Hot Springs hotels in Iwate Prefecture, Japan

This onsen hotel is excellent overall. Upon arrival, staff proactively met us in the parking lot, even holding an umbrella to shield us from the rain. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and friendly, and spoke fluent English, which made communication easy. The room itself was a pleasant surprise. The tatami room was spacious, and the adjustable chairs were very comfortable. The balcony offered a beautiful view, and enjoying afternoon tea while looking at the snowy scenery was worth the price alone. The onsen facilities offer a great variety, including three free private baths (貸切風呂), one of which is wheelchair accessible, making it convenient for elderly guests. The outdoor onsen, with its stunning snow views, was particularly beautiful. I definitely need to plan another trip here in the autumn.

Stunning location! Walked into the lobby and was floored by panoramic views of the cape. The hotel isn't modern or new, but it's well-maintained. Stayed in the tatami room and it's extremely spacious. Opt for the dinner buffet as there aren't lots of dining options unless you drive. Breakfast was full of Western and Japanese options. Oiishi!

The best ski in and ski out and Onsen hotel in Japan so far! We loved the hotel so much in Oct 2025 so we rebooked and came again from Dec 20-24, 2025. 1. Very convenient for ski experience. Ski in and ski out. Ski rental and ski coach school are just besides hotel. Good experience for rentals and coaches hiring. 2. Breakfast and dinner buffets are great and so yummy! The food does change every night to give you diversified variation to choose from. Very delicate food preparations by great chefs so don’t worry you will never get bored. 3. Onsen is also great great great! Great view and women and men get alternate the hot spring pool everyday. 4. First floor relaxing area is great great! You have self service bar of juice / soda / coffee and popsicles. 5. The hotel staffs are so nice and make you feel at home. Motoyo-San is extremely friendly and her English is so fluent!!! We were very lucky to have her help out during our stay. 6. 3rd floor is newly renovated so pls try this beautiful room next time! Highly recommend!!!! Great for family and couple trips!

The facilities at Abhi Hotel are excellent, with a microwave, vending machines, an ice maker, and a washing machine – all very convenient. The food and the staff's service attitude are also great, especially the Chinese-speaking intern who was incredibly friendly and kind, helping us with all our questions. Thank you for your help!

This hotel is really out-of-the-way; I'd recommend driving. It's mainly a place to go if you want to ski, as it's by a ski resort. I found the area to be very quiet. The hotel food was excellent, though you'll need some level of Japanese proficiency to effectively communicate with the staff. You can enjoy a bath in your room, or the hot springs downstairs. Overall quite nice, the rooms have a cottage feel.

施設設備は湯治部に宿泊のため、期待していませんでしたのでまぁこんなもんだな。という部屋と環境です。冷蔵庫は湯治用のキッチンまでいき、共同。ガスも10円投入して使うタイプ^_^初の体験でした。食事はつけたので支障はありません。食事は米が美味しく、普通の温泉旅館のようには品数はありませんが満足でした。おかずは米の周りにある副菜品と感じました。食事は大満足。お風呂は四つあるうち他の３つは綺麗にされたので、私的には不満足。一般的には受け入れやすいです。白猿の湯だけが、昔からの情緒のある素晴らしい温泉で、混浴ですが、女性時間あるので、私は２日宿泊したうち5回はいりました。川のそばの温泉です。是非白猿の湯だけは行ってみる価値あります

A taxi from Morioka Station costs a fixed 5,000 yen fare to the hot springs, and the journey takes over 20 minutes. 2. Neighborhood Amenities The hotel is located in a relatively remote area of ​​the hot springs. The nearest convenience store is over a 15-minute walk away. There are few other shops nearby. Once you enter the hotel, you're confined to the hotel. Even if you want to walk to the nearby river, the walk is over ten minutes. It's recommended to stock up on daily necessities, such as snacks, in the city before heading to the hotel. 3. Hotel Facilities This hotel is a very traditional hot spring inn. The building has three floors and approximately 21 rooms. The baths are separate for men and women, one indoor and one outdoor. However, the outdoor open-air bath is too close to the grass, making it prone to mosquitoes at night. The indoor bath is spacious, and since there are not many guests, you can enjoy it alone. The room facilities are a bit dated. The Wi-Fi speed is adequate, but the TV cannot connect to a tablet or YouTube. The room window overlooks the landscaped grounds next to the lobby. If you enjoy traditional Japanese inns, you will enjoy the facilities at this hotel. 4. Hotel Staff The hotel staff are very friendly and proactive in offering assistance. However, one area I think could be improved is that the dinner and breakfast service was a bit too fast.

The hotel's scenery was absolutely stunning! We visited in April, and opening the window revealed beautiful lake views and snow-capped mountains. The hot springs were also fantastic. It happened to be a festival in April, so there were folk song and dance performances in the evenings. There's a shuttle bus service between Morioka Station and the hotel, but you need to book it in advance. If you can't get on the shuttle, there are also public buses that go to the hotel.

The hotel nestled in the middle of Iwate and Akita Japan with an amazing sceneries of mountain. The accomodati on is super comfortable with an amazing view of trees and mountains covered in snow. The other highlight of this place is the culinary experience this place got to offer the course dinner and breakfast that uses locally sourced ingredients from both Akita and Iwate prefecture and the presentation of the cuisine that brings out the quality and the stories of the place. Overall an extraordinary experience and worth a trip of its own.

We chose to stay at this hotel because we were going to Appi Plateau for skiing. It only takes about half an hour to drive there, which is very convenient. The hotel is much larger than expected, the staff is very friendly, the most surprising thing is the hot spring, the open-air bath is super comfortable, a lot of skin care products are provided. Free coffee and soda are provided in the lobby, which is very generous. There are also two free bottles of water in the room refrigerator every day. The room rate includes one night and two meals. Breakfast is a buffet and dinner is a Japanese kaiseki cuisine, which is very delicious.
