When arriving for the first time you know this will be very rural when you have to drive around the cattle grazing on the road. The hotel is about a mile down a narrow lane at the top of a hill. The views from the top are superb. There is sufficient parking, though the overflow car park can be hard to spot. It's hard to think that you are just 30 minutes or so from Cardiff city centre. Check in was straightforward and the room was a little larger than the average double hotel room. It had all the usual facilities and bonus: this hotel still puts out biscuits! Breakfast was booked in 30 minute slots, the menu is excellent and it is freshly cooked. There is also a buffet of cereals, pastries etc. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent. We visit Cardiff quite often and, rather than find a hotel in the city, I think we will make this our first choice in the future. Footnote for EV drivers; I could see no charge point here. The nearest town with a decent number seems to be Caerphilly, about 6 or 7 miles away.

Very pleasant welcome by reception staff. Spacious room with tea and coffee. Clean and comfortable. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment.

I had an okay experience overall to be honest. The staff were good and helpful. There was plenty of parking space available too. The views were lovely to take in with a cup of tea in the morning/afternoon. The interior was really dated. And the amenities in the room were scarce. The bed was very comfy though.

Very nice old school fill enjoyed the stay here.
