There is a large front patio with Adirondack chairs and the back patio has a large dining table with stunning views of the Sierras. There is also a Wisteria patio off the Sun room (bedroom 3) with seating. In the backyard, there is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs and handmade wood benches. Sleeps 6-8.The Cottage is 1400 sq ft with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. The original quartz fireplace dates back to when the house was a hunting cabin before WWII and the renovated pine wood flooring is hand milled. It has 2 screened porches, 1 off the bedroom and 1 is in the back with a table seating 4. The dining room table seats 6. There is an additional outside table for 4 in the French garden as well as a large gas grill. Sleeps 6.The Bunkhouse is a newly renovated farmhouse with a living room area, kitchenette and 2 bedrooms with a total of 3 bunk beds and 1 captain bed. There is also 1 full bathroom and outdoor patio area. Sleeps 7-8.The wellness area is located 400 ft downhill from the main house and 500 ft uphill from the cottage. This area includes a 75 ft lap pool, 8 person jacuzzi, wood burning sauna imported from Finland, cabana with toilet, sink and shower (bathroom 4), outdoor seating for 14, a large gas grill and a 400 sq ft fully equipped gym with A/C and heating.Starview Ranch is a working ranch and is home to 3 cows plus an apiary with active beehives situated well away from the dwellings.There are several trails and interesting things to see around Starview Ranch. Feel free to explore around the property but keep a safe distance from the bee hives at the apiary. Also, the fence surrounding the apiary is electrified.The main driveway along the property is an access road to a neighboring property. No one is currently living there but rarely a vehicle may drive through.The "sunset spot" near the garden is the perfect place to enjoy views of gorgeous sunsets over Squaw valley (even better with a glass of wine).This is also an ideal location for a small wedding venue. The fireplaces, sauna and fire pit should not be used during summer months when the fire risk is high. The gas BBQ grills at the wellness area and at the cottage can be used year-round. I would like to remind guests that this property is out in the beautiful wilderness. You are in the great outdoors and may encounter wildlife. If doors or windows (without screens) are left open these critters and many bugs tend to find their way in. I recommend only opening up the screened windows and ensuring doors are not left open. Also, no matter how rigorously the homes are cleaned (and I take cleaning very seriously) there may be some dead bugs or a small cobweb that was created in the short time from cleaning to your check in... again this is just a fact of life on a 50 acre ranch in the middle of nowhere.Starview Ranch is located in a remote area in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The drive to the property from either Kings Canyon Drive or from 245 involve curvy mountain roads with switchbacks and sharp turns which can also be narrow in some places. Also, the drive to Kings Canyon National Park is a windy mountain road.Other things to note:The 3 cows on the property will keep their distance but are generally friendly. They will be even more friendly if you offer them apples ;)Also, the cow pies are just part of the charm of life at Starview Ranch. Also, the driveway is an easement road to the neighboring property. No one lives there but an occasional vehicle may pass through.One last piece of advice:Pack and wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty/ dirty. Our home has one of the best views in all of Shaver and you'll enjoy looking out over the forest watching along as the clouds roll by throughout your stay. Perched on a solid granite slab overlooking the Sierra National Forest with Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park off in the distance, this is a perfect spot to launch into the forest for hiking and outdoor exploration. In the winter, children can sled right outside the downstairs sliding doors and then come inside and warm up next to the fireplace. Or enjoy your time skiing at China Peak, only 21 miles up the road from our home. When there isn't snow there is lots of runaround space in the gated neighborhood. Bring bikes and scooters, or set up a game of whiffle ball at the end of the cul-de-sac. In the summer, Shaver Lake Marina is 4 miles up the road.The outside is brought indoors with a 2400 sq. ft. reverse floor plan space featuring great views. Slate flooring and bathrooms, wood flooring in the common living area, knotty pine accents throughout the home, and handmade pine barnyard sliding doors as your gateway to the outdoors. Delight in the carefully curated decor of handmade and vintage pieces, mid-century modern furnishings, and rustic elements reminiscent of an old mountain home. The kitchen features a full array of KitchenAid stainless steel appliances including a range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher - everything you need to enjoy an evening meal after a long day of mountain and lake activities. Pull up a stool at the fifteen foot granite counter to chit chat, eat breakfast, solve a puzzle, or play a hand of cards. In the morning, grab a cup of coffee or tea and head out to the balcony seating area which offers an astonishing view of the sun rising over the mountain ridge. The balcony is a great spot to read and talk while the kids play outside below. The living area is furnished with a solid distressed pine sideboard stocked with many of our favorite games and puzzles for all ages to enjoy and spend hours playing together. Prepare your own home cooked meal or get take out from Cressman's or Shaver Lake Pizza (our family favorites) and eat at the reclaimed solid pine dining table. In the evenings, sink into the buttery Italian-tanned leather sofa around the gas fireplace, which turns on with the flick of a switch. All flatscreen televisions are equipped with DISH TV, equipped with hundreds of channels, including Sirius XM. The upstairs Master Suite also has a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, dual walk-in slate shower and a king size bed. There are two bedrooms downstairs with a full bathroom located in the downstairs hallway. All comforters are 100% down with duvet covers. Linens and towels are provided.This is a quiet neighborhood with only a few rentals. This is a single-family home rental with HOA rules that are expected to be honored. We feel very blessed to have this as our vacation home and ask that renters be considerate to not just our home but also to our neighbors. It's disheartening for all of us when people are disruptive and leave litter on the granite slab, which is a common area to us all. Please feel welcomed and at home because we've incorporated so many things for others to enjoy, but also be mindful to the property and the nature surrounding it so that we can continue to open it to guests.
