A very unique ryokan experience at Kusatsu. I've never seen wooden floors that shiny. The room is LARGE. Plenty of space that is also partitioned, and can sleep up to 6. There's a toilet in the room, but no shower. They've got a top notch onsen bath downstairs. The hotel staff were kind and used a translator to communicate with us. Location wise, it is very good. It's near enough to the Yubatake. Like 1 min walk away. But it's away from the noise and crowd and sulphur fumes. The perfect choice for guests who like to go back to the hotel for a short rest and come back out again

良かったです！なんと言っても二階建の
ホテルで、面倒なエレベーター乗らずにすみ、フロントとかも人が少なく静かで良かった！キッチンが有りバストイレが別々で自転車が借りれて最高です！次回出張時も又お世話になります。

初めて草津温泉に行きました。元々別の宿を取っていましたが、他サイトでの口コミがとても良かったのと、朝食がついていたり少しお得に泊まることができたので、直前でこちらに変更しました。
泊まってみて、次回もぜひこちらに泊まりたいと思いました！以下長くなりますが、参考になりましたら嬉しいです。
・湯畑までは歩いて7分ほど。
湯畑から宿は登り坂で、30代前半が歩いた感じでは
さほどきつくはないです。
高齢の方は若干息が上がるかと思います
・宿は階段のみ。部屋はトイレのみバスなし。
貸切風呂が2つあり、空いていれば朝9時まで入浴可能
・アメニティはシャンプー、リンス、ボディソープ、
歯ブラシ、カミソリ、ヘアゴム、作務衣、足袋、
バスタオル、フェイスタオルあり
（洗顔、メイク落としはなし）
・日帰り温泉に行く予定のある方は、
宿にあるフェイスタオルを持って行くのがおすすめです
（持ち帰り忘れないように注意！）
・朝食は軽朝食と思えない量と美味しさでした。
お腹いっぱいになります
・古民家のような建物ですが、細かく清掃がされていて
感動しました
・お部屋が少なくこじんまりとしているので、少人数で
泊まりたい方におすすめかと思います
・その他、本サイトでは口コミが少ないですが
某mapにはたくさんあるので、そちらを参考に
宿泊を決めました
何よりスタッフさんの気遣いが素敵で、湯畑に近いのに静かに過ごすことができたのがとても嬉しかったです。

ホテル近くには飲食店が多いので夕食に便利でした。部屋も綺麗ですが、男性は大浴場がありましたが、女性は部屋内の浴槽が狭かったです。アメニティのシャンプー、コンディショナーを使ったら髪がサラサラになり、嬉しかったです。
家族3人で安く泊まれたので大満足です。また利用したいです。

Dit was mijn eerste en enige verblijf in een ryokan dus ik heb niet veel te vergelijken met. Ik koos deze accommodatie vanwege de katten en goede beoordelingen op het eten. De katten waren echt zoet en ik vond het leuk om met hen te spelen. Ik heb 2 katten van mijn eigen dus het was echt mooi. Het eten was zo mooi en heerlijk - de champignon soep op het diner was geweldig. Ik genoot het echt. De privé badkamers waren zeer comfortabel en open 24 uur. Ik dacht dat de faciliteiten schoon en zeer aangenaam waren.De locatie was zeer dicht bij het centrum en een snelle wandeling naar alle belangrijke locaties, waaronder de busstation. Ik heb alleen nog een opmerking gemaakt over de ochtend dat iemand rookte en de geur ging in de tweede verdieping, dus misschien moet er meer aandacht worden besteed om ervoor te zorgen dat de rook buiten blijft. De gastheer was zo mooi en zoet en ik gebruikte google vertaling om vragen te stellen. De matcha madeleines zijn zo smaakvol ik kocht een doos om met me mee te nemen.

GGuest UserThis was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

Fflower_ chickThis was my first time going to Kusatsu Onsen. I had originally booked a different inn, but I changed to this one at the last minute because the reviews on other websites were very good, and breakfast was included and it was a little cheaper.
After staying here, I definitely want to stay here again next time! The following is a long story, but I hope it was helpful.
- About a 7-minute walk from the Yubatake.
The inn is uphill from the Yubatake, but for someone in their early 30s, it wasn't too hard.
Older people might get a little out of breath.
- The inn only has stairs. The rooms only have a toilet, no bathroom.
There are two private baths, and if they are available, you can bathe until 9am.
Amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body soap,
toothbrush, razor, hair band, samue, tabi socks,
bath towel, face towel
(no face wash or makeup remover)
If you are planning to go to a day trip to the hot springs,
it is recommended to bring a face towel from the inn
(be careful not to forget to take it home!)
The breakfast was so delicious and plentiful that it didn't seem like a light breakfast.

The building is like an old house, but it was meticulously cleaned
I was impressed.
There are few rooms and it is small, so I think it is recommended for those who want to stay with a small number of people.

GGuest UserI don't know where to start. Our stay was a highlight of our trip to Japan. This area is so beautiful and calm. We had a large room in the old house, very.spacious and with comfortable beds. The onsen in the room was amazing. But the best of all was the care of the owner in preparing delicious meals for dinner and for breakfast. Very generous and prepared with such attention. Each dish has its unique flavour. We stayed three nights and were truly sad to leave. It is a different world. We went on walks and we were given a tasty picnic box. Everything was wonderful. The place can be easily reached by train to Shimonita from where the owner can pick you up. Please visit this place. You will not regret it.

XXIANGA very old hot spring hotel is also the cheapest one in the area. At this price, it was in line with expectations. It arrived a half hour earlier, and it also smoothly let CI. The room is older, but there is everything there, and the bathrobes are beautiful. The hot springs are all public, there is no private soup, and the toilets are also public. There is a squat pit and a toilet. The toilets have to line up that morning. The sense of form at dinner is still in line with the routine of Japanese hot spring hotels. The dishes are ok, and the breakfast is a bit disappointing. It is all carbon water, and the hot spring eggs are not. The geographical location is an extra point. This town has many mountain roads. His home is a 1-minute walk from the bus station, and it will not be very tired to go up and down, let alone ask the hotel to drive to pick it up.
According to these circumstances, it is okay to give 4 points, but I don't recommend everyone to live, because this house has hidden charges, and in winter it will charge 500 warm house fee and 150 hot spring water tax. It's a pity that there are only men in the public bath, but the unit bath in the room has been renovated, so it's easier to spend than before.

GGuest UserEverything was good to be honest. Only the check out timing was written on trip.com “before 12” however the owner said “it is 10 am”. We went out in the morning and we came back before 12, the owner removed all our belongings from the to the entrance so we felt about annoyed since we could only call us to excuse us before removing our belongings by himself. Also, it is not written on the website, but the owner asked us to pay 300 yen (150 each) as taxes for using Ofuro.

GGuest UserThe place is far from the city so it’s actually pretty hard to access to this place. But the owner is really nice, she helped us with a lot of stuff, including with luggage transfer and taking us back to the train station. She also made us food because she’s worried we’re not eating enough and it’s cold.
On top of that, if you are planning to go snowboarding or skiing there is a shuttle bus near by that takes you to the Kawaba ski resort for free!

NNat_SThe location is perfect, right on the main square. But this ryokan doesn’t ready for foreign travelers, even Signboard only in Japanese. Workers doesn’t speak English also. And there is no kayseki dinner. In the room you’ll have matcha tea and beautiful tableware, traditional clothes. For breakfast you should choose time 7:30 or 8:30 and it’s so big (2 photo), but for me was very salty. There is two onsen - outside and inside on different floors.
