4-Starhotels in Foshan

A new hotel off the main street which gives a peaceful stay, away from the hustling bustling. There is a nearby metro station for easy travelling. Only about 15 to 20 minutes walk to Hua Gai Road and Jin Bang Street. There are many mini stores around the hotel for snacks and pastries too. Special thanks go to Mei Jia and Xiao Xiao Nian for the amazing hospitality.

Not my first time in the same hotel. Everything is still great, and I enjoyed having breakfast everyday here. Barista had a day off when I wanted to try coffee in lobby, but Starbucks is near so it's not an issue

I booked a suite at the Mercure but was unable to check in at 1:30 pm as planned. The front desk staff explained apologetically that the hotel had been full the previous night and the rooms were still being cleaned. We were advised to leave our luggage with the concierge and wait for a message on WeChat when the room was ready. By 3:30 pm, we returned to check again. When I asked a staff member about my room, she said it was still not ready. We waited by the counter while the three staff on duty chatted among themselves instead of assisting guests. After another 30 minutes, I followed up. At that point, they asked my name and I was finally given the room key. The hotel has only one slow lift serving Mercure guests. Another lift for the private residences can be used, but access requires crossing to another wing from the ground floor. Service quality was inconsistent. One morning, I called ahead to request that the room not be cleaned but asked for fresh towels, toilet paper, and bottled water to be left outside the door instead. Although the staff acknowledged this request, I returned in the evening to find the room cleaned and no supplies provided. On another occasion, the toilet became clogged late at night. When I called the front desk at 11:30 pm, I was told housekeeping had ended for the day and would only resume at 9 am. The staff advised me to use the public restrooms on level 1 in the meantime. Unfortunately, when I came back to the room the next afternoon around 3 pm, the toilet was still clogged and the room hadn’t been serviced. Overall, the hotel’s location is convenient and breakfast reasonably tasty (though with a limited selection). However, the front desk service and housekeeping standards fall short of expectations for a property under the Mercure brand.

I had a quick check in and a quick check out. Just showed my passport during check in and returned my card during check out. Housekeeping was done daily. Great AC system. It’s a bit of a walk, but a quick Didi to Florentia Village. I have other cities to visit and they were kind enough to let me keep my bags there for storage. It’s super close to Guangzhou South Railway and another railway that connects to the subway. Overall, a great pit stop that’s far from the main hustle bustle side. I also appreciated the friendly staff.

De faciliteiten overtroffen mijn verwachtingen ruimschoots. Voorzieningen zoals oplaadpunten en slimme toiletten zie je zelden in hotels; ze zijn praktisch en verhogen de algehele ervaring. Het ontbijt was prima, redelijk geprijsd en van goede kwaliteit. Wat ik het mooist vond, was de lobby, versierd met vele culturele en creatieve kunstwerken met elementen uit Foshan. Je voelde de sterke culturele sfeer al bij het inchecken, waardoor het een uitstekende keuze is voor toeristen die Foshan bezoeken. De service van Xiao Gao was ook zeer attent. Het hotel ligt vlak bij het treinstation Guangzhou South, dus een taxiritje is zo gedaan. Kortom, vijf sterren!

The location is not where the most tourist attractions are, but there are also good choices of food around and a number of buses around. The room size is good. It would have been better if the bathroom door is sliding as with the present setting, you need to close the door before you can use the sink. The carpet is old and has stains. We saw a couple of cockroach during our 4-day stay. The staff at the concierge were very helpful. They tried hard and helped us to buy our bus tickets back to Zhuhai as we could not do so with our phone. Overall it's value for money.

Foshan Travels: when it comes to Foshan or Guangzhou, most people only know Chimelong paradise. However, there is an oasis known as Changlu Holiday Resort 长鹿度假村. Its lesser known and more catered to locals. Advised to come on weekends, once you check in, literally no need to go out liaoz!! We came during the weekdays and low season, hence it was easier to get an upgrade and no queues for rides. On weekends, however, they have a night parade and activity. Lots of shows, street shopping, food and performances. Back to the resort. I booked via trip.com. Rooms starts from only $99 per room! Not per person. PER ROOM And includes ALOT! 1. Choice of room. We had initially booked the cave room at $200 per night with tickets for 2 kids. However, due to a natural inclement, we managed to get the underwater room upgrade! Both were great. The underwater room usually cost around $700! And a bigger one at approx $1000!! Breakfast is included too. I would say not as good as the earlier hotels. But ok la… 2. Tickets to the zoo. You get multiple tickets if you book more than 1 night. Actually 1 day ticket is sufficient as the zoo isn’t very big and could be covered in 1 day. Zoo shows are not included. Regret watching but not expensive. 3. Discount tickets to the circus. Top up about $8 per person. Discount tickets to snow world. As we had experienced similar at the previous hotel, we skipped this. Snow world is another $6 per person. 4. Thrilling amusement rides. Not included but they are not expensive too. Pay by coin credits and they offered buy 1 get 1 value. Works out each ride to be less than $2-$3 a ride only. 5. Affordable and good food offerings. Usually theme parks tend to be expensive. But it’s affordable here. We went to town and realized even cheaper. 6. Unlimited hot spring pools to soak. 7. Beautiful swimming pool (the blue oasis in the pictures is the pool) 8. Steam and sauna access. And many more!! They have a total of 11 interactive zones here. When people feedback 2day1 night is not enough I kind of thought I might have time to go to town.. well… 3 days 2 night in the resort and we still find it insufficient too. 😅😅😅 With the beautiful underwater room, we spent time going in and out of the room for rest and pool soak multiple times too.. If you ask me which room type is the best, get the cave rooms as they are in the heart of the resort. Easiest to get around.
