"Het restaurant was handig en vriendelijk en het eten was op een goede kwaliteit. Helaas hebben we het hotel gereserveerd voor de informatie over zijn spa/zwembadfaciliteiten de dag voordat de spa was uitgeschakeld wegens een fout. Bij aankomst werden we hiervan geïnformeerd, inclusief het zwembad, maar het zou de volgende dag moeten worden geopend. De nacht nadat we hier waren, werd er een briefje op gezet dat het op beide dagen uit de orde was. Hoewel wij begrijpen dat er fouten kunnen plaatsvinden, is het teleurstellend om een hotel te boeken voor zijn voorzieningen en voor niemand beschikbaar te zijn wanneer hij met een kind reist, en dit heeft geleid tot een vroege vertrek wegens gebrek aan voorzieningen."

"Royal 7 sterren is een centraal gelegen historische gebouw in Totnes. Het goede is dat het extreem hondenvriendelijk is. De bedden zijn groot en comfortabel met mooi bedden. Maar er is een probleem met het vergroten van het geluid. Als ik zo'n oud gebouw ben, is er veel geluid van de loodgieter en andere gasten. Ik slaap niet eens omdat een gast boven me de hele nacht rondloopt en op een moment ik vreesde dat hij door het plafond zou komen, dat mijn verblijf ruïnede."

"De hele locatie is kassief. Ik had een kamer met een gedeelde badkamer. Ik heb voor de basiskamer betaald en was niet teleurgesteld. Gelukkig zijn sinds mijn laatste verblijf een paar maanden eerder ook televisie in deze soort kamers geplaatst. Ik heb niet ontbijt gegeten omdat ze niet voor coeliaanse vegetariërs opeten."

"Myself and a friend visited the Maltsters Saturday evening and wow it did not disappoint! Greeted by Erin, we had a wonderful Crement one of the best I have had and the food was simply divine! Standout dish for me was the pork belly, I honestly have never tasted anything so delicious. I could not fault my starter, main, desert. It was one of the nicest meals I have had in a very long time, truly delicious!!!!!"

"The host was friendly, helpful and really did go out of her way to accommodate us, which we greatly appreciated. When our original room felt too small for us, she kindly moved us to a larger room at no extra charge. Breakfast was really good, the location was convenient, and being able to park outside was very helpful. There were definitely good points to the stay. For us, the property was a little more tired in places than we had expected from the online description and photographs, particularly some of the shared and outside areas. The larger room gave us more space and was comfortable, although the style was more traditional than we had anticipated. We also found that the hot water in the shower did not stay consistently warm, which was a little frustrating. Overall, we appreciated the hospitality and kindness, but the property did not quite match our expectations."

"We visited recently with friends, and we were looking forward to an enjoyable Sunday Lunch. We all ordered the 28 day aged slow cooked Roast Beef and were anticipating a succulent meal. To our amazement, we found that the meat was chewy and tough. My wife discreetly raised the issue with a staff member who said he would speak to the kitchen. He returned several minutes later, saying they could substitute the beef for another meat from the menu. My wife chose chicken, and I had roast belly pork, which also turned out to be very chewy. At no time did we receive an apology or any expression of regret. When we paid for the meal, we were charged full price, and the issue wasn't mentioned at all. The most disappointing aspect was the poor customer service. An obvious problem was barely acknowledged, and the bare minimum was done to resolve the problem. Eating out is not inexpensive, and our experience was spoiled as much by the attitude of the staff as the tough meat we were served. We live locally and will not be back"
