Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba ★★★
"Zeer groot hotel, voelt een beetje oud, maar de kamers zijn redelijk opgeslagen. Ontbijt is goed"
Unplan Village Hakuba ★★
"Neat and tidy hostel, quite well organised, with large communal kitchen downstairs. Shared sinks and unisex showers (with anteroom). Men's toilet and women's toilet separately on lvl 2 and 3. Breakfasts were reasonable for a hostel (remember, don't be expecting the swanky 5 star hotel here): sliced ham, edamame beans/corn/lettuce/tomato/broccoli ... soup which alternated from a milky soup and a brown ?onion or beef soup but was tasty ... bread, cereal, tea, coffee. I got the private bedroom which had a double bed on tatami floors and an area which could possibly be storage or made into two smaller flat bunk beds I suppose. No fridge in your room (as is usual in hostels). Other rooms are bunk bed dorms. 300m from gondola (just walk across carpark to ticket office). If you want tickets for local Tsugaike region only, you can purchase these at front desk - you get a discount here! Coin operated laundry (uses 100Y coins). I did not try the sauna or the wagyu hot pot restaurant. Staff spoke enough English to get by easily."
Hotel Hakuba Berghaus ★★
"Skigebied "
Yamakyuso ★★★
"I stayed here for two nights during the Obon holiday. The children in the next room and the owner's children were playing with me, which was very heartwarming. I usually don't eat white rice because I'm on a low-carb diet, but this was so delicious that I had seconds. The ropeway to Tsugaike Nature Park is nearby, so I was able to arrive early and take a walk in the morning, which was great. They recommended wines and I was able to choose from them, which was delicious."
Resort Inn Marion Shinano ★★★
"I was traveling with my family but couldn't check in on the scheduled dates. I tried to cancel but wasn't able to. I'm very disappointed with this booking as I received no assistance whatsoever."
Apprising Hotels GranJam Tsugaike ★★
"Het hotel is geweldig en het personeel is zeer comfortabel. We kwamen zeer vroeg en ze konden onze koffers nemen zodat we kunnen beginnen skiën. Het is een beetje een wandeling (op en neer) van Tsugaike skiplek, wat een beetje moeilijk voor mij was met skiboten, maar mijn zoon was oké met zijn snowboard schoenen. Er is een comfort winkel op de weg, maar onigiri leveringen vaak uit aan het eind van de dag, dus je moet er vroeg komen."
Ha-Mon ★★★
"It is right next to the Mei Chi Plateau ski resort, you can ski in and out, the room is spacious, the bedding is comfortable, and the first floor is dedicated to storing ski equipment. You can order simple meals in the restaurant, and there is a small soup for you to soak in."
Hotel Sunny Valley ★★
"Goedkope hotels die zeer goedkoop zijn voor huishoudens, het hotel wordt overgebracht naar het skigebied, er is een skiweg die direct kan rijden terug naar het hotel. Elke morgen en nacht hebben rijke voedsel, kleine en mooie warmte. De sneeuw is echt groot 😃! Trouwens, mijn dochters mobiel viel op de sneeuwgrond, de hotelbeambten helpen met elkaar te zoeken, er is heel veel gevoel! We zullen weer blijven."
Hakuba Tsugaike Ski Slope Side Espoir Misawa ★★★
"The hospitality provided by the owners (Aya-san and her husband and son) is incredible. So friendly, helpful, courteous and prompt. The way this place is run is faultless & I cannot recommend Espoir Misawa highly enough. Aya-san herself picked us up from the bus stop and also dropped us off at the end of our stay. Her English is good enough despite her thinking its not so great. Any questions we had were answered with respect, accuracy, and friendliness. It was just so wonderful staying here knowing our comfort is at the forefront of their mind. They have a relaxing lounge in the foyer playing soothing jazz and when I mentioned I'm a jazz musician myself to Aya-san's husband...well! Out came the good stuff and he even swapped the piped Bose speakers to floorstanding speakers which were amazing quality. Espoir Misawa is one of the few places in Tsugaike that have certified onsens. Other accommodations state they have public baths but be warned - that might just be tap water. Here, there are certificates framed on the walls (probably a legal requirement?) stating the date inspected, temp, chemical/mineral makeup et al. The genuine ski in/out door was fantastic. It really is ski in, ski out. Just a quick few metres down to the lifts or gondola. Ice cold Asahi beer from the vending machine for only 350 yen! Awesome! I really don't want to be critical when the hospitality was just well beyond expectations but here goes. 1. The mattresses were quite hard and old. New, pillow-top mattresses would go a long way towards making the rooms (at least, the western rooms) more comfortable. 2. The towels provided were an odd fabric - I think microfibre which were utterly non-absorbent. Towels have 1 job - to dry. But they didn't. Also they had been washed in a decent dose of fabric softener which might've helped to repel moisture and also gave the room a smell of the fabric softener. Some might like it, some might not. 3. There was no hanging space for said towels. There is a small hanging rail in the room but the length of this could easily be tripled. 4. The room was very hot. As soon as we entered we immediately asked how to turn off the heater. It remained off for our entire stay and even at night we kept the window open a few inches as it was still too hot. This is winter mind you! 5. Not important but it would be a nice gesture to provide a yukata for popping down to the onsens. All in all, a really fantastic stay and many thanks to Aya-san and her family for such warm hospitality. We'd come back again if points 1 & 2 above were addressed."
