Stayed here for 2 nights with our Gate 1 tour. The night before and the night after visiting Machupichu. Located in a very remote area of Urubamba. Nothing else is around the property. It is extremely isolated. The grounds are spectacular, very reminiscent of Hawaii. We we got to the room, the tv remote did not work. We called the front desk and after 2 different workers came with 3 different remotes, they got it to work. On the day going to Machupichu, I arose at 4 am. There was no hot water to take a shower. None in the sink and none in the shower. It took about 1/2 an hour to supposedly fix it. When I finally got into the shower, it was hot for about 5 minutes then went cold again, and I didn't even soap off yet! Breakfast was supposed to open at 5am. We got there at 5 am and there were no eggs, or hot foods out. I mean we are on a tight schedule for Machupichu and the day is turning into a disaster. I ate a very bland and crude breakfast and finally when we were about to leave for MP all the hot foods were coming out as well as the omelet chef. Great! Thanks! Needless to say, we had an absolutely awesome day at Machupichu. The next morning was better. We had hot water and I got my omelet. The waffles were outstanding. There is a very small safe in the room. You could hardly put anything in there. Only passports. The shampoo and body wash in the room was lacking and subpar. Service at breakfast, aside from the omelet chef was so-so. You practically have to beg for coffee and refills. And don't even try to get your own coffee, they'll humiliate you. I would have preferred staying at a property that was closer to the Machupichu train. This place was beautiful, but left a bad taste in my mouth. I guess I'll eat more waffles.
