"Geweldig hostel, ik boekte de privé eenpersoonskamer. En het had een heel groot bed met een comfortabel kussen en deken. Alles was erg schoon, inclusief de modern ogende badkamer. Die had een hele fijne warme douche.
De locatie is naast de oude stad, dus perfect! Ook het hostel zelf zag er van binnen heel schattig uit met planten en traditionele Chinese looks!
Ik kom hier zeker terug als ik Pingyao weer bezoek 😁"

"Deze binnenplaats heeft typische kenmerken van Pingyao, met grote, rode lantaarns die hoog in de lucht hangen. Het is er feestelijker dan gewone binnenplaatsen. De eigenaren zijn een jong stel met twee dochters, een tweeling, waardoor de binnenplaats levendiger en mooier is geworden. Het was de eerste keer dat ik op een grote kang sliep en het voelde geweldig. Ik kon mij omdraaien zonder dat dit gevolgen had voor de mensen om mij heen. De baas was hartelijk en vriendelijk. Hij zorgde er niet alleen voor dat ik gratis werd opgehaald en afgezet bij de noordpoort van de oude stad, maar reed zelfs met de tram naar de marathonlocatie toen ik ging hardlopen. Hij gaf mij ook twee flessen azijn toen ik een aantal dagen bleef. De helft van de schoonheid van Pingyao is in deze binnenplaats tot uiting gekomen."

"We were welcomed by the very sweet owners. Despite not speaking the same language, they showed us around the room explaining that the bedsheets and towels are clean, where to find the sleepers, and how to turn on the hot water boiler. Then we presented our passports and we were offered dried red dates to taste.
It went all smoothly. Very clean and quiet place."

"Van de vele pensions en hotels in de buurt van de Noordpoort van de oude stad, koos ik voor City Comfort Hotel, en het overtrof mijn verwachtingen ruimschoots. Het hotel is dit jaar pas geopend, de kamers zijn schoon en netjes, de kussens en matrassen zijn zeer comfortabel, de faciliteiten zijn compleet, de hele kamer is stijlvol ingericht en er is een aparte natte en droge ruimte. Het openbaar vervoer is erg handig en er zijn tal van eetgelegenheden in de buurt. Het personeel is beleefd en de eigenaar is erg vriendelijk; hij haalde me persoonlijk op van het station. Het is een geweldige prijs-kwaliteitverhouding, een echte aanrader, en ik wens de eigenaar veel succes met zijn zaak."

"I originally booked a double room, but the owner was incredibly kind. Knowing I enjoy gaming, he proactively upgraded me to a gaming room for free—so thoughtful! The gaming room experience was fantastic, with powerful computer specs. The room was exceptionally clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and I slept soundly. The guesthouse courtyard was incredibly quiet, with a peaceful and relaxing environment. It completely changed my perception of guesthouses; the price-performance ratio is outstanding. Highly recommended, I'll definitely come back next time!"

GGastgebruikerDe kamers waren schoon en hygiënisch, en de binnenplaats van het pension was bijzonder mooi. De eigenaar was ongelooflijk gastvrij; hij gaf ons oude Shanxi-azijn zodra het tijd was om te vertrekken, gaf ons vouchers voor restaurants in de buurt en hielp ons zelfs met het boeken van kaartjes voor de voorstelling ”Encounter Pingyao”. Er konden ook elektrische scooters gehuurd worden voor vervoer. Tijdens ons verblijf van drie nachten regelde de eigenaar een ophaal- en wegbrengservice vanaf het station – de service was hartelijk en attent. De locatie van het pension ligt zeer dicht bij het centrum van de oude stad, wat het ongelooflijk handig maakt. Het is de beste keuze voor accommodatie tijdens een bezoek aan de oude stad Pingyao. Een dikke duim omhoog!!! Ik kom hier zeker weer terug de volgende keer dat ik kom!!!

