thing you'd expect from a ”roof terrace”. As a side note, you could gain access to this - ahem - terrace via an unlocked door in the corridor, which means that literally anyone could, should they choose, pitch up outside your bedroom window. Hold on, though - it's a dual aspect room. The second window looks out on a scene so grim they've permanently boarded it up with wooden slats, which you can fiddle with and squint through to see some more roofs. Absolutely understand that not every room can look out onto the Gloucestershire coutryside, but if you're booking a room pitched as being not merely executive, but executive plus, and priced accordingly, you don't expect to wind up in a space that would have been considered a bit much for the First Mrs Rochester. We elected to change rooms - paying a whack extra for a room above the spa. Like the Quays, this also wasn't worth the price being asked, but we rationalised that the additional £40 a night was a surcharge in order to not be spending time in the miserable Executive Plus level. The spa side of the hotel is better - it felt a lot cleaner, the rooms are currently being renovated and upgraded (ominous that a management response here says they're only overhauling 20 of their bedrooms, as this implies the Tumbledown Manor side are going to be left untouched.) The walk-in shower is brilliant, but feel sorry for the cleaning staff as the floor hasn't been laid properly so it doesn't quite drain properly and must be a faff to clean. The rooms further up the corridor appear to have actual, proper balconies - ours didn't, as the pool was beneath us and for some reason they'd decided we weren't allowed to get onto the terrace outside our room. We had a bit of a view across the garden to the trees, although much of it was of the green roof of the pool. You can't control the temperature of the room at all - the first night it was way too hot, but there wasn't even an off switch for the heated towel rail. We opened the windows and just about made the room bearable. The common areas of the hotel had radiators blasting out at high levels - maybe something was broken as a lot of doors were propped open the next, more bearable, day (including external doors, which was cooling but interesting from a security perspective.) Ironically, this part of the hotel has an actual roof terrace, with seating and views, which would

Edward Hotel
4.2/543 Beoordelingen
Stuck in the middle of a horribly stressful house move, I really needed this place to be exactly what it was - peaceful, clean and reasonably priced. The staff were very kind but not in my face the whole time and it was perfectly placed for everything I needed. The room was a bigger one than I actually paid for and I would definitely stay there again if I needed to. I would recommend it to anyone.
Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection
3.8/5100 Beoordelingen
We recently stayed at the Robinswood overnight on a trip to West Wales. Our stop over was a good experience we were travelling with dogs who are well used to staying in hotels. We had dinner and breakfast as part of our stay and were not disappointed either with the food or any of the very pleasant and polite hotel staff and we will be happy to stay again.

DO NOT GO HERE Your message will be sent to the property via Booking.com Absolutely terrible area! Not fit for families, very bad atmosphere entering road'broken front porch windows on most houses, the whole street of houses look like there hmos, (multiple bedsits) wasn't happy to leave car across the road. They state' walls are sound proof, this is not the case so this is false advertising. Next door rooms and above ceilings can here every movement from our room 103 - I.e walking/talking/flushing of toilets.our sink taps not fully secured to the basin. Plug socket with live wires connected to some form of bare broken electrical board still in place, . Breakfast is open used milks and breakfast cereals in tubaware containers not hygienic as not sealed packets, some yogurts , (see attached pics ) felt that this place was unsafe. We have not stayed the night due to these reasons. We have booked ourselves into travellodge where we have been informed in a undesirable area. Also place smelt of ********.. look at official crime rate online for this street then make your own mind up...
Holiday Inn Express Gloucester - South
4.2/5109 Beoordelingen
Room was ok. Sofa bed (used by our son) was uncomfortable - he could feel the slats underneath. Breakfast also ok but croissants cold and tough. Although the hotel was accommodating to dogs last year when we stayed and very friendly staff wise, our stay this year was met with indifferent to unfriendly staff and we were told our dog was unable to accompany us to breakfast (again different to last year). This meant breakfasting in shifts (no idea what single travellers with dogs do) This was also different to our experience in Taunton Holiday Inn Express where our dog could stay with us for breakfast and staff were really friendly and helpful. For £146, this is not a budget option and the company might want to coordinate its policy on whether it wants dogs to stay or not as it's confusing for customers. Won't be staying again.

The welcome as you would expect, the local pub feel, the Sunday roast was well cooked, plenty of veg for options and lovely atmosphere. Good drinks quality and nothing was too much for the lovely staff. Always a pleasure to visit and enjoy and would highly recommend booking!
