Feels like a Five Star Hotel. Fabulous rooms. Clean Comfortable and Modern. €45 for a single great value. Was given a free upgrade and a drink at the bar FOC. Reception staff awesome. Would highly recommend. I never want to leave! Easy walking distance to restaurants and supermarkets.

Breathtaking location with magnificent views of the Setubal peninsula. One of the best Pousadas of Portugal. A ”must-stay”. Very professional service and superb service. Great room at moderate price. Excellent breakfast.

We are both handicapped (knees and hipproblems) and wanted a room with a bathroom with a shower and not a shower in the bath). Because of our physical problems we wanted that guranteed. The hotel refused that and said this was only a option and the management decides on check in if we get a room with a shower or a room with shower in bath. I told the people at the reservationsdepartment that this would be very bad for us in case we would want to check in and room with shower would not be available. Reaction: Sorry, but these are our rules. Even a phonecall with their headoffice brougt the same message: These are our rules. In my opinion is this not only rude, customer unfriendly but also discriminating ! So, be warned if you have problems with getting in a bathtub. On their website it says: Bath or Shower, what they mean is: we decide what you get.

The establishment is just as you'd expect from the photos posted, with tasteful, sophisticated, individualized room decor. It's a far cry from the cold, impersonal chain hotels. The building and rooms are a perfect combination of authenticity and modernity. The staff are charming, attentive, caring and hyper-responsive. Perfect check-in and check-out. Great location, good soundproofing, very good bedding; however, I deplore the 2 single beds for a couple. Reasons for the 3 out of 5 rating: you get the impression that a lot of attention has been paid to the aesthetics of the rooms (which we loved), but there's a real lack of storage space, which is almost non-existent; this is still acceptable for our 2 nights, but I won't be coming back for a longer stay, and therefore with more belongings. Another black mark is the breakfast: it's taken in the bakery lounge on the first floor. While the RM Guesthouse is intended to be a cocoon, the bakery room is certainly bright and clean, but not up to scratch. What's more, the choices are relatively limited: why not a formula with a choice of hot beverage (and not just coffee), a viennoiserie to choose from (and not just croissants), etc.? In my hotel choices, breakfast is an important element, and as explained, in my opinion it's a long way from what an establishment like the RM Guesthouse should offer.

Location is wonderful, and so is the whole building and surroundings. But comparing price/quality there is really something missing. We spent 3 nights in weekend High season, but there was no management at all.We had to wait more than 3 hours before we could have our room, although we send a mail to ask for an earlier check in than 16.00. Not possible, we have to waited till 16.15 . We have been in many 5 stars places all over the world, but never had this situation. Thanks to Mr Joao de Sousa we we're calm down. He treated and helped us later with everything, and that made our stay good. Our superior terras room was located perfect, clean and cool, but the decoration is for that price some dated. The bathroom very small and not really comfortable. In the adults pool only three umbrellas, to protect all the guests from the sun. sunbeds we're not very clean, and the pool towels, is really not done, in a 5 star Hotel member of the Leading hotels of the world. The quality of the breakfast was 3 stars, only 2 sorts of unripe fruit, and no fresh bread at all. We have had diner several times, at the fantastic Terras outside, but please put mores covering to protect people for the extreme sunburning. quality of the food was good, specially my fish was perfect prepared, and again I say, the very kind service of Mr Joao, David, and several other members of the restaurant was really touching. They did their job more than fantastic. So overall, the place has so many strong assets, location, building, history, surroundings, but some for us important details we're missing, and the feeling that there was no management to talk with, but the location is Portugal on it's best! The location of the hotel is very good, not far from the bus station and the railway station, there is a big park opposite, about 15 minutes walk to the port. The breakfast quality is good, the service is also very good, and there is a free shuttle bus to the beach

We booked this hotel not knowing much about it from the U.S. we are staying 19 days and it is a wonderful hotel. The people are very nice and professional. The room is very basic like we were looking for and very clean. The breakfast has a great variety of breads and fruit with eggs and sausages. The coffee is very good with a wide variety. I would recommend this to anyone that doesn’t need a fancy place to stay with great service and clean rooms. Thank you Hotel Litau for a great stay.
