Fascinating visit to a French philosopher

The tower is right by the chateau, which is worth a visit. But tower and Montaigne himself were more interesting for us. The French group were with knew him well. What a well educated country!

Nice visit for history lover. Guide quality varies.

Original 16th-century tower, exclusively built for Montaigne. Most of his writings and thinkings created here in his small, closed study. When we visited, the "English" guide was friendly but horrible...
