"How were on our Costa Rica Tour 2 days in this Lodge...the owner was very guest friendly and a real bird expert. The rooms are spacious and offer everything you need, but the sanitary area is without doors, but that did not matter to us. Breakfast is enough. The Colibris come up to the terrace, you can watch from there all the birds. Since the Lodge is a little remote in a valley, it is very quiet and absolutely naturally connected here."

"I visited Aquiares with a group of old friends. It was my first trip to Costa Rica. Based on this trip, I hope to go back to Costa Rica in general and Aquiares in particular. After a 4-day stay, I felt I had just scratched the surface. The accommodations: The bedrooms at Casa Hacienda La Esperanza were not fancy but were very comfortable. I shared a hallway bathroom with one other guest and it was fine. The farmhouse has a number of appealing and cozy spaces to hang out, both indoors and out: spaces that are great for just sitting and reading or napping on your own, and spaces that are great for relaxing and talking (or hanging out at the jacuzzi) in a small group. The food: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Casa Hacienda La Esperanza were all very good, very filling, very local, and very fresh. The fruit plates were the best I've had. The activities: In Aquiares, we toured the coffee mill and visited the church; we had a coffee tasting and a rum tasting; we roamed the farm fields and the forests, swam in the river under a waterfall, and took a horseback ride. We also hiked up the local volcano and visited CATIE, the botanical and horticultural research center. The available activities in the region are quite remarkable in their variety, quality, and range of interest -- they engage the mind and the body equally, in a really nice way. Highly recommended for extended families or small groups."

"This is a beautiful property and we had a lovely, very large suite. It had a spacious bathroom with tub & separate shower. We were told the suite had been recently renovated and they certainly did a marvellous job. We enjoyed sitting on our patio overlooking the pool and at the stunning view in the distance and watching and listening to the nesting birds nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful and treated us very well. For our 49th anniversary, they surprised us with cake in the restaurant and then in our room was our favourite wine and flowers. It really touched our hearts to be acknowledged in such a way. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Villa Florencia."
