Skiathos Avaton Hotel, Philian Hotels & Resorts

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Avaton Hotel in Skiathos. It was one of those holidays you hoped would never end, but from the first greeting from Stella as we arrived, welcoming us to the hotel to her waving us goodbye as we got on the mini bus our experience was first class. We stayed in a garden view room, which was clean comfortable and spacious. We had stayed in a standard room the year before at the same hotel and this room was larger, so more comfortable. The bed was comfy and adorned with white bed linen. The slight negative was that there really isn't enough space to hide all your belongings as there are open shelves, which look very trendy and appealing as you walk in the room, but your items are always on show. Another slight difference is that the sink is in the bedroom positioned on the shelf. At first this seemed strange although we did get used to it. It might be nice for the hotel to provide a receptical to place your toothbrush and toothpaste inside. The actual bathroom is small but has a nice dual shower so you can have a quick directional shower or a rainfall shower to get underneath. There are lotions and shampoos provided in small bottles, so no need to bring shampoo or shower gel unless you like your specific brands. The air conditioning was extremely welcome as the temperature was in the low 30 degrees C, every day! It was thankfully nice and quiet too. Also the rooms had tea and coffee facilities and a small fridge which was great for keeping the drinking water cool. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis with our friends who had a separate room. The breakfast was excellent. There was something to cater for nearly everyone's dietry requirements, fresh fruit available every morning along with the not so healthy options. The breakfast area was in the dining/bar area, near to the swimming pool and was washed down every morning. Cleanliness was a high priority, the chamber maids started early in the morning and you could witness them all day long, cleaning the rooms and the social areas. The reception staff were lovely as were the bar and waiting staff. We didn't meet any member of staff that wasn't always pleasant and courteous, and most of them spoke very good English, always happy to share a joke and to attend you. The pool area was lovely. There are Bali beds and sunbeds all with very comfy mattresses, bed bean bags, and some swinging chairs all close by on the beautifully tended green garden areas. The pool is not really a swimming pool if you like to use a pool for exercise, but it is lovely to have a dip and a soak to coll down after laying on the sunbeds. If you want to secure a sunbed around the pool area, then it is advisable to go to breakfast early (breakfast is from 7.30am - 10.30am). We got there early to secure a bed by the pool, but as we are early risers this was a comfortable time for us. If you like to have a lie in, then you may have to find a bed on the grass area, wh

A fabulous stay at The Skiathos Avaton Hotel situated in a great location in Megali Ammos. 5-7 mins walk to the beach and another 10 mins into town. The staff at this hotel are so lovely, always willing to answer questions and help when needed. The rooms are great and kept spotless by the wonderful cleaning staff. Plenty of choice for breakfast which can be taken in or outside. Beautiful pool and gardens, again well kept. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel & look forward to staying at their sister hotel Thalassa Cape next month. Thank you Skiathos Avaton for a great stay.

Fabulous relaxing holiday in an absolutely lovely hotel. We had the king suite with our two children which was perfect, a great size with 3 balconies, one of which is huge with a hot tub, loungers and dining set. The pool area is lovely and never struggled to get a sun bed. Lovely walk round the back of the megali ammo’s beach restaurants to town. The highlight of this place is the staff though who were brilliant- nothing was too much trouble. Amazing holiday in a gorgeous setting - thank you.

The location was perfect to use Megali Ammos beach and to walk into Skiathos Town. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was fantastic. There are a few cats around but if you ignore them they don’t bother you. Bed was very comfortable. Woud definitely recommend.

Once again the Avaton did us proud. Thank you so much to all the staff for looking after us so well. The hotel remains very clean and friendly and breakfast is very plentiful and fresh. We love Skiathos town which is a 15 minute walk away. So many fabulous restaurants to choose from and a very friendly ambiance everywhere. The beaches ⛱️ are beautiful, our favourite being kanapitsa. So massive thanks to Nina, Nena, Elsa, George, Alex and all the team at Skiathos you really made our stay very memorable x

Lovely hotel, very comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff and we enjoyed trying to speak Greek each day. The breakfast was brilliant and lots of choice. Good cocktails in the bar. Location perfect and an easy walk to the beach, tavernas and town.

Couldn’t be friendlier, breakfast was lovely with so much choice & nice setting. Good location only a short walk from the beach with several places to choose from for a drink or meal. We had room 401, not great deal of room for our case/clothes etc, only thing we’d change but wasn’t an issue. Big comfy bed. Nice 15 minute walk into the main town if want a bit more life.

What makes this Hotel is definitely the staff - from reception to the restaurant at breakfast and in the evening, the cleaning team and the more senior managers that visit they are all helpful and supportive and very much go above and beyond in looking after the guests. We had a problem with our first room and they couldn't have been more helpful or kind. We very much appreciated it. The Hotel is in an excellent location for walking into Skiathos town - you can do this along the road (not much pavement) or cross the road and do it along the beach and up a slope. Both in about 10 minutes. The beach opposite - Megali Ammos - is lovely and the restaurants along it are all very nice - we tried 4. Our only issue was that while the photographs of the hotel on their website and the Tui website are beautiful they are very carefully 'curated' and build unrealistic expectations - it is lovely but not what the pictures suggest so manage your expectations - the rooms are very small and don't have much storage (no drawers at all) and the bathrooms have no shelves in the showers and very little space around the sinks. They need an update. You have to turn sideways to walk between the sink and shower unit. It would also be easy to make space above the wardrobes so that you could store your suitcases there by removing one of the 'slats'. Its definitely a 3 star, not 4. And we had a deluxe room. Its great to use social media and marketing but not to the point it is misleading - more time on some of the details around the hotel and in the rooms would be well spent. Having said this again, the staff were very understanding and helpful and upgraded us for the majority of our stay which they didn't have to do and went out of their way to resolve. Tui were helpful as well. We would return based on location and the team - both excellent. Thank you again to the team! *I just have to mention that one of the team - I think a manger who always wore quite fitted shirts and trousers - shouted at the gardener and cleaner in front of guests on two occasions. We didn't find this acceptable at all - its shouldnt happen in this day and age and any issues should be dealt with away from guests in a much better way.
