Monument to the Battle of Verdun and the part the town of Verdun played in the battle. Lots of steps, so be mindful. Not for small kids to run up and down as it's easy to slip and fall all the way to ...

Out of breath

Only able to walk around the outside during visit. Lots of steps so not for faint hearted. Imposing monument and good view over town. Canaccess from side roads so dont have to go up steps.

A lot of steps...

...but not very much to see. You do get limited views over the river Meuse from the top, and the monument is illuminated at night in red, white and blue, which makes for a good photo.

Interesting but not very Spectacular

Considering the importance of Verdun to the French people in WW1 I thought that any memorial would be something more spectacular or grandiose. This was neither - although interesting in its own right....

Victory monument

In the centre of town close to many bars and restaurants, quite a climb up the stairs but the view back down over the town and river is worthwhile.
