If you're staying overnight, we recommend a room at Tanadakan. The modest course meal was perfect for the elderly. And, from the open-air bath early in the morning, you can really see the sea of clouds and it's enchanting! This is a view you can only see if you stay overnight. Although it didn't have the luxury of a luxury inn, the service was just right and the staff were kind and pleasant. The transportation from the station was flexible and I was very satisfied with the reasonable price. It can also be used as a day trip hot spring, so you can stay even after checking out without any additional charges.

It was used during the 2022 Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale. The main building, where the lobby is located, is an old private house built in the Meiji period and has been designated as a registered tangible cultural property. This modern Japanese-style hotel has been recognized as a three-star hotel in the Michelin Guide Niigata 2020. The calculated space design has a sense of overkill, but it is calming. I stayed in Classic C-type Room 305 (Komatsu), a twin bed placed on a 10 tatami mat, a space next to 4.5 tatami mats and 3 tatami mats, and a reading space facing the front. It was a bit too large for a couple, but the 3 tatami mats were occupied by chairs and were a little inconvenient. Dinner is a full-course meal called ”Snow Country Gastronomy” based on ingredients and traditional dishes that have been eaten in the snow country for generations. Although the taste was above the level, there was no dish that left an impression with the orthodox menu structure. Although it is a different world once you pass through the gate, it is close to the city area and is along National Route 291, which runs parallel to the Uonuma River, so the location is not very environmentally friendly. It's not bad if you decide to stay home.

Location is excellent, about 1 minutes walk to the train station, or to the main street, both of which have lots of restaurants. The staff are very helpful, although only 1 lady could speak reasonable English. The rooms are very spacious, and comfortable, although the bathroom is on the old side. Those who used the onsen really loved it, although you have to pay an onsen tax, even if you don't use it. Breakfast is on the expensive side, and even little kids have to pay. However, free coffee/tea and soup are provided in the lounge area. There are lot of lockers, but only 2 washers/dryers. The dryer function is not effective, even after 60 mins of drying, so I ended up hanging the clothes in the room to dry instead.

It is near Echigo Yuzawa Station. It is located on the side of the line of the Shinkansen and Joetsu line, and it is not a high platform, so it is not an inn to enjoy the scenery. Because of the corona countermeasure, the counter at the front desk does not carry out any procedure, and it is done on the sofa. It was a room Japanese room 10 tatami mats, but there were also 6 tatami mats like the next room, and I felt wide. The bath is on the opposite side of the front desk on the first floor. 1. The buffet restaurant was well equipped with corona measures, and I was able to enjoy a delicious meal while looking at Hakkaisan with peace of mind. Crab, many kinds of sashimi on a boat (maybe because the sea bream sashimi was delicious because it's close to the Sea of Japan), sushi, tempura, roast beef, beef stew, and more, all of which were delicious! According to the menu, we first tasted draft beer, then local sake Hakkaisan and Kakurei chilled, but the sake was served in a nice glass decanter (?) Breakfast was quite good for this price, and the Uonuma Koshihikori rice was delicious. 3. The hot spring was a clear and refreshing bath, but there was a shallow water about 3m x 4m in front of the bathtub, which was good for small children.Elephant watering cans and baby chairs were also prepared. 3. The next day, my family was chapo chapo in the pool, but it's wonderful that you can enjoy the pool, hot springs, and two delicious meals at this price. 4.
