A gym and swimming pool are basically standard amenities for hotels of this level, and the hotel booking page did indeed advertise a pool, gym, and towel lounge. After checking in, I discovered that the hotel doesn't have its own gym! The so-called facilities are shared with a gym next door. Guests who want to swim or work out have to go to the gym's front desk to register their name and room number, and even leave their hotel room card there before they can swim or exercise! Putting aside the fact that the gym and swimming pool were overcrowded and offered no enjoyment, being required to hand over room keys and personal check-in information to a completely unrelated external organization is an absurd practice I've never experienced before. The hotel completely disregards guest privacy and safety! Spending thousands of dollars on a hotel room only to receive this kind of service, I lost all interest in appreciating the river view I was looking forward to.
