Island Inn Rishiri

"Stayed at this hotel on the first night of our 3-day Rishiri & Rebun trip (Aug 2025, right after Obon). After a 1h40m ferry ride from Wakkanai, we arrived at Oshidomari Port around 1pm. This hotel is in Kutsugata, on the west side of Rishiri. The island has two towns—Rishirifuji (Oshidomari) and Rishiri (Kutsugata)—and the hotel car picked us up from the ferry terminal. The drive took about 20 minutes. The staff were impressively attentive, not only with check-in but also with helpful suggestions for our plans the next day. In the lobby, there’s a self-service drink made with Rishiri’s famous kelp broth—surprisingly delicious! Our room was very spacious and perfect for relaxing on a remote island. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet style, with plenty of dishes featuring local Rishiri ingredients. On checkout day we joined a sightseeing bus tour. Since the bus departs from Kutsugata, if you stay at this hotel, it is a convenient way to both explore the island and head toward Oshidomari Port or Rishiri Airport afterward. Overall: a highly recommended hotel if you’re visiting Rishiri. The hotel is open from June to September only."
