"This was by far the best hotel I stayed at in New Zealand. Compared to other Hilton properties, the bed here was noticeably larger and more comfortable. I stayed in a twin room, and each bed was around 1.2 to 1.5 meters wide, whereas other hotels only offered very narrow single beds (about 0.9 meters).
There was also plenty of space between the beds, which made the room feel much more comfortable. The room was very clean, well-equipped, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
The location was also decent, making it a very convenient and pleasant place to stay overall.
I would highly recommend this hotel — especially if you’re looking for a comfortable and restful experience."

"Very nice location, good for relaxing, 1 km from town center, but so close to the lake by just crossing the street. I would love to stay longer next time.
If you reach late at night, it’s better to contact hotel in advance and ask for map and photos of your room location before. I arrived very late at night from Christchurch (changed transit flight from Auckland). It took me awhile to understand the map, room location and where to park. It was just 1 day after new moon. So, it was very dark. It’s hard for me to figure out the scale of the place and I didn’t see the small cabin at the back from the street."

It's a bit far from the center of Twizel, about a 5-minute drive from the Four Square supermarket.
I was really impressed by how thorough they were, sending detailed emails about Wi-Fi, check-in, and nearby supermarkets!
The access to Mount Cook was much better than staying in Tekapo, so it's a really convenient location for anyone who wants to finish the Mount Cook trails before noon.

GGuest UserI was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.

GGuest UserThis is a fantastic hotel. Due to flight issues, I checked in late at night, but the lobby was incredibly warm and comfortable, with a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere. The environment is truly outstanding. It faces a large park, offering lovely views, and the transportation is convenient as it's right in the city center and very close to the airport. The lobby fireplace was cozy, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, treating guests like family. The room was very clean and tidy, hygienic, and comfortable. It was spacious, and the bedding was excellent – clean and very comfortable to use. The bathroom was great, and the room overall was very spacious, neat, bright, and grand. Everything felt relatively new. I would definitely stay here again next time. It offers great value for money.

Besides a supermarket, there are also many restaurants nearby, so it's easy to grab a bite after waking up. You can even order Uber Eats to the hotel at night. Super convenient!

WWenhaoyousifangThe room was spacious and well-equipped with pots, a range hood, and a toaster. Booking early definitely saved me some money compared to booking 3-4 days before.
The hotel's location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful (P2, P3). It's in the heart of Christchurch, a 5-minute walk from the Avon River, and about 10-15 minutes on foot to the botanical garden entrance. I also walked to the city's bus interchange. For the airport, you can take bus routes 8 or 29, which is also about an 8-minute walk away.
The front desk staff seemed to be Indian, and communication in English was smooth. Ctrip recommended I change my room type booking to get the lowest total price for two consecutive nights, but this might have required me to switch rooms the next morning. I spoke with the front desk, and she patiently helped me stay in the higher-priced room for both nights (without having to switch rooms); I just needed to reactivate my key card the next morning.
After 10:30 PM, the hotel's front desk is unstaffed. If you check in too late, they will leave your room key in a coded box outside the main entrance and send the code to your email.
The only minor issue is that a casino in Christchurch is right next to the hotel (P1), about a 5-minute walk away. However, the security at night is actually quite good (P4) – it's livelier than Auckland at night. I wandered around until 8:30 PM and didn't see anyone who was drunk on my way back to the hotel.

TTFChanThis Novotel is located within walking distance to the tram station and the famous New Regent Street. The beds are also comfortable. Our only problem with the room is that with its large bathroom there is not even a single hook on the wall for hanging used towel. There is also no heated drying rack, which should be a rather common in-room facility found in many other hotels in NZ. The only sink / washing basin is right outside the bathroom, and it is tiny compared to the large bathroom. In short, the bathroom has a terrible wasted space issue.

CChak Heng AndrewThis hotel stay was an absolute delight, offering the perfect blend of convenience, stunning views, and high-quality amenities. The location right by the waterfront was simply breathtaking, and the proximity to the whale watching center was an added bonus.
While the unit was on the second floor, which required carrying our luggage upstairs, the view from the elevated position was well worth it. There was also the option of requesting a ground floor unit if stairs are a concern.
The check-in and check-out process was a breeze, with clear instructions provided and a designated key return box for added convenience. Having an assigned parking space just outside the unit was also a thoughtful touch.
But the true highlight of this hotel stay was the shower. The water pressure and temperature control were absolutely perfect, making for a luxurious and refreshing experience. And being able to watch the sunrise from the unit was the icing on the cake.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a tranquil, waterfront retreat with top-notch amenities and stunning views. The combination of the convenient location, well-appointed unit, and exceptional shower made this an unforgettable stay.

FFengkuangxingren2024This is the Peppers Bluewater Resort at Lake Tekapo. The room was a two-story villa style, with the bedroom on the first floor and the living room on the second. It had all the basic amenities, including cooking facilities and utensils. The main advantage was the relative privacy, but the bedroom was extremely small; there wasn't even enough space to open our luggage, so we had to leave it in the common hallway outside. The hotel is actually quite close to the town's dining area; it's just a 5-minute walk if you don't have a car. Besides the cramped room, there were no other major issues.
