Pacuare River Lodge

Cade was an exceptional raft guide and host who made this trip truly unforgettable. From fun, confidence-inspiring rafting through Class II–IV rapids (including taking us straight through a waterfall!) to incredible homemade meals, every detail was thoughtful and seamless. Even the unexpected lack of electricity turned into a gift—allowing us to fully disconnect and immerse ourselves in nature, laughter, and camaraderie. The hike to the waterfall, swimming breaks, stunning cabin views, and wildlife sightings made the experience feel magical. Cade’s skill, calm leadership, and great sense of humor made us feel safe while having the time of our lives. I couldn’t recommend rafting with Cade more highly. Izak, the photographer/safety guide, did a great job too making sure to capture it most exciting moments!

We absolutely loved it!! The views were amazing, our instructor Kayde was super fun and nice to chat with and he also knew a lot about the area. But everyone that works there is amazing and super hospitable. They also cooked us breakfast, lunch and dinner! My girlfriend is vegetarian and they always had nice options for her. The lodge its such an amazing experience, completely immersed in the nature with all it's sounds and beauty! I would definitely recommend pacuare river lodge + white water rafting! 10/10 experience. Can't wait to see the pics from the rafting 😍

We had an excellent river raft on the Rio Pacuara with Cade as our guide. He was excellent in making the hole family feeling the tour safe and enjoyable. Guide Rodrigues took a lot of pictures we are looking forward to see! We stayed overnight at the lodge and had good chats with other guest from around the world. The lodge is situated with a wonderful view but I will mention that the Lodge, kitchen and cabins are a bit run-down. Nothing that bothered us but perhaps nice to know. We can truly recommend this experience, operator and guide

Loved our stay at the lodge as a part of 2 days Pacuare rafting tour. The territory is nice and well maintained. It is also quite big so you definitely have a sense of privacy. Located in the middle of a primary forest, so how cool is that! You arrive to your lodge by the boat. The rooms are very simple, clean and cozy. Loved to have a balcony to enjoy the view on the river and primary forest. Don’t miss out on enjoying a sunrise. Our experience was unique in a way, because only two of us were having an overnight trip that day (low season) but even then we were having the full experience and felt welcomed in the lodge. We were well fed, enjoyed a hike to a waterfall and down to the river to have a swim. Also enjoyed birdwatching from a terrace! Muchas gracias to Fernando, our best guide and a cook and a wonderful person.

The highlight of out trip to Costa Rica was being the only guests in this beautiful property over looking the river whilst on a rfting trip. The whole place is beautiful with birds everywhere, stunning gardens and plenty of wildlife! Amazing food eaten with stunning views and a very comfortable cabin with a lovely balcony. The sounds of the jungle all around and a swimming hole a few minutes walk away.

Although this place is very basic, with essebtially no electricity or service and we werent able to complete the second half pf our rafting due to heavy rains, wr loved this place. It was exactly what we expected. We stayed two nights, and brought snacks and just took in nature. The two waterfalls we were taken to were awesome,. Especially day 2. So many beautiful bird's. Bring a Headlamp, bug spray and a deck of cards or a book!

BUCKET LIST ALERT!!! This is a MUST book for true adventurers!!! This stay MADE OUR TRIP! This lodge is not for the faint. It is truly a lodge in the middle of the jungle. You can see the Pacuare from it. They offer rafting tours too. After booking, they will contact you via whatsapp. There are 2 ways to the lodge.....rafting in or a serious 4x4 shuttle into the jungle for an small addtl fee. Reservation included dinner served!!! We opted to raft the whole 18 miles with an outfitter and then did the 4x4 shuttle by land with a local. You stay in a little bungalow. Its just enough room for a bed and two round tables, it's completely closed by screens, and there are tapestries for privacy. Its not an enclosed room. Which made it absolutely amazing!! The views are breathtaking. The property is quaint and quiet. There is hiking available down to a small waterfall and down to the river. Communal kitchen but not needed. We found this perfect for relaxing.After a long hard day of rafting. It's off the mountainside, deep in the jungle filled with clouds and wildlife and the sounds of the river. We will be back!!! Nice little family adventure with the kids…we enjoyed the overnight at the lodge, very peaceful. However, the first day with only 45 mins on the river a bit disappointing. Could have started later in the day? Anyway, the second day made up for it with the Costa Rica class 4 rapids, albeit more like class 3 in the rest of the world Our guides (brothers Fernando and Kendall) did an amazing job and provided excellent hospitality all the way. It has been years since we wrote a trip advisor review, but we thought it would be worth dusting off our account to leave a review of Pacuare River Lodge. Our two days whitewater rafting and staying at the lodge was my highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We went on our second day of holiday from the UK and there could not be more of a contrast with London! The whitewater rafting is obviously the main reason for going, but I enjoyed the time at the lodge just as much. On the first day, after the short whitewater ‘taster’ session the guides took us on a short but challenging walk from the lodge up to a local waterfall where we could swim. We then spent the afternoon sitting outside our lodge watching the birds and butterflies. In the evening, we played cards by candlelight up in the dining area. The lodges are basic (think camping rather than a five-star hotel) but we went to bed with the curtains open, watching the lightning flicker across the distant jungle. It was truly magical. One the second day there was a longer and more intense rafting session, stopping along the way for a hike up to another waterfall and an opportunity to swim down the river through a canyon alongside the rafts. When we finished, the guides had driven our car down from the start point with all our luggage so that we could continue on to our next stop. The guides and the other guests were great and overall this was a fantastic and memorable experience.
