"If you plan to stay in this area, you’ll need your own transport, like a rental car. The breakfast buffet has lots of tasty options and comes with a nice sea view in the morning. The private onsen costs JPY 3,500 per hour, and the experience was excellent. The front desk staff are very polite and friendly. Many local Japanese people choose this hotel for their vacations."

"Absolutely amazing view from the in-room open air bathtub. They are the closest hotel to the ocean which means unblocked views of the horizon. A short 5mins walk to quite a well stocked supermarket, dollar store (daiso) & McDonald’s for those who are looking for some fast food. Shuttle bus is provided but timings are fairly limited. But a 17min walk to the station isn’t that bad considering it’s a very quaint town. 2 On site public onsen also available for free. Lvl 5’s onsen is better than lvl 3 I think. Staff were also very welcoming and nice."

"We were assigned an older room that was in dire need of an upgrade. The peeling wallpaper, fraying tatami mat, and sinking mattress made for an uncomfortable stay. The breakfast was decent, but if you're staying for a few days, I suggest rotating your choices, as the offerings remained practically the same throughout our three-day stay. The happy hour at the lounge was crowded, yet it featured a good selection of alcohol, which was a nice perk. However, there isn’t much to explore in the vicinity of the hotel unless you are driving. For a more enjoyable experience, try booking one of the newly renovated rooms. Otherwise, it might be better to seek accommodation in a more centralized location."

"Atagawa Ocean Resort is een fantastische keuze voor reizigers die niet rijden, omdat het slechts een paar minuten lopen van het treinstation. De locatie is verbazingwekkend - veronderstel dat je wakker wordt tot de mooie blauwe zee vlak buiten je kamer! Het ontbijt is ook geweldig, met een grote verscheidenheid aan gerechten die de lokale cultuur vertegenwoordigen."

"The room face the ocean. Nice view. But the time to go onsen is rather limited in the morning, so it was a bit rush. Onsen closes at 930am to 11am. Check out is 10am. And breakfast last entry is 9am. You need to wake up early to enjoy the onsen. Dinner was served in the room. Although we enjoyed the privacy and the hot food, it made the room smell a little. Breakfast was buffet which had a lot of varieties!"

"Our room has a Mount Fuji view, which was great! However, the location of the hotel is situated on the hill, so May not be so convenient for travellers who don’t drive. Also, if you want to go to the public onsen within the hotel, you will have to take the shuttle bus, which is a bit inconvenient. However, overall this hotel is still a good choice!"

"De locatie van het hotel is geweldig. Het ligt op 15 minuten lopen van het treinstation van Shimodian en twee bushaltes verderop. Aan de overkant van de weg ligt de Kurofune-pier, en gasten die in het hotel verblijven krijgen 200 yen korting op veerbootkaartjes. Er is een Kurofune Museum in het kleine gebouw van het toeristeninformatiecentrum naast de pier, evenals heerlijke sushi met verse vis, maar het kan zijn dat je in de rij moet wachten. Vanaf Shimoda Park is het slechts tien minuten lopen om de Hydrangea Show te zien. In de zomer bevindt zich tegenover het park het aquarium. Als u de dolfijnenshow wilt zien, moet u vooraf het schema raadplegen. Het duurt 20 minuten om met de bus naar het Shirahama-heiligdom te gaan, maar de bus vertrekt slechts elke twee uur, wat te zeldzaam is. Het ontbijt van het hotel is een maaltijd in Japanse stijl. Er is een groot badhuis in het hotel, waar u zowel binnen als buiten kunt genieten van de warmwaterbronnen. De kamer die we geboekt hebben is groot en heeft uitzicht op zee, wat geweldig is."

"시설은 오래 되었지만 깨끗하고 주변에 음식점도 많고 무료주차이고 직원이 아주 친절해요. 선밸리 이즈나가오카(=본관)에 가면(걸어서 7분, 무료 셔틀 언제든 가능) 아주 큰 대욕장이 있어요. 하루의 피로가 싹 씻깁니다. 조식도 본관에 가서 먹어야 하는데 아주 맛있어요. 오고갈 때 걸으니까 소화도 되고 참 돟아요. 다시 갈 거에요."

"I suppose the charm of Atami is that the whole area is a little bit 'dated' as far as a resort goes, and this hotel definitely aligns with that - it seems like a place that was once great and is now kind of just rolling along bringing in what money it can. The food is serviceable but totally uninspired - an upscale cafeteria masquerading as something better than it is with 'chefs' wearing their whites. The entire dining room constantly smells of fryer oil from the tempura - which they still make and keep stock of in such large quantities that it is never fresh and crispy anyways (especially the shrimp, which has not been sufficiently dried before battering). The remaining hot dishes are very disappointing both in terms of variety and overall flavor. The sushi and sashimi is the standout of the food, although it too is very basic - not anything that will blow your mind, but acceptably tasty and reasonably fresh (although on our second night everything tasted a bit soapy/bleachy). As a westerner you will be very disappointed by the breakfast, although that's a 'me' problem rather than a hotel problem per se. The spa facilities are nice but a bit dated - be careful in your selection of both time and location unless you want to be surrounded with many loud (mostly Chinese) children. Private spas are available and are quite nice, although again dated. Nonetheless at around 60 USD for an hour the price is good for the privacy, especially as a westerner who is otherwise subject to quite a bit of staring at this mostly local and Chinese spa. We stayed in a deluxe king room, which was spacious with an enormous and comfortable bed, and a (For japan) reasonably sized tub. Room and desk service was good. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path but has regular free shuttles to/from Atami station, which is where the main tourist streets for shopping etc can be found. Highly suggest checking out Golden Eye for some excellent Ramen."