GGastgebruikerIk verbleef in deze B&B in Pingyao in 2019. Ik had een zeer goede indruk. Dit jaar bezocht ik Pingyao voor de t****e keer en boekte het zonder aarzeling opnieuw. De eigenaar A Rong is erg aardig en nuchter. Hij is een aboriginal uit de oude stad Pingyao. Hij haalde ons op naar de stad en terug. Hij hielp ons ook met het afleveren van onze bagage naar het treinstation. Het is echt zeldzaam om zo'n baas te ontmoeten in een vreemde stad. Bovendien is de retro - ingerichte kamers in de B&B zijn erg warm en het ontbijt is ook heerlijk. Ah Rong plande een rondleiding door de oude stad. De tips om valkuilen te vermijden zijn heel redelijk. Ik heb echt een heel goede indruk van een plek omdat ik een B&B alleen. Ik zal het zeker aanbevelen aan al mijn vrienden die naar Pingyao gaan.

Ssasayoyo2003Wilt u de charme van de oude stad Pingyao op een meeslepende manier ervaren? Verblijf dan in dit 170 jaar oude historische huis, het Fan House. Dat is veel leuker dan alleen maar door de winkelstraten van de oude stad slenteren.
De baas was hartelijk en beleefd. Hij vertelde ons dat er vijf generaties mensen hier hadden gewoond. De kamer waar we deze keer verbleven, werd voorheen bewoond door zijn overgrootmoeder, en zelfs de deuren en ramen zijn niet veranderd. Hun Fan-familie had vroeger een bank in Nanjing. Er is een Fanjia-straat in de oude stad die naar de Fan-familie is vernoemd. Elke binnenplaats in de oude stad is een familiegeschiedenisboek!
Fans huis staat niet aan de winkelstraat. Het blijkt dat sommige straten in de oude stad nog steeds geen straatverlichting hebben, alsof we terug zijn in de jaren 80.
Het was een onvergetelijk verblijf. Toen ik uitcheckte, dacht ik dat ik een recensie zou schrijven zodra ik thuiskwam. Ik was echter te druk na thuiskomst en vergat het. Nu herinnerde ik het me net en opende Ctrip om een recensie te schrijven!

GGastgebruikerWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved
The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk.
The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

LLiza MartinsI never felt so welcomed as I felt here. I was treated as family. They took care of me the entire time. They took me to the Pharmacy, offer me dinner, allowed me a late check out and took me to the train station. The place is amazing. A historical building, with 2 gardens and rooms decorated as we were centuries ago. I loved my room. Spacious, cozy, beautiful, full of details. It’s 2 minutes from the principal streets, but quite. I am traveling China for 3 weeks already and honestly, I feel that all the chineses are amazing. But this family is even better than anyone else I met on my way. Thank you 🙏 See you soon

RReasonHet huis is van de standaard Jinzhong-stijl en is zeer onderscheidend. Ook erg schoon en netjes. De kleine tuin is ook geweldig.
Vooral omdat de baas aardig is. Omdat voertuigen de oude stad niet mogen betreden. Dus parkeerde ik op de parkeerplaats bij de noordelijke poort van de oude stad. Ik wist niet hoe ver het was van waar ik logeerde. Nadat hij had geregeld dat ouderen en kinderen hun bagage uit de auto zouden halen, bracht de baas hen persoonlijk op een scooter daarheen en trok vervolgens met de scooter de koffers terug naar de winkel.
Voordat ik de reservering maakte, las ik beoordelingen waarin stond dat de eigenaar erg aardig was. Deze keer zag ik het legendarische enthousiasme van de mensen in Pingyao.

GGastgebruikerThe host were nice and friendly. They speak no English but they use and app for basic translations. The room is good value for money. Modern and clean, with good architectural finishes. They don't provide towels, shampoo and so. No air conditioner either, thou I asked for a fan and they gave it to me and it was perfect like that. Location wasn't so easy to find, the access road can be either dusty or muddy depending on the weather.
It's about 15 minutes walk to the north gate of ancient Pingyao city wall. I would recommend specially to couples as it's the same price as for solo travellers. (I guess the price is per room) They didn't ask for a deposit as written in their policies, which is a plus. I attach a plan explaining how to best get there. Recommended.
