The cleanliness of the room was the best I've seen in a long time, the shower was superb, and level of service was excellent. "The Old Trading Post ticked all the boxes and provided us with exactly what we needed for the 4 days we spent in the Wilderness area. Off the beaten track in a private, quiet area, with plenty space for us to relax in the pool, braai or enjoy the scrumptious breakfasts and exceptional pizzas prepared by the hosts. Mike and René catered to all our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed the friendly chatter and personal service. I cant' wait to visit again!"

"Both me and my husband was on our honeymoon and we pick shangri-la manor for 3 night when we pass through gatden route, we loved our stay there! The property is so beautiful inside and out. Gives you a feeling of nobleness, classic and old charm style deco. When you step outside, the whole dynamic changed. Just wild and lush. The room super spacious and comfortable, the view from the room’s balcony was so stunning and breakfast was delicious. The host was doing everything to make us feel comfortable and at the end of our check out, we received a lovely surprise gift for our honeymoon. Overall, we are very much enjoy staying there and we strongly recommended this place. "

"Lovely magical place. Little caravans converted into a bed / kitchenette / bathroom. Magical private outdoor space, outdoor bed and living room in a greenhouse. Fairy lights and decor to feast the eyes on. Perfect place to go and chill out. Lovely friendly owners, super helpful and love life. Off the beaten track for those adventure seekers with an open mind and a sense of humour. Small touches are well noted, awesome coffee and excellent linen with the most comfortable bed ever! Remember you cannot drive your car though to the establishment, you have to walk to it, so could be a problem in the rain..."

"When we drove through the entrance gates, it was like entering a quiet corner of heaven. Surrounded by lush green lawns, trees everywhere and the Outeniqwa mountains as backdrop. The host lead the way to our chalet, where everything was just perfect (and my wife is not easily pleased!) We enjoyed a sunset swim in the pool, and then light the fire on the stoep with the sun disappearing behind the mountains. When load shedding started, we switched off the inverter and gazed in silence at the heavens above. The next morning my daughter and I took the path down to the Silver river where we experienced the real wilderness up close. Sooo sad that we couldn't stay another night as offered by our host, but we will be back for sure. This was the perfect ending to our week in the Garden Route and definitely the highlight of the trip."

"I had the honor and privilege to stay with John-David @ Gerald for 10-days during June/July winter....the weather in Wilderness was absolute remarkable during this time,and the hospitality bestowed upon me by them both were "WORLD CLASS"....from the pickup at the Airport,the little spoils in my suite (Kiri Cheese @ biscuits),the port served in the lounge in front of the fire,and not to speak of the tasteful and wonderful "reconstructed breakfasts" I've asked for every morning,and served in 5-star style, made with passion @ love!!! This establishment is HIGHLY,HIGHLY rated....5-Star Plus,as it feels like owns own Holiday Home by the Lake,with gorgeous suites(Yes,I call it a Suite,as my Room No.2 had a seperate lounge,spacious and modern bathroom,and enormous bedroom,and the modt beautiful lake view balcony),with warm electric blanket,top quality bedding,and heater!!! Once again,John-David @ Gerald,THANK YOU for a remarkable stay,and we will be back,very,very soon!!!"

"This is a terrible hotel. Bad Smells, they fill the hotel with students and they were walking around at all hours of the morning, cockroaches in the bathrooms. I complained to the manager and he said they would give me a refund and when I left and contacted him he said they will not refund as they did not find cockroaches. My husband killed about 10 baby cockroaches in the bathroom and when i read other customer reviews there were MANY complaining about the same thing. So they still owe me the money. This hotel needs serious renovations- its not hotel standards any longer. They do not respond to emails and the manager Johan does not want to give me the owners details"
