Hot Springs hotels in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan

De locatie van het hotel is ongelooflijk gunstig, met de JR-trein, een tramhalte, AMU Plaza en Family Mart in de buurt – perfect voor wie een ontspannen verblijf wil. Als je de volgende ochtend vroeg op pad wilt, is er een bakkerij beneden die om 7:00 uur opent; het brood daar is heerlijk. Het personeel bij de receptie spreekt uitstekend Engels en het hotel biedt ook betaald parkeren tegen zeer redelijke prijzen (als je de betaalde parkeerplaats niet kunt vinden, vraag het dan even bij de receptie). Ik zou dit hotel zeker weer kiezen als ik ooit Kumamoto bezoek! 👍🏻

Het hotel ligt op een eersteklas locatie, tegenover het Sakuracho-parkeerstation. Het is binnen 3 minuten lopen te bereiken, wat erg handig is voor mij als vrije reiziger. Bovendien kan ik genieten van de warmwaterbronnen en elke keer warme ramen eten dag, zo blij!

A safe choice which we've experienced in Tokyo Asakusa before. Great breakfast, onsen, night ramen, snacks, manga and excellent staff. Very central in town and highly recommend

The stay was very comfortable and everything was great. The room was clean and convenient for a solo traveler like myself and I got some good rest. It was easy to access with trams passing in front of the hotel. I would stay again when visiting Kumamoto!

We were very satisfied with this hotel. We stayed in a ground-floor room with a garden, and it was especially relaxing to fall asleep each night to the sound of rain. The hotel staff were very polite and offered services in Japanese, English, and Chinese, making communication very convenient. We also booked the hotel’s kaiseki dinner, which cost 7,000 yen per person. It’s recommended for adults, but not for children, as they may not enjoy this type of cuisine. The hotel’s hot spring facilities were excellent, offering private family baths, women-only baths, and mixed baths—providing a variety of options. On the day of check-out, the hotel even arranged a vehicle to take us to the bus station, which was very thoughtful. The only minor drawback was that we could hear footsteps from the room above. Occasionally, when someone walked upstairs, the sliding doors in our room would rattle slightly. That said, overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Location - opposite the Kumamoto station. May not be near the city central, it’s easy for traveller who is carrying large luggage. Cleanliness - it’s really clean Amenities - you can even choose your pillow type at the counter. It uses password lock instead of card. I really like this idea because the thought of losing the card is quite daunting. The onsen for female is really good. It’s huge enough to fit 4-5 people and it’s opened over the night. It does allow the guests to choose their time. Breakfast- it’s really nice and wholesome (refer to picture). It also provide evening drink which include alcohol.

Het hotel ligt vlakbij het busstation en winkelcentra. Het ligt op 3 minuten afstand van de winkelstraat Shangxiadori, waar u heerlijk kunt winkelen en eten. Er is een tramhalte naast de winkelstraat en in slechts 15 minuten bent u bij het Kumamoto JR-station.

Nadelen: Oud vijfsterrenhotel, de faciliteiten voelen oud aan, er is airconditioning op de kamer, maar deze zorgt alleen voor verwarming, kan niet op koelen worden gezet, het raam moet worden geopend, waarschijnlijk omdat maart nog als winter wordt beschouwd, de ober zei dat het 's nachts zal afkoelen Voordelen: gunstige ligging, dichtbij Mount Aso, met buurtwinkels en tankstations in de buurt; hoewel het hotel relatief oud is, is het nog steeds een vijfsterrenhotel, de servicekwaliteit is nog steeds op peil en de kosteneffectiviteit is hoog; de lobby van het hotel is erg groot, er zijn veel kamers, verdeeld over verschillende gebouwen, de omgeving is prachtig en rustig; er is een gratis parkeerplaats; Ik heb een kamer in Japanse stijl geboekt, met een Japanse mini-woonkamer en een westers bed. De ruimte is vrij groot; het hotel biedt yukata en badproducten; er zijn natuurlijk verschillende baden, verdeeld in mannen- en vrouwenbaden. U kunt ook een privé-warmwaterbron boeken bij het hotel. Er zijn veel verschillende soorten eten en de kwaliteit is erg goed.

An absolutely wonderful experience.
The staff at the ryokan were incredibly polite and always ready to help with anything we needed. Upon check-in, we were provided with traditional attire, pajamas, tabi slippers, bath amenities, and a small welcome treat with matcha and coffee. We also asked at the front desk if they could give us a ride to the bus stop after check-out, and they kindly said yes, of course. 
Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. At first, we were planning to explore several other local onsens, but after experiencing the ones at the ryokan, we felt completely satisfied. There are separate baths for hotel guests (men’s and women’s), baths open to both guests and visitors (also divided by gender), as well as a private onsen. One of the onsens also has a sauna.
The traditional dinner and breakfast were both impressive—delicious and very generous in portion.
The surrounding grounds are stunning, perfect for peaceful walks. This ryokan is a bit further from the main cluster of inns, but that was exactly what we wanted—to enjoy quiet walking.
At night, our futons were laid out for us, adding to the authentic experience. The only reason I deducted one star is the very bright green light on the ceiling that stays on all night and can’t be turned off or covered. I didn’t have a sleep mask with me, and the ryokan didn’t provide one, so I had a sleepless night. It was quite unpleasant.
That said, I still highly recommend this ryokan—it’s an unforgettable place to stay.

I stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room. This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease. The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off. Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away. Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!! We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated. Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
